Well priced but I feel that the service could be better. This place was recommended to me by several others as a good company for car hire, especially for those with kids as car seats are provided free of charge. The cars are parked in a nearby car park (the one for the Fañabé shopping centre that Orcar is located within) which is a few minutes walk away so I'm not surprised that I wasn't shown to the car but I did expect the car seats to be pre-fitted or at least come with some help or instructions. The seats were just sitting on the floor in the office and I was told to pick one and take it to the car myself. This was not an easy task with a pram and a nine month old with me, especially as I had 2 car seats booked. After struggling to the car (another tourist helped me down the stairs in front of the office) I had to figure out how to fit the seats, but my daughter wasn't happy to sit in her pram and watch me do this and cried to whole time! One of the seats had no instructions on it so I eventually gave up and fitted the other one for her. Both seats could be fitted rearward of forward facing, as the other one was for my 3 year old I decided to just go back to our hotel and fit that one there (as I figured that I could fit it forward facing without needing any instructions).
The car was a Seat Ibiza automatic, fine to drive and spacious enough for us. It's not a big car so you might want something bigger for a larger family or more luggage. I asked about scrapes and they said it's fine as the car is fully insured for that. There were quite a few scrapes on the bumper when I picked it up. The roads nearby have zebra crossings almost everywhere so be aware of this when you set off. When we reached the hotel I was able to fit the other car seat in a few minutes, but not sure how I would have fitted it rearward facing if I had needed to do that.
Here's a description of the car seats that they offer:
"We only have one model of baby seat from 0 to 18 kgs (group 0,1 and 2) and child seat from 3 to 12 years old (group 3). The baby seat has two positions: one for baby 0- 9 kg, and another for 9-18 Kg"
To find the office:
Going south on Calle Londres, it's on the pedestrianised road to the left just after Restaurante Hawai. You need your passport or a copy of it when picking up a car, and your driving licence.
To find the car park when returning:
Again going south on Calle Londres, just after the road that leads to the office there's an entrance to the car park (says Público above it). I was told to park on floor 2 or 3. Don't forget to note the number of the space. read more
