I found out about Origami while at Gami Burger, the owner, Paul DiPierro's other restaurant. It was highly recommended to try the fried chicken because it "is the best in town"! Well! Not one to leave a claim like that unvalidated, I had to give it a try. Since I came for chicken, I ordered the Fried Chicken, Petaluma half bird, infused maple, Szechuan peppercorn, orange and rosemary. While this is not traditional southern fried chicken, its a marvelous fusion of flavors on the moistest chicken breast I have had in a very long time! The flavor profile is so well executed that the various components surface to your senses on a seeming time-release so you taste them at different times during the bite, leaving you with a hint of orange lingering into the next bite. I'm impressed! The staff are some of the friendliest I have met at a restaurant and they are very proud of their menu offerings. A very nice young man, Sam, came to inquire how I was enjoying my meal, as if the growing pile of very clean bones were not enough. Despite him preparing to leave his shift, he took the time to tell me about the special spicy chicken coconut broth they only serve on Saturdays, and even made a special effort to bring me a sample! Let's just say, I will be back on a Saturday! The number of menu offerings is not extensive but, from the dishes I saw on other tables, the portions are generous and look quite appetizing. The ramen here shines in terms of variety and customizable options. By default, every bowl comes with some neat ingredients like seaweed and fish flakes (can be opted out upon request). You pick your choice of protein, broth, and vegetables. I went with the spicy tonkotsu broth, pork belly, and broccoli. Adequate portion sizes for $20, and the myriad of different toppings makes for a pretty appearance. My approval starts to hit a roadblock when it comes to taste and texture. The pork belly tasted dry. Soaking it in the broth didn't help much. Additionally, the broth was decent but I expected more flavor. It tasted like a watered down version of an original, harder-hitting batch of broth. I wouldn't have minded a creamier consistency either. Creative selection, sub-par execution. With Origami's large menu and close proximity to my workplace, I imagine I might stumble back here eventually. I'm willing to give their non-ramen options a try. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I love Gami Burger but this place is on another level. From the beginning we were greeted by one of the most friendliest people I have met. He welcomed us and explained to us the menu. You can tell that he loves his job and he loves the food that his establishment offers. We went with his recommendations and glad we did. The fried chicken is some of the most flavorful foods period that I have ever tasted. How someone can make chicken breast taste so flavorful is shocking to me. We ordered the ramen with the pork belly. Delicious! I really should have stopped there but I got up and ordered the rice plate. It was also delicious. The care that goes into plating the food is amazing as well. The only regret is that we didn't get the workers name. Ordering is easy with the menu options clearly hanging for guests in line to see. The menu has seasonal components, so you may not be able to get the same thing everytime. Oragami feels a little pricey, but the ramen/rice bowl portions are excellent, and the flavors are incredible and deserving of the price point. Without exception, I have to bring leftovers home every time. I had the Petaluma fried chicken (*they also offer gluten free tenders!) and ramen. The fried chicken is excellent, the rosemary is an enticing and unique smell/flavor, pairing very nicely with the orange used and consistently juicy chicken. A great shareable. The ramen included pork shoyu broth, charred onion glaze sauce, glazed pork belly, 63 degree egg, noodles, and I chose vegetable combo #3 of bok choy and green cabbage. Everything was tasty. The egg has a nice jammy section, and the pork fell apart easily--I do wish there was another piece of protein in the bowl though, myself and friend I went with got the Petaluma chicken to help substitute the protein amount in the ramen. There are a good amount of tables to sit at as well as some nooks and crannies that allow customers to chill in different places. It's unique and fun, and certainly different than many other places. Don't go to Origami Asian Grill if you are looking for a restaurant with a large menu and many things to select from. It's really a place that specializes in their bowls. We got there around 11:30 and were able to order right away - I had the ramen bowel with bok choy and pork belly, and it was fantastic! Generous portions, filling, and the broth was very flavorful. They have a number of small tables and bar stools and both indoor and outdoor seating. They brought out our dishes pretty quickly. We found a corner table to relax and enjoy our meals, and they had citrus flavored water as well. During the Friday lunch rush, all the tables quickly filled up and the line went out the door, so we quickly finished our meal and went next door for some coffee. Street parking only. read more

Enjoy the ramen broth, egg executed well. I've also had the fried chicken and bahn mi before. Both were pretty good, one time the chicken was raw. The base prices of the bowl, noodle, and salad just seem silly though, because the meat additions are portioned to be worth only the 6-8 dollars(3oz?) I guess, but like with the rice bowl, it's just a small portion of rice and veggies for 13, but if you get it on the side it's 3&6? I got Ramen with Pork The Pork was a very tiny bit over cooked, but it was still crispy, and it was enough to fill me up. They had special broth that wasn't on the menu (make sure to ask for those). I forgot what mine was called, but it tasted like curry + coconut; it was really good. Just an extra note, my friend didn't order Ramen here (yeah, ik, he didn't order Ramen at a Ramen place aka ordered the rice bowl). He really liked the Rice Bowl. 10/10, would recommend. Just a minor nit tho, I would prefer if you had a better seating mechanism. The pork belly is out of this world and the pork broth is my go-to. I took my boyfriend here a year ago and he asks to come here even more than me! They have a tv which usually has the MLB or NFL (like yesterday) games on if you're worried about missing any sports. I've had Origami bookmarked since they opened, and finally got to try them out for lunch. We got lucky with the last space in the tiny parking lot in the back (otherwise it's street parking in the residential area). The dining room is a lot bigger than I expected, and they have patio dining, which we chose since the weather was great. The simple menu is posted above the counter where you order. Basically, it's ramen, salad, or rice with your choice of protein. They also have $10 bahn mi sandwiches if that's your preference. I got the cold noodle salad with pork belly. That was delicious! I would get that again and again. I don't even want to try any other proteins! The marinated, fried, then glazed pork belly was the best. The sesame and soy based dressing was also tasty and addictive. Even though the portion was big, there were no leftovers, it was so good! Cost was about $25 (for entree + protein choice and a bottled soda), not including tip. And don't forget to tip the hard-working staff!
