I called wth an unknown eye issue. They got me in immediately and noticed I had a retinal tear. They got me in within the hour to one of their retinal specialists, who injected a gas bubble in an attempt to seal it without surgery. I may still need surgery but the service was excellent. read more

1550 Oak Street in Eugene is an interesting office. There are several competing ophthalmology practices located on the main floor of the building. The waiting area is a large open room with separate seating areas for each physician group. Also on the floor is Focal Point Optical, a dispensary presumably owned by some or all of the doctors. I had cataract implants some years ago. Due to deteriorating vision last year I was given a new prescription by Oregon Eye Consultants. There was no mention of need for follow up for any problems/conditions. The cost of the new glasses from Focal Point was $1402 including progressive lenses, photochromatic tinting, and coatings. Vision was worse than with my old glasses. I complained and was given a new prescription by Oregon Eye Consultants. After several requests, Focal Point Optical finally credited me $1402 and put new lenses in my glasses, but there was no improvement in vision. Further, the new lenses lacked photochromatic tinting and were dirt magnets, suggesting inferior coating. In frustration I consulted Siuslaw Eye Care Center here in Florence, where we live, and the optometrist instantly discovered the reason for my problems. My lens implants had become clouded over time. There was nothing wrong with the most recent prescription. She referred me to a specialist ophthalmologist in Eugene who in two brief laser treatments cleared my implants. I no longer really need glasses but when I do have excellent results with my old ones. This has been a time-consuming, expensive, and difficult experience. The diagnostic failure by Oregon Eye Consultants and unsatisfactory lens replacement by Focal Point Optical guarantee I won't be returning to either. And high marks to Siuslaw Eye Care Center for solving my problem. read more

I have been going to this office since I was 14 and I'm 51 now. I have always been treated with respect. The staff is amazing. I always leave there knowing I have received in my opinion the best care for me and my eye condition from the exam to any testing that may need to be done. read more

So far so good. Just had my first visit with Dr. Kunz. I was first placed with a medical assistant for the eye strength exam. He was very personable and professional. Next, I was dilated and waited a bit before seeing dr kunz. Kunz confirmed seeing the big floater in my right eye and the mildly significant cataract in the left. All said, he was personable and professional. He explained my options and asked staff to conduct a measurement test , in case I decided to purchase a new lens, not covered by insurance. The hole experience took about an hour and went pretty smoothly. Now, we'll see, as they are supposed to call me next week to schedule surgery. read more

I have macular degeneration. I have been going to Oregon Eye associates for roughly 5 years now. the CARE, thoughtfulness and consideration that I receive could not be any better. I have been going to DR Beardsly for several years. He is so good. He answers all my questions and explains everything

The staff is nice enough, the admin staff does not advocate for you!! You have call them a million times to get your billing right and even then you have to call your own insurance to get the correct out of pocket cost. They don't notify you when your contacts are in. Upon having terrific experiences w/Dr. Kunz w/cataract surgery in Nov. '23 as well as an initial Oct. '23 retinal exam w/Dr. Beardsley who requested I have a 3-6 month post-surgery follow-up, I dutifully made the requested retina follow-up appt in Dec. 2023 for the following May 2024 w/Dr. Beardsley at the Corvallis site since that's closer to home. I received texts from the office to both confirm my appointment two weeks before the scheduled appt. and to remind me of the appt. the day before. I faithfully showed up to the Corvallis site to find it closed; I waited and then called the main office. This is where my opinion took a significant decline as their scheduling staff & system couldn't be bothered to reach out to me during the five months my appt. had already been on the books as it were. No adequate answers have been given to this date as to when the schedule was changed, what induced the change, and why I was not informed nor was I made a priority in scheduling a replacement appointment at my convenience and in Corvallis. I had to decline a PT appt the very same day as my so called scheduled May retina appointment only to NOT be seen because of the scheduling staff & system and had scheduled my other professional responsibilities around the appointment I'd scheduled back in Dec. '23. I've asked repeatedly for my questions to be answered. The two providers were great, but the respect by the scheduling staff for patients in this experience is woefully lacking. read more

terrible experience! I came here for an eye emergency, sent over from Urgent Care. I called them to make sure they got the referral and they said yes and to come over and they would squeeze me in. When I arrived, they had no idea what was going on. Eventually, I seen Dr. Beardsley. they said that my eyes would be dialated, and I asked if I would be able to drive. they said yes most people are fine, and I wouldn't need a driver. When I was done with the appt I was told I had a bad eye infection and would be prescribed steroids. When I got outside they sent me out a back door and it was VERY BRIGHT and I couldn't see anything, they didn't give me glasses, I had to walk around to the front where I could find a door, to go in and ask for eye glasses. when I got to my car I still couldn't see anything, I sat outside on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm because I couldn't see, and honestly I shouldn't have even drove at 7pm. Saturday I go to pick up my prescription and I was told they've been waiting for a prior authorization since Wednesday and I couldn't get the meds. I called Monday (today) and the office was SO rude. i let them know I couldn't see on Wednesdays and they said "I'll make a note that you need a driver," I let them know that I would now know I need a driver, and that it's really something they should be telling people as I've asked around and this seems to be the only office telling people they can leave without one. They said they haven't recieved anything about the prior authorization and would ask. It's been 5 days and I can barely see, and my eyes ACHE from this pain. I recommend going ANYWHERE else. read more

