Hosted our Mother's Day dinner at Origen Steakhouse and it was a first-class experience from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance immediately grabs your attention and makes you feel like you're on vacation. Elevated atmosphere, people, and cuisine. The hostess seated us right on time for our reservation, the waitresses tag-teamed the table seamlessly, and a gentleman named Alex repeatedly stopped by to make sure we were having a great experience. It felt like a team working together to create a memorable evening for their patrons. What stood out most was Eduardo, one of the owners, personally stopping by to wish the ladies a Happy Mother's Day. It didn't feel rushed or performative -- it felt authentic. You can tell he deeply cares about his patrons and understands why people go out to eat: for an experience, not just a meal. For starters we had the guac, elote, and tortilla soup which made for a perfect introduction. For mains, we ordered the tomahawk steak, bone marrow, and truffle fries. Every dish delivered. We had dinner at Origen in Gilbert last night with friends, and while the experience had some highlights, it also had a few inconsistencies. Service was spotty--our server was courteous and upfront about the long wait time for the kitchen, which we appreciated. However, the pacing of the meal felt a bit off at times. As for the food, the octopus appetizer was fresh but leaned on the rubbery side. The ibérico was tough and chewy, which was disappointing given the quality one usually expects from that cut. On the positive side, the picanha taco with bone marrow stole the show at our table--rich, flavorful, and well-executed. For dessert, the molten cake was unexpected; it had a noticeable goat cheese taste, which wasn't what we anticipated when ordering. We had envisioned something more along the lines of a classic chocolate lava cake. Overall, the menu could benefit from more detailed descriptions to better set expectations. We were really looking forward to a nice evening out, but unfortunately, our experience fell short. Our group of ten arrived and asked to be seated together at an 8-top table--something that has never been an issue at other restaurants--but were initially told no in a way that felt unnecessarily rigid. After some back and forth, we finally found someone willing to accommodate us, which we appreciated, but it shouldn't have been so difficult. Once seated, the sun was directly in our eyes the entire time, making it hard to enjoy the meal or conversation. We asked for salt and pepper multiple times, but they were never brought to the table, which just added to the frustration. Overall, the lack of flexibility and basic service left us disappointed. With a little more attentiveness and hospitality, this could've been a much better experience. read more

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was fun, vibrant, yet still intimate perfect for a special occasion or even a casual night out. Our server, Angel, was fantastic super accommodating, attentive, and genuinely helpful with recommendations. You could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great experience, and he did just that. The food was excellent every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, and felt thoughtfully prepared. You can tell there's passion behind the menu. I wanted to share my overwhelmingly positive experience at your restaurant tonight. Our server, Angel, provided exceptional service; attentive, friendly, and truly made our dining experience memorable. The food was equally outstanding. The mashed potatoes were, without exaggeration, incredible - perfectly creamy and seasoned. We ordered the Tomahawk ribeye, cooked to perfection with the Pittsburgh-style preparation we requested. Broccolini was also delicious. Beyond the wonderful food and service, the restaurant itself boasts a fantastic ambiance. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, enhanced by the pleasant live music. First time dining in ! The atmosphere is amazing ! I've lived in Gilbert my whole life and have never seen such a nice restaurant on the area. The food is amazing. You get started with complimentary beans and tostada. Very delicious. I ordered two bottles of wine because I was having such a good time listening to the LiVe music. The service was outstanding. Maryssa gave me the best top tier service. Out of the tiramisu:( unfortunately I was looking forward to that. But I'm not to upset, I'll just have to come back with my boyfriend and ask for Maryssa again! And I'll order the tiramisu ahead of time or I'll come earlier !! We had the absolute best experience at Origen Gilbert thanks to our server, Christian! From the moment we sat down, he was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, gave excellent recommendations, and made the whole evening flow so smoothly. It's rare to find someone who balances professionalism with such a friendly and personable vibe--Christian did just that. I had high hopes for Origen, but from the moment I arrived, the experience was a letdown. Despite plenty of empty tables, we were immediately dismissed and told the restaurant was fully booked until 8 PM--this was at 5 PM. Service at the bar was no better. Orders weren't written down correctly, resulting in mistakes and missing items. To top it off, they ran out of ketchup--at a place that serves burgers and short rib sandwiches! How does that even happen? Especially when there's a Fry's grocery store right across the street. Overall, the restaurant feels half-baked--not ready for prime time. The Picanha Steak Tacos-hands down the best steak tacos in the history of steak tacos. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Origen is a great new steakhouse/mexican restaurant that opened in north Gilbert. The area it's in is great with a plethora of other businesses. Upon entering, you will fall in love with the decor and the friendly staff! The tables they have are some of the nicest and definitely a place to conduct intellectual conversation as well as devour delicious food. Our waiter, Chris Lee, gave us the BEST service! We had been there 5 mins (not long at all) after being seated and rather than assuming we weren't his table he apologized for it taking so long for someone to help us and immediately took our order. When our food came the steak was a tad under cooked and immediately noticed and had it sent back to be cooked to the desired temp. There was no waiting for appetizers or drinks to come out or be refilled. We will definitely be back with friends. read more

Third time here ... Honestly, if you're not open to understanding the menu or trying new experiences, maybe it's better to stick with the traditional dishes you know. It's really disappointing when people leave low reviews without truly understanding the dish or the culture behind it. Amazing food and great service. The ambiance is great as well, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Make a reservation...order family style to share many plates....you will not be disappointed.
