I am sharing my personal experience with this preschool to help other parents make informed decisions about their child's care. Our time at this preschool left a significant emotional impact on our family, particularly my 4-year-old, who began showing signs of distress shortly after starting. Within a week, he cried every morning at drop-off and expressed fear about nap time and the teacher who greeted him in the mornings. One day, my son shared that this teacher had hit him on the bottom during nap time because he wasn't napping.This alarmed us greatly, and we immediately withdrew him from the school. Looking back, this explained his earlier reluctance and frequent complaints about nap time. Unfortunately, this teacher has sent us text message and email threatening legal action. We strongly believe no child should ever feel unsafe or mistreated in their learning environment.This preschool may not be equipped to handle high-energy children. I would like to share my family's experience at Oregon Hope Chinese School. In October 2024, after picking up my four-year-old son, I asked him open-ended questions about his day. He told me, "The teacher hit my butt" and explained it was because he "wasn't napping." When I asked if it hurt, he replied, "No, it didn't hurt." Sometime soon after, he demonstrated by lightly spanking himself and saying, "Like this." My wife and I have never used physical discipline at home, so seeing him replicate this action was deeply concerning. While the school denied any wrongdoing, we believe this indicated the use of corporal punishment, even if it did not cause physical harm. Out of caution, we immediately stopped sending our child to the school. In January 2025, we received written communications from the school demanding that a Google review we did not write be removed. The communication threatened a defamation lawsuit if it was not taken down. This legal threat, combined with the initial incident, reinforced our discomfort with how the school handled the situation. I'm sharing these details so other parents can make an informed decision and discuss discipline methods thoroughly with any prospective preschool. While some families may not have concerns, our experience left us uneasy. The facility is clean, secure, and well-maintained, with a polite and professional staff. The outdoor area provides a safe and quiet space for children to explore and play. The teachers do an excellent job implementing the curriculum and incorporating a variety of engaging outdoor activities. Through active play, children develop strength, coordination, confidence, and problem-solving skills in a natural setting. One of the highlights is the school garden, where children learn about different vegetables, develop a sense of responsibility by caring for plants, and experience the joy of watching the life cycle of plants unfold. My child loves being at school so much that she often doesn't want to leave at the end of the day! Her friends feel the same way, and we regularly set up playdates on weekends so they can continue having fun together. It has also been exciting to see how much Chinese Mandarin my child has learned. She frequently sings songs and recites poems in Chinese at home, which has been a joy for our family. Great Chinese Immersion preschool with affordable tuition cost. Min Kong is a really good teacher and able to make learning Chinese fun for preschoolers. My daughter started with zero Chinese knowledge and can now converse casually (like a native speaker). I believe the school has good teachers that truly care for the kids, a good balance of learning and playtime, encouraging creativity and acting as part of a team. I love how they use monthly themes, songs, arts and crafts, and games integrated into the daily activities. My daughter often surprises us when she comes home with random artwork or papers scribbled with Chinese writings, alphabets, numbers, drawings with "I love Mom"s, "I love Dad"s or a bunch of her friends' names (aside from the weekly art that they bring home every Friday). As a bonus, the school also participate in community and cultural events, giving opportunities for kids to experience performing in public settings. read more

Finding the right preschool is not easy, who knew that even at this age deciding where to send your little one would be so hard. There are so many emotions and expectations in play. For us it was important to find the right atmosphere where our son would feel not only comfortable but also loved. I cannot remember how many schools we toured, I've lost count. We asked everybody, we heard so many experiences, great recommendations and yet we were not 100% sure about any of them. Finally we googled OHCS and took the tour. From the moment we spoke on the phone to making the appointment to the end of the tour we had the feeling that this was the right one. During the tour our son fit right in and felt very comfortable. We were looking for a space where he could socialize, play and have fun. We loved the idea of a mixed age group. The room is spacious, clean and organized very neat. We liked the garden and chickens and my son loves the wood stomp. There is a beautiful little park next door where they go and explore. It's very safe since they use the back door to access the park. There are 3 teachers who are respectful, loving, kind and clear when it comes down to making sure the kids follow the rules and respect each other. The kids love them. On the other hand, there is another plus. Learning a different language in a multicultural community. We also attend the Saturday school. We are fascinated with the activities they offer such as wushu for our son and Taichi for my husband and me. This is something we do as a family and always looking forward to it. A year has past since we picked this school. We are very happy here and we are definitely going to continue for the next school year. read more

