I love this restaurant and the food generally speaking is always delicious. The oven baked omelettes are huge, fresh, and delicious. The corned beef hash is made in house and is meat as it should be. Tasty and tender and fresh. Today though I had my first disappointing dish - the oven baked Dutch baby that comes with the lemon butter sauce. We poured the sauce over expecting lemon butter. But upon tasting it, we realized it wasn't lemon juice. Or fresh lemon flavor. It tasted like liquified lemon curd - like a melted down center of a bad diner lemon meringue pie. You know that flavor. It was spot on that. And so it was cloying fake and sweet mixed with butter and overall kinda gross. I can't recommend that one. On the other hand, we took a German apple Dutch baby to go and that one was amazing. And in fairness we had the garden veggie one once before and it too is a winner. Skip the lemon sauce.
This venue offers craving inducing food with portions that are beyond generous. The staff is excellent, professional and friendly. This place is great for groups: please see my pictures with the custom extended chesterfield leather sofas. And the decor makes for a bright a cheery breakfast or brunch no matter the weather. My favorite go to is the blueberry pancakes. The breakfast tacos are delicious as well. There are veggie/vegan options. I really enjoy their coffee drinks. All of their lattes are delicious. I highly recommend. Great for catching up with family, friends, post game, breakfast dates or just because.
Is there a better way to spend a snow day than to pack your friends into a four wheel drive truck and have a big breakfast! We got two kinds of baked omelettes, a Dutch baby (and one to go), a side of corned beef hash, and a huevos rancheros. I enjoyed them all other than the lemon sauce that comes with the Dutch baby. I'm not really a fan of sauces so maybe my take on it is skewed but I found it very sweet for a lemon sauce. I ate around the sauce and that part was quite good.
Was craving some breakfast food so came here on a Sunday morning. Walk in only and it can get quite busy - we waited a little over 30 minutes for a group of 4 (which they did say it would be). Once our turn was up, we were seated and overall the waitress was friendly and addressed all our requests. For the four of us we got several different plates and all were quite good. Especially considering the price, the portions were pretty good - particularly the omelette which holy moly was gigantic. Ambiance is exactly in line with their other locations; casual and relaxed. It can get loud with how busy it is so just be prepared to speak up a little. If you're looking for solid breakfast food, can't go wrong with this spot.
Heard that the portions were on the larger side so decided to share among friends. Ordered the vegetarian omelette and it was indeed stuffed with mushrooms, broccoli, onions and Swiss cheese. It's baked and looked like a fat egg calzone. I think I would have liked it more without the cheese. It filled me up quickly and I feel I would have eaten more without the cheese. We also ordered the fresh fruit crepes. The topping was strawberries, blueberries and bananas. It comes with a side of mini pancakes. Usually not a fan of pancakes but these were chewy and not mushy and I actually liked it. Server was great - hats off to Island!!! Friendly and full of good conversation. Very attentive and a big smile! Place was clean. Make a note that this is a brunch house so it closes at 3p. All in all a good experience.
If you're a breakfast person you can't go wrong with the food here. It's got all you need from breakfast platters to the fluffy minipancakes to wraps/sandwiches. We were absolutely stuffed. I thought the pancakes were the best part of the meal and so tasty. When we went on a weekend there was still ample seating. The parking and driving through Edgewater can be a bit of a pain. Otherwise, the restaurant itself I highly recommend. Service is also quick and friendly.
Still My Favorite After 3 Years I've been coming here for three years, and it never disappoints. The service is always warm, the place is stylish yet cozy, and it has that inviting, family-like atmosphere that makes you want to stay. The food is fresh and flavorful every time. You'll find options for every mood--whether it's a sweet start with fresh fruit, a hearty breakfast with meat, or a perfectly balanced combo of cheese, avocado, and eggs. Perfect spot for brunch with friends or a casual family weekend breakfast.
Great service and good food in the most part. The pancake is indeed the highlight of our visit as their name called. The pancake is softer than your usual diner pancake and thinner, soaking up the maple syrup. The omelet was too dry, I was hoping for more silky feel. The Dutch pancake is okay, not a fun with its sauce, too lemony for my liking. My chair was wobbling, which I felt a safety issue and I have to swap it to another chair.
The food was nice, pancakes lived up to the hype, but the potatoes could use some work. The service was nice, our waiter and the host were very nice and food came very quickly despite the large amount of people in the restaurant. And the interior decor was nice, and the flower design on the ceiling gave the place a very nice vibe. Would recommend to give a try!
The best pancakes in the United States. The service is amazing and the prices are great! Everything was delicious and we had the best service during our vacation! I had the day off so I had breakfast with the boys at the Original Pancake House on a Wednesday morning. It's a cute country-looking breakfast spot, only open til 3pm. Makes sense, since the menu is pretty limited to traditional breakfast items. Surprisingly, this is a chain restaurant. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken. The coffee comes with free refills but unfortunately, tasted pretty burnt (at least the dark roast). The rest of the food however, was very good. I got my usual corned beef hash and eggs, subbing the toast for silver dollar pancakes at no extra charge! The eggs were cooked as ordered, home fries were seasoned well, and the corned beef hash didn't taste like crappy canned stuff. The silver dollar pancakes were very cute, and pretty tasty. Bill for four came out pretty high (over $80 after tip), wasn't really paying attention to what anyone else ordered though. Would not mind coming back here. read more
Super bright inside, like a surgical theater! Know for their baked omelettes and pancakes... The OPH delivers fluffy delicacies with incredible speed! The Dutch baby is a spectacular... delicate, sweet and accompanied by super fresh berries, bananas, lemon, strawberries, powdered sugar, butter, and mangos! A delight for the palette! Bacon needs work... it's so thick they must cook it in advanced to have enough on hand which makes it really sad and dry! Great for cakes!!! read more

