Thought I'd try something different.. it's been awhile since I've tried anything new... had my doubts and I should've listened to them.. overall I found the food here to be average unless you like salt! There were a few items that were interesting in desert but overall thought the menu items were over priced and is targeted at a different market. The ones who drink Champaign and not tea with a steam dumpling. Each to their own I guess... no chicken feet with caviar on the menu here. It's not fine dining and it's not ur food hall ... and the staff struggle to get this in between balance right .. over 10min to get tea or water! me looking at waiter ... waiter looking at me.. and no food!! If you want the yum cha fan fair, this place is not it as the menu is limited ... as always YMMV this is my experience only..

After years of walking past Oriental Tea House I finally made my way inside to try dinner here on a Sunday night. Being a solo diner on this night, I sat in a window seat to watch Chapel Street pass by, I love this seating option! I decided to try two entree size portions which for one person was more then enough, I selected the Sang Choy Bow which is an all time favorite dish of mine and the Chilli Wagyu Beef Dumplings which came at the recommendation of my waiter. I have had better Sang Choy Bow it was still nice just a bit different to ones I have had in the past. The dumplings were awesome, I will order these the next time I make it back to this little eating spot. A chilli hit to the lips and submerged in just the right amount of soy to quell the burn! I would definitely recommend this dish. I ordered a Tiger Beer, but there is a vast selection of beer, tea and wine on the menu! There is something for everyone. The food menu is extensive and it would be impossible to get through everything you like the look of even on multiple visits. I see they do Happy Hour Specials and All You Can Eat Yum Cha at certain times of the day/week and this would be ideal if you wanted to trial the broader menu. Great food and great service. I would certainly recommend a visit here.

My ideal Chapel Street adventure is dinner at Oriental Tea House and a flick at the Jam Factory. Love this place for its chicken dumplings and special fried rice. I've only ever had positive experiences during my numerous visits here and I've never waited longer than 15min for my food to be served. There's tea tasting at the front and their tea Bible boasts both hot and cold recipes. I always walk out with a pack of pre-made dumplings that you can easily steam at home. Follow them on IG to enter their 'Customer of the Week' competition. Winners receive all you can eat yum cha for two!

Dumplings + Happy Tea = Bliss. Great selection of dumplings! Pearl dumplings, Vegetarian dumplings, BBQ Pork Rolls, Prawn & Pork dumplings and dessert dumplings! Yes you heard correctly, dessert dumplings. Chocolate filled with a fried dumpling shell & steamed white chocolate dumpling with a gooey shell. Oriental Tea house is a great place to bring groups, family, friend or clients. Its Yum Cha menu is detailed and will also offer you a selection of fine tea's to accompany you food choices. I have always found the quality of food here a notch or two up from the standard Yum Cha venue. I've come to notice that the staff are always very attentive and helpful and will be more than happy to offer a recommendation or an accompaniment. Oriental Tea House also has an in store selection of teas, tea pots, strainers etc. which you can purchase after your meal. A great initiative to continue drinking your favorite selection at home or a perfect gift idea!

I would never have thought of pairing Yum Cha with Oriental Tea flavours, but I certinly am glad I came across this tasty little combination. At the Oritntal Tea House on Chapel Street they offer daily Yum Cha with dining indoors where you can get an education into what tea goes with which type of dumplings. The food really is something worth tasting you can choose from a whole range of fried as well as steamed dumplings, with fillings like Seafood, Chicken, Pork, Veggies, Mango and Custard, Chocolate white and dark! The friendly staff will then tell you which tea variety will best compliment your meal. The Oriental Tea House also has tea and tea related products available for purchase. There is a selection of gift boxes and personal prezzies making it great if you want to pick up something extra special for a friend or want to take some tea home to enjoy yourself.

Staff was friendly , the place looks luxurious. Anyway, would come back whenever I want yumcha. We had 3 people and the bill was 120. 4.2. Very impressive. Not perfect but very very good…read more The most important thing. The food here is superb. Probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. We had a party of 9 and had a range of dishes. Every single dish was excellent. In order they were sweet and sour pork ribs, kong pao chicken, kong pao prawns, ma po tofu with beef mince, dry stir fried beans, fish flavoured eggplant and sweet and sour cabbage. Every single dish was fantastic. I loved them all and so did the whole table. If I had to pick a favourite it'd be a curious one. The cabbage was utterly magnificent. Cooked and flavoured so perfectly it was ridiculous. Service was up and down on the night. It was not good at the start. No one attending to us. Single dishes then delivered with significant intervals. No rice either. It made for a chequered and slightly awkward start. It was rectified in time but it shouldn't have happened at a restaurant of this quality. On the upside again, the cost of the meal was very modest at $33 a head. Exceptional value actually. We brought two of our own wines which helped the bottom line. What a great thing to be allowed to do. Overall I loved the place and would return in a heartbeat.

However, I've eaten here for more work outings than I can count and survived, so I've gotta concede to three stars. For a higher end Chinese place, the menu holds some unusual options, including crocodile and venison. The duck is a recurring favorite as are the chicken wings - perfectly crisp and spicy. The chili crab is worth trying. Avoid anything stir or pan fried as it will be greased to within an inch of your life. The lobster though.... Sigh. This is what really kills me. We can't have a team dinner at Pacific House without one of these monsters. Averaging around $350 for a whole lobster, you might expect the kitchen to take some care in preparing your gold of the sea. Lower your expectations, and plan to be crunching on shell in everything, even the other dishes that you didn't think should come out with lobster in them at all. Sometimes overcooked, sometimes under seasoned, the most expensive item on their menu is the least consistent and worst served. The atmosphere is 1980s casino: cheap chairs with white tablecloths and disinterested table service. The restaurant is consistently crowded and loud, so clearly someone likes this place, but it is never somewhere I would choose to go myself.

We tried this restaurant on NYE due to a 24/7 restaurant we wanted to go to was actually closed…read more.. So much for their motto: We never close! Anyway, back to the restaurant in question. Very busy even at 9pm, and very much Asian orientated with the clientele (not being racist, but this is usually a good sign). Service was a little bit on the average side, however once ordered, the speed of food coming out was great the food tasted even better. From memory, I think it was the Cantonese beef that was to die for. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