My son is 6 and he has been attending the Saturday Chinese immersion class for one year. Although only once a week, he already made friends at the school. The class setting is casual and bilingual. So even Chinese is not my son's native language, he still is able to follow it along. For the lower level class, the class is using art as the mean of teaching. Not a bad thing to say. We had searched and toured many immersion preschools before we toured Oregon Hope Chinese School. After the tour we decided to send our son to OHCS. My son is really enjoy going to school. Min is really caring about the kids and also very creative on how/what to teach the kids. My son didn't communicate much and when he started the school Min and the teachers are very patient, understanding and worked with us to help him. Now he talks and tells us about his day at school which is very nice. My husband and I trust the school because all the teachers take necessary actions to keep a peaceful, safe and fun environment to all the students. All the parents are also very friendly and understanding. We are so happy that we found the perfect school for our son. We also plan to send our second child to OHSC when she is 3. We highly recommend this school to any parents. We actually did recommend OHSC to our few friends already :) read more

This is a Chinese immersion preschool ages 3 through kindergarten. Min is a wonderful teacher, all the children love her. She is so patient, kind and very consistent. She teaches the children Chinese poems, songs and does tons of crafts (both Chinese and American holiday themed). The children also does performances at the Chinese Garden and Convention Center for Chinese holidays. The setting is small and intimate, which is very good for those kiddos that need a little bit more attention. She is also very accommodating when it comes to the schedule, as long as her teacher:student ratio works. Our son has gone to Oregon Hope and teacher Kong for 2 years and we love it. We continue to go despite the commute from our house because the teachers have genuine relationships with him and you can tell that this is a calling for them. He struggled at first in the school setting and they worked hard with him individually. Now he's doing great and loves school. Particularly, he loves how much outdoor play they get and the weekly themes. We plan on sending our daughter there when she's old enough. We sent our son to Oregon Hope Chinese School for the summer camps as we checked the reviews online which was pretty good. After my son went to there for one and half weeks, he got bitten by another kid and left a deep biting mark on the back of the two layers of clothing. The teacher told us when they saw the biting, they tried to separate two kids and didn't show any incident report. This thing happened to us for the first time so we didn't have too much experience how to solve it and prevent the kid from being hurt. In the same night, the teacher tried to persuade us to bring our son out of the school. Are you kidding me? They didn't do any things to stop the biting kid. Instead they were going to kick out of the victim out of the school? We got shocked and confused. As the parents, we attempted to do more communication with the school. Like what the teacher said, the kid who bit my son already had the biting history before and they still keep this kid in the school. They blamed for our kid to fight with that kid then it seemed that our boy deserved to be bitten by the fighting. (We tried to do some biting experience in our skin. Oh man! It hurts if you are going to bite with bloody mark!) We calmed down because our son still liked to go to school. So we decided to observed for a while. In the same time, we expressed to the teacher if the same kid goes to bite our boy again, they should consider to let the biting kid out of the school, not the injured kid. After six days, we picked up our kid from the school. Nothing the teacher reported to us besides my son peed on his pant. When we arrived home, we found out he had a biting mark in his wrist. It was the second biting behavior and also a serious school bully. So we went back to the school later to showed them what happened to our son. The teacher said they didn't see anyone to bite our boy. We got very disappointed for the negligence and irresponsibility. The school answered us back that they can refund the money to us which gave us the hint that they won't do anything to stop the biting behavior and defend for the biting kid. We doubt their biting policy and their bully behavior in the school. In the evening of the same day, we discovered the second biting mark in the same arm, which meant that the kid bit my son twice in a one day. We were so irritated. Our son pointed out it was the same boy who bit him as the last time. To summary, Oregon Hope Chinese School totally ignores the kids who got bitten, defends for the biting kid and kicks the victim out of the school. The teachers are not friendly and nice. We suggest before you send your kids to this preschool,please know more about their biting and bully policy thoroughly and clearly. read more

