Ramen bowl with broccoli, mushrooms and pork belly.
    Josh M.

They specialize in locally sourced ingredients for their rice bowls and ramen bowls. They are both large and very filling! The smoked tri-tip and the Pork Belly are great protein toppings. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Lot of repeat customers coming through that are greeted like old friends. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

First time in, had a tri-tip bahn mi. Excellent sandwich, delicious meat, fresh produce, and a crunchy-soft french roll. Reasonably priced. Certainly worth returning.

Can never go wrong with this midtown favorite. Everything from their famous chicken to salads and California Novo Asian cuisine limited parking in back of the driving, great outdoor seating and super staff.

I ordered the 1/2 crispy fried chicken for a take out order. I was so pleasantly surprised that the chicken was very tender and moist, even with the white meat. I love the Szechuan peppercorn seasoning. I would omit the orange zest since it was too overwhelmingly tangy/sour for my liking. Looking forward to trying the ramen on my next visit.

When you come to Origami every so often, this place starts to feel like home. Hands down the best ramen in town. For their latest seasonal broth: spicy chicken (not sure what it is currently). I'd order their spicy chicken ramen with broccoli/mushroom and chicken tenders on the side. Most of the time I come in I'll order their chicken tenders: either by itself, or in a bowl/ramen. For their portion and flavor, the price is 100% worth it. The employees here are amazing, always very kind and helpful. The interior is super cute and has amazing outdoor seating. This is the kind of restaurant that anyone can find something they like off the menu. From ramen, fried chicken, fresh salads, bahn mi, and desserts, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Support local and small business!

What a great find! I'm not sure which one of you I saw went here but I'm grateful I did! You've open my eyes to a hidden gem in east sac. We got the banh mi, the rice bowl, fried chicken and pickles. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the stand out was the bread for the banh mi. SO GOOD. I feel like that's what really separates the great banh mi's. So crunchy and soft at the same time. Incredible. Definitely worth a visit. Also, service was outstanding. Became instant friends with the guy at the counter, he gave us great recs and checked on us the whole time. Easy 5 stars. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Marcels foodie score: 4.6

Brown rice bowl with gluten free fried chicken, veggies, and gluten free charred onion glaze.

To all my gluten-free friends: crispy, GF battered fried chicken does exist in Sac! This place seriously hits the spot. I went for the brown rice bowl topped with GF fried chicken, tons of veggies, and a GF charred onion glaze--every bite was an addictive crunch. My only regret? Not coming here sooner.

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I love Gami Burger but this place is on another level. From the beginning we were greeted by one of the most friendliest people I have met. He welcomed us and explained to us the menu. You can tell that he loves his job and he loves the food that his establishment offers. We went with his recommendations and glad we did. The fried chicken is some of the most flavorful foods period that I have ever tasted. How someone can make chicken breast taste so flavorful is shocking to me. We ordered the ramen with the pork belly. Delicious! I really should have stopped there but I got up and ordered the rice plate. It was also delicious. The care that goes into plating the food is amazing as well. The only regret is that we didn't get the workers name. He should really be a trainer to all establishments on how to provide customer service. Definitely will be back.

Food was tasty, service was good. The broccoli was actually a standout! The fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, however next time I'd like to try it without the orange zest. Recommend.

Pork shoyu broth, pork belly, bok choy/green cabbage, charred onion glaze ramen + Petaluma fried chicken
    Sadie H.

Oragami has indoor and outdoor seating, but is still a pretty small restaurant, and gets busy quick. Be prepared for a line if you don't come early. Ordering is easy with the menu options clearly hanging for guests in line to see. The menu has seasonal components, so you may not be able to get the same thing everytime. Oragami feels a little pricey, but the ramen/rice bowl portions are excellent, and the flavors are incredible and deserving of the price point. Without exception, I have to bring leftovers home every time. I had the Petaluma fried chicken (*they also offer gluten free tenders!) and ramen. The fried chicken is excellent, the rosemary is an enticing and unique smell/flavor, pairing very nicely with the orange used and consistently juicy chicken. A great shareable. The ramen included pork shoyu broth, charred onion glaze sauce, glazed pork belly, 63 degree egg, noodles, and I chose vegetable combo #3 of bok choy and green cabbage. Everything was tasty. The egg has a nice jammy section, and the pork fell apart easily--I do wish there was another piece of protein in the bowl though, myself and friend I went with got the Petaluma chicken to help substitute the protein amount in the ramen. The vegetables were fresh and soaked up the broth well, and every bite of this meal was flavorful. Absolutely looking forward to my next visit.