These folks really are great. All of the people I interacted with were a delight. They consistently hit that sweet spot of personable care and efficiency. I do not usually write reviews because even if things are not just right there is usually a good reason; however, after my eye exam on August 30, 2023, I feel it is necessary. In 2021 and 2022 the prescription I received was not correct and I had to return for a re-exam. This year when I looked at the prescription I realized that it was the same as last year and the date below Dr. Aryah's signature was 9/1/2022 not 8/302023. I showed De. Aryah a copy of my prescription from last year and the prescription I had just received both with the same date and the exact prescription. He did not seem to care and said well you won't have to get new glasses even though he had told me only 5 minutes before that there was a change in my right eye. I left and then returned to the office a few minutes later and told the receptionist that I had the wrong prescription. They printed the correct prescription and acted as though it was not a big deal and when I looked at the date under Dr. Aryah's signature it was 8/26/2022 not today's date 8/302023. Now I have not idea if the prescription is correct and no-one in that office offered an explanation for the error. I think it is time to make a change to different eye specialist. read more

The billing department is a FRAUD! I PAID $75.00 for trial contact lens and fitting. Because I have Trillium I was informed I was to pay cash before the appointment or I would not be seen. Now a month later I get a letter saying they billed Trillium and was denied and because I have no proof of payment I owe another $75.00. They have record of the pre appointment phone call asking for the $75.00, Mary at billing told me so. What the heck do I do now? read more

Dr. Kunz did my exam and recommended cataract surgery. He said their scheduling dept. would contact me the following week. They didn't, so I called them but they NEVER answer their phone. Sorry I can not recommend this business. I drove 65 miles from my home in Florence, OR on August 23, 2021 for a contact lens eye exam. I waited over an hour past my appointment time to be seen by a technician who tested my vision and took measurements for contact lenses. After she finished and said "the doctor will be in soon", I waited another half hour for him to show up. He then ignored the fact that an hour and a half of my time had been wasted, did a 5 minute scan of my retinas, etc. and turned around and walked out. No " nice to meet you, do you have any questions ". Then the tech said they would get contacts ordered and call me when they came in for a fitting. That was over three weeks ago and no contact from their office. I called them today and they would only say we ordered them but they haven't come in yet. I asked them to check the status of the order and give me a call back. No call back. Not a very good way to run a business in my opinion. read more

I'm now at 7 appointments, 9 months later, and still no workable prescription because the glasses manufacturer says it's missing information. I do not recommend this place. The doctor was nice but getting a new glasses prescription should not be this hard and I should be able to trust that the office will do their job right the first time. Trust me do not go here. Dr aryah is a horrible eye dr. I told him I wanted a second opinion after his assistant rushed through our eye exam, he then proceeded to tell me I'm a horrible parent for not immediately putting glasses on my child and wanting a second opinion is apparently child abuse.. after all of this the following week he called my primary care dr. Who we are family friends with, she told us he was threatening to call cps on us. So I called the police and asked what to do they said to immediately drop them and tell them to erase our records. Which we did. I'm now fighting so this doesn't happen to another family. All you have to do is look at his reviews 99% of them are negative and about dr aryah. He is the worst dr I've ever seen in my LIFE. BEWARE just go somewhere else. read more

They squeeze so many people in they dont have time to really listen to you. Dr Ayrah is friendly enough but doesn't give time to hear you or let you ask questions I left the office so confused. I'm now trying to call them back to get some clarification as my problem was not resolved. read more

After taking my 2 year old to urgent care on a Sunday because she was suddenly unable to see, the urgent care doctor called Dr. Champer (who I assume was the on call) who told us to bring in our daughter first thing in the morning to Oregon Eye Consultants to see him. We got there and although there were a lot of people waiting, we were seen very quickly. Dr. Champer doesn't mess around. He knew what he was in there to do, didn't BS at ALL, looked at my screaming daughter's eyes, and immediately sprung into action. He is NOT a pediatric ophthalmologist but we loved his straight forward approach. That isn't to say he wasn't comforting, because he did as much as he could do to comfort me, her crying mother. He didn't like my daughter screaming, which is fine, because who does--so don't scream while he's looking at your eyes LOL. He called pediatric ophthalmologists all over the state for about 20 minutes (since the only one we have in Eugene couldn't get my daughter in for surgery for a while) until he found someone who would help my daughter ASAP. We are very grateful for his service and his sense of urgency. If you're looking for hand holding, he probably isn't the ophthalmologist for you. If you're looking for someone who knows what he's doing and will get you the help you need, then he is the ophthalmologist for you. read more

