An Australian from Sydney who comes to Byron bay every year first told me about this Egyptian restaurant. MUST GET: triple dip (pita bread with hummus, Baba ganoush, and spicy tomato sauce). The pita bread is thin and toasted - delicious! Each complement is delicious! We asked for extra pita bread and finished all of them! Prawns with mango avocado sauce - Super fresh prawns that are perfectly grilled. I like the mango avocado sauce. Can use a bit more salt or lime sauce on this. SOLID: Roasted cauliflower - fantastic sauce with dukka. The cauliflowers were a bit over cooked. Ask for a crunchier version. SKIP: Fatoush salad - this salad is too salty for an american. Ask them to dress it with less salt. Fried eggplant with macadamia nut - I liked the eggplant a lot which is tender and not greasy or bitter (difficult to do!) this dish was a bit bland. Put some of that tomato sauce from the triple dip to spice it up a bit. You can purchase wine here or BYOB. We decided for the latter and grabbed a bottle down the street on Bay Ln.

For 90$ value plate I don't think they give you enough for your money. It was tasty but I wasn't amazed with the over all experience.

They have such a huge menu with all different variations of salads, kebobs, soups, stews, drinks and many other items. My favorite is the Joojeh Kebob which is a boneless chicken skewer. This dish is offered among several different options however we try to avoid rice as much as possible so our favorite plate is the Noon-O-Kabob. The dish usually comes with a side salad but we can't eat the dressing due to dietary restrictions so the kind owner has always been willing to accommodate. The Shirazi salad is also a favorite and is full of delicious flavors. The food quality is fantastic and I know this first-hand as I grew up having a Persian best friend and her mom's cooking is something I always miss. I'm so glad they have reopened as we were able to dine at their restaurant for lunch today. My partner has very limited days off but the time he does have off he always requests we get Shiraz for lunch or dinner. Definitely recommend this place to others! I would venture to say that their garlic dip is not only the best food I've had on this trip yet but probably on my top 10 of food I've ever had.