First time here and we were seriously impressed! The concept is simple--build your own rice bowl or ramen bowl--with a few tasty specials thrown in for good measure. We went with the fried chicken tenders, and wow... you have to try them. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and full of flavor--definitely a standout! Everything was super fresh and delicious. The staff was incredibly helpful and patient as we figured out what to order, which made our first visit even better. Can't wait to come back and try the ramen next time!

Pretty small restaurant with options for outdoor seating. There are street parking options around. The staff are friendly. I had the bahn mi with pork belly and it was large and tasty (pricy but the size made up for it). I didn't have the ramen but that looked good too!

Origami Asian Grill serves up rice and ramen bowls with bold flavors. Their menu isn't deep, but they really put a lot of effort into the dishes that they do serve up. When you order at Origami, you basically pick either rice or ramen, then select veggies, and then select the protein that you'd like. And the protein is the 'star' of the dish. I was able to try the pork belly as well as the five spice beef and both were enjoyable. The pork belly on my visit was a little tougher than I'm used to, but I still enjoyed it. The five spice beef was very five spice flavored and came cooked absolutely perfectly. The restaurant itself has a definite vibe to it. There are a good amount of tables to sit at as well as some nooks and crannies that allow customers to chill in different places. It's unique and fun, and certainly different than many other places. Don't go to Origami Asian Grill if you are looking for a restaurant with a large menu and many things to select from. It's really a place that specializes in their bowls. If you're down for that then Origami Asian Grill is worth checking out!

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

I brought family in from the Bay Area to Chef Frank's, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance strikes that perfect balance--chill and casual, yet still elevated enough for a special occasion. We kicked things off with a mix of plain and spicy edamame, followed by two orders of my husband's favorite shrimp tempura and three orders of my go-to rainbow roll. Everything came out fresh and beautifully presented. A particularly special moment--my 88-year-old father made the trip to Sacramento after seven years (his first visit since my mom passed) and he truly enjoyed the beef/salmon bento box. That alone made the night meaningful. We also ordered additional specialty rolls with unagi and shrimp tempura for the non-celiac guests, and for our main event, the table indulged in three large sashimi platters. The fish was impeccably fresh, artfully arranged over ice--this is where they consistently shine. To top it all off, the birthday girls (my sister and my nephew's girlfriend) were treated to complimentary desserts--cheesecake and panna cotta--which was such a thoughtful touch. The ladies paired the evening with glasses of Cabernet, another personal favorite. Overall, it was a memorable night filled with great food, attentive service, and special family moments. Check out the photos--we had an amazing time! Pro tip: Whether you're dining with a small group or a large party, make reservations to ensure smooth seating.

They have a pretty extensive sushi menu, and you may get lost in all of the choices, and there are many delicious ones that I definitely want to go back and try! One of my Foodie friends, and I decided to start out with the spicy edamame. It definitely would not be a choice for either one of us. We found that the edamame was not completely boiled, and the spicy seasoning while poured on top, definitely would've been more enjoyable if the edamame had time to marinate in it. Overall, we didn't really care for its flavor or spice level. The assorted tempura was pretty tasty! The batter is light, and the veggies and shrimp are delicious. The dipping sauce was pretty mid-level and I would've enjoyed something with more flavor and something that would've enhanced the tempura. The Hinoka roll was larger than I anticipated, which is always a good thing, and I ordered this based on the recommendation of the waitress. The roll was mid-level. Not absolutely fabulous, but not horrible either. They are very light handed on the sauce on top of the rolls, and I did request some Unagi sauce, which definitely helped to elevate the flavor profile We both loved the way the Nigiri was presented, and definitely made for fun conversation. The Nigiri is pricey, and was tasty. Naoki definitely should be given grace since they are newer.