This was my second visit. My first visit for glaucoma treatment went ok. Dr Aryah is super fast, no time to ask questions, but personable. I came for my second visit and discovered my chart notes are missing, and someone else's notes are in my chart. I also received a call changing my appointment to 3 months earlier than I thought it was supposed to be. Turns out that was for this other person also. So I wasted 1/2 my morning going to an appointment I didn't need. Dr Aryah seems unconcerned and said it was no big deal, until I pointed out that I was out the cost of an office visit. He did offer to waive the fee for that appointment. Then when I tried to make a new appointment for the test I need in 3 months, I was told again I was wrong. The last time I went in one of the assistants did the eye test on only one chart - when I couldn't read any of the letters on that chart with my left eye, she brought out a much larger one - I could see the biggest letters and she said "no change" - I said you never brought out the big chart before and she just left. Ever have an experience so frustrating and repugnant that you set up a Yelp account just to warn others. Well, thanks to OEC, I have. And I can see from a review ahead of mine that I'm not the first. If zero stars were an option, I'd go with zero. I scheduled an appointment with OEC to get a contact prescription. During that call, I specified I was coming in because I need a prescription for contacts. I even confirmed OEC would check coverage with my insurance and let me know if coverage was anything other than the co-pay we discussed. I had my appointment. Mid-way through, I was given a form advising OEC would charge an additional $75 for a contact fitting. It's not uncommon for there to be a fee, but it is certainly uncommon and unprofessional to hide that fee until a client is mid-appointment. Not only did they withhold that information during scheduling and confirmation, but they left that form out of the paperwork they sent prior to the appointment. It was a tacky blindside. I wasn't prepared to sign during the appointment and was told that was fine, I could think about it and decide where I want to get my contacts. It should be said that the tech was awesome. He was lovely, it's everything else about the experience that was awful. After the appointment, I decided I no longer want to be a client of OEC based on that business practice, so I requested my contact prescription with an intention of filling it elsewhere. They ignored my request. In fact, they ignored multiple requests over multiple weeks. I finally had to take time off work to go into their office and ask directly. Then I was told they'd tried to call me which was a delightful way to avoid actually being responsive since I'd advised I do not have phone minutes. They have a patient portal AND my email address; this is not a barrier except that they chose to make it one. It gets worse. While there, after a bit of a run around, I was told they would not provide my prescription unless I gave them more money. Cute, right? This meant the entire exam was a waste of time and a squandering of my insurance benefits. The manager apologized that I'd not been told about the extra fee when I set an appointment for the sole purpose of obtaining a contact prescription. She told me it's standard to have a fee, but lets be real: even if it is, that's no excuse for hiding it and then being non-responsive. So I asked them to please put that in writing. Basically I either need the prescription or proof they are withholding it, so I can address the issues with my insurance. After further discussion, the manager I was speaking to said I would be contacted either that afternoon or the following Monday. I confirmed that a call would not be sufficient (even if you have phone minutes, remember to get things in writing when you're dealing with shady people). I reiterated I could be reached via email, the patient portal or even mail. I was told that was no problem. Did they keep their word? Nope. They opted not to respond. I reminded them and still heard nothing back. Basically they've just been a waste of time, energy and money. I have set an appointment with a reputable optometrist since I need to have the exam all over again. Fun fact: when I mentioned the horrible experience I'd had with a prior exam, the person I was speaking to specifically asked if it was with Oregon Eye. Guess I'm not the first person they've pulled this on. If you opt to go to OEC, be careful and protect yourself. They've made it clear that client satisfaction and even just basic kindness aren't on offer. Or I guess you just need to pay extra for that? I'm leaving this review only after nearly a month of attempting direct resolution. read more

I developed a problem with the retina in one eye. Dr Peter Karth and his staff did a full evaluation and determined that I needed surgery. The surgery went well, and after a recovery period my retina problem was resolved. Dr Karth is a great doctor, and a skilled surgeon. read more