Oregon Hope Chinese School is top-notch! I am so happy that we enrolled our son in the kindergarten program there. He's thrived since the first day. He is happy with his friends and is learning Chinese really well. In terms of his emotional and social development, I know that he is in good hands. We couldn't be more pleased with the teachers. They are mature, patient, kind, thoughtful, helpful...you name it. Truly, it is a wonderful program. Aside from the peace of mind that I get as a parent, it's really hard to name my favorite part of my son's experience there. The fact that he regularly learns poems and dances is definitely a highlight. I'm very pleased with the way that he is learning math. I also enjoy seeing him and his friends perform in public. I think it's a wonderful experience for them to have, and incredibly enriching for the family as well. This school is a hidden gem! I visited all Chinese and Japanese immersion preschools in the area, and chose this school. I love the small size of the school and mixed age environment. My daughter did full time preschool and kindergarten program here, and still goes here for after-school Chinese program. She is a happy trilingual child. I often get asked how come I don't speak any Chinese when kids are speaking in fluent Chinese! Teacher Min is a music teacher, and she offers great music program. Kids sing in Chinese and English, and they dance with music. This school offers fun projects such as growing vegetables and raising chickens. read more

My husband and I have been sending our 2 children to Oregon Hope Chinese School for preschool so we have known the main teacher, Min Kong, for a very long time. She has become like an extended family to us. Our daughter attended her first preschool here when she was 3. She was not the most easy going kid and I still remember she was a bit cautious going to school for the first time. Ms. Kong was very patient and understanding and helped her (and us, the parents) ease into the transition. Same thing with my son. A bit cautious for the first few months but both of them gradually love spending time at school. They made good friends, learned a ton of Chinese (which is our main reason for choosing the school), learned discipline, respect, but also having fun. The school has a good-sized playground filled with many play structures. I love their small student:teacher ratio so everyone gets enough attention in class. We are very happy to have found a good and safe Chinese Immersion preschool for our kids. We highly recommend this place to any parent :) read more

The Chinese immersion program at Oregon Hope Chinese school totally changed my older son's attitude toward Chinese learning! He started daycare when he was 3 months old. At age 3, we tried one Chinese pre-school hoping that he would get more exposed to Chinese and would learn more, but one accident in that school there ended our Chinese learning hope for him. For a long time , he would freak out if I mentioned any thing about a Chinese school. At age 6, we saw this flyer about Oregon Hope Chinese school at the public school where my son was attending 1st grade, and we enrolled him in the Chinese immersion program in this school. He quickly fell in love with this program, he learns singing, writing, recognizing Chinese characters each week. For us, the most important thing was: He changed from not wanting having anything to do with Chinese learning to showing off his Chinese to people around him and be proud of it. I so wish we knew this program and the Oregon Hope Chinese school early! Now both of my boys ( 6 year old and 4 year old) are enrolled in the great program, and they are learning Chinese the fun way! read more

This school was seriously a huge blessing! We were scrambling to find a daycare/preschool that would fit what we were looking for due to my wife going back to work and somehow we found this place! seriously a gift! Our little one was in a previous day care where the workers were on their phones and it was literally a daycare, dirty and grimy and just no learning/development happening. Here at Oregon Hope Chinese school, my little one is actually in school! she is learning songs, learning about specific topics, spelling, letters and even now writing characters in manderin! She is learning new things everyday and on top of that its a pure immersion mandarin program. The teachers are amazing, very warm and caring and truly vested into these children's lives, so much that they come to birthday parties and special events! We highly recommend this school if you are looking for a place to know that your child is learning and developing and in a secure place where you know the teachers actually care about what your child is learning and preparing them for Kindergarten and beyond. Our little one is in her 2nd year here and definitely will miss this place! The plus side is that they have summer school here so we'll definitely putting her here during the summer! My daughter loves this place, i ask her everyday, what were your highs and lows and she always every day says "All Highs"! She is happy, she is growing Thank God we found this place!