On 1/25/20 I wrote a critical review of Oregon Eye Consultants and the following day received a reply that a staff administrator would be reaching out with a call and asked that I give them a chance to "make it right". A gentleman did call who I'm having an ongoing conversation with the promise he going to do a thorough investigation of my experience. The gentleman appears sincere in his determination of what went wrong in my surgery and follow up care. I'll post follow up later as to the result of that review. What concerns me though, is I posted a copy of my original comments on the Oregon Eye Consultants Facebook page. To my disappointment, the comments that were identical to what I posted here on Yelp have been removed from their Facebook page. Only positive reviews are left available to be seen by visitors, and it appears I HAVE BEEN BLOCKED FROM POSTING ANY FURTHER COMMENTS ON OEC's Facebook page!! I was beginning to rebuild confidence through the communication with their top Administrator/Manager. Yet having my comments removed and being blocked from posting anything further on their Facebook page is disappointing and causing me to further question the integrity of Oregon Eye Consultants. read more

This negative review is specifically for the business office and an appointment maker at Oregon Eye Consultants. When I called to make an appointment to see an ophthamologist, the receptionist for unknown reasons set me up with a retina specialist, which I had not requested (I didn't even know such a speciality existed). After the exam, the retina specialist told me I needed to see an ophthamologist!, which floored me since that's what I thought he was and that's when I learned he was a retinologist. This meant I had to make, and pay for, a second appointment to see an ophthamologist as I'd initially requested. Because of this, I have refused to pay the bill for the retinologist because I never asked to see a retina specialist. My insurance paid about half the bill for the retina specialist, which Oregon Eye Consultants should be content with given the situation. However, Oregon Eye Consultants continues to hound me for the co-pay, which $80. I have called, written and emailed Oregon Eye Consultants each time they send a bill, each time saying I am not responsible for the retina specialist's bill since the receptionist made me an appointment with the wrong kind of doctor, and I should not have to pay for her mistake. The billing office at Oregon Eye Consultants still refuses to admit their mistake and take responsibility for it by forgiving my portion of the bill even though insurance has paid more than half. I do not recommend doing business with these people. (Note: While my experience with the retina specialist at Oregon Eye Consultants was not positive (he's incredibly arrogant, but that's the topic for another review), my current eye doctor there, Dr. Takusagawa, is an excellent doctor.) read more

After waiting an hour Dr.Arryah rushed through the appt and misdiagnosed me. He refused to consider or discuss my medical history and the possibility of a reoccurring condition. After further testing with a different doctor it turns out I was correct. He misdiagnosed and prescribed the wrong medication because he rushed though and wouldn't give me any time to discuss. I will never return to his office. I do not trust his ability to properly treat and diagnose. read more

I saw Dr Aryallah. I have seen him 3 times and each time I see him he is more rude, impatient and unsympathethetic to a chronic eye condition that I have. I had to beg him to write a prescription for eye drops after he sarcasticly told me that he could not produce eye tears for me to relieve my dry eyes. He was impatient and kept trying to leave the room and move on the next patient, as the waiting room was full and they seem to overbook their doctors. This doctor spent about 5 minutes with me and he never suggested any medications to help me without my insisting that he did so. I guess he wanted to make me keep coming back so he could rack up the dollars. I would never return to this clinic again. read more

This was my first visit to an optometrist office in Oregon, so I was very surprised when the assistant did my vision test! I never had anyone but an MD do that before and it made me uneasy. The place is extremely busy. I was taken in more than 20 mins past my appt time. The assistant was pleasant enough and appeared to do a good vision test. But he took two pairs of my glasses to "check the prescription" and later in the day I noticed that he scratched BOTH pairs!!!! It's a good thing I need new lenses, otherwise I would be asking them to replace these. That is the one thing you never expect your eye doctor staff to do! The young man needs some training on handling glass lenses. Dr. Arayah was in and out like lightening, so I really hope he examined my eyes thoroughly. Never had that quick of an eye exam. read more

I am writing regarding my dissatisfaction with Oregon Eye Consultants. In February of this year I went in for my every two year check up, choosing an actual eye doctor as opposed to an optometrist because I had been having eye issues. I was told by Dr. Kunz I possibly needed cataract surgery but first needed to see a retina specialist. I saw Dr. Beardsley at the Springfield office and he diagnosed me with degenerative myopia and told me the cataract was insignificant. I even went back with questions and the office appeared surprised anyone would do such a thing. I still don't quite know what to expect, other than they claim I will have yearly exams. Anyway , I went to get new glasses at Rainbow Optics. The exam done at Oregon Eye Consultants was apparently not complete so I returned to get some other measurements. I was told by the technician she would fax this directly that day to Rainbow Optics. It has been two weeks. Rainbow Optics has called EVERYDAY. No one called me about the issue and now that I know, I find out a receptionist cannot even fax me my own prescription! (I was going to then fax it myself to Rainbow Optics. I have headaches and eye issues and require my new glasses and am tired waiting for this office to actually communicate with an optometrist that is right down the street from!!! read more