My boyfriend knew I like good food, so on my only day off this week he woke me up super early and drove me to this pancake house which he claimed they are so good. When we arrived they already packed!! (Just 9.30) we started with some strawberry oj for my sweet tooth boyfriend and ice coffee for me. Then, I got original skittles and chocolate chip flap jake and my man got apple pancake along with eggs white and corned beef. When the food arrived i was shocked. They are so huge!!! We end up packed it home. But let me tell u!! They know what they do!!! Everything taste so good and our waitress is so nice (sorry i didn't catch ur name because of the girl next to us kept screamed) I will come back anytime soon. read more

This place has really won me over. While they do once in a while burn things, the customer service is top-notch. Shawn was today's waiter, and he was so terrific that I decided to update my review. The Dutch Baby remains my favorite thing, and my husband says the pancakes are quite good. The omelette is sometime burned, but not always. THE OJ IS AMAZING. Oh my gosh. Fresh squeezed and delicious. I really enjoy the place. It's not always perfect, but I keep coming back, so that should tell you it's a worthy spot to dine. read more
I've dinned at the Original Pancake House quite a few times and it never lets me down. If you plan on going during the weekend, I would recommend going after 10:30am. If you go earlier you'll most likely wait for a bit of time, but the convenient thing that this location does is text you once your table is ready so if you don't want to be squished in the waiting area you can stroll around City Place. I'm boring at breakfast I like my coffee dark with pancakes as the main meal with a side of bacon and potatoes. Their portions are fairly large so I usually share my sides with whomever I dine with, on my last visit I found out you can get a short stack of pancakes which isn't listed on the menu (this made me SUPER HAPPY) Chocolate Chip short stack - YUM. read more

This is my new favorite breakfast place! From the food, service, decor - everything is wonderful. The Dutch Garden pancake was one of the most wildly unexpected delicious meals EVER. I am not a huge mushroom fan, but this all came together so beautifully. Delicious veggies mixed with cheddar and mozz on top of a fried crispy pancake. Are you kidding me??? AMAZING. The classic pancakes are also amazing - strawberry pancakes have loads of strawberries with whipped cream and a delicious strawberry syrup on the side. Incredible - I recommend the short stack because full stack is actually way too huge (unless you're VERY hungry) There's usually an extremely long wait on weekend mornings, so try to plan this right (off hours, week days, etc.) It's a must try! So This is my first time eating in OPH since Covid. I used to go often before. It's definitely a good breakfast spot which is a rare thing in this foodie world. I noticed that their menu scaled back some since Covid which is slightly disappointing. In the past they had a larger variety of breakfast items and some lunch items as well. This place has the best coffee and I love their mugs. Having the coffee in their mugs makes for a cozy experience. They give you a large bottle of water on the table either still or sparkling from their water filtration system. For food typically I would get a baked omelette. The omelette come out huge and fluffy because they are baked. This time I was being fancy and got Huevos Rancheros with egg whites. It was very good. Had a sour cream drizzle, black beans, and cheese. It was a perfect size, not too much and not to little. My friend had a mini Dutch Baby which was interesting. Had a subtle sweet taste with a lemon sauce to go on it. Definitely not your normal pancake.. I think everyone should try it once. The staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. The restaurant is in a weird area in a plaza. It is often packed on the weekends. They used to be BYOB but I don't know if they still are but oddly enough I don't think people know that they are/were because I've only observed someone bring a bottle once in my years coming here. I would call ahead of time to confirm. I do believe they need a new location. The tables are very close to one another. However, Overall great place to grab breakfast ! read more

(Order that "Original Skillet") I was not a fan of pancakes, in fact I hated them Until i went to this place. Dennys, perkins, Ihop are nothing compared to the pancakes at this place. I absolutely LOVE OPH. I've never been disappointed and I've always found something on the menu to satisfy my cravings. We recently visited after New Jersey started to allow indoor seating and the staff couldn't be friendlier. The restaurant is incredibly clean and they do a great job with social distancing here. Greg introduced himself to us and we initially thought he was the owner, he spoke with so much positivity and has a lot of pride for this restaurant. The food is always hot and fresh. I stopped eating meat a few months ago, but if ever I break my streak, it'll be for their bacon. After coming here, I stopped going to IHOP. Nothing wrong with ihop, but OPH is my favorite breakfast place (and I'm from NYC where there is an abundance of options). I've seen a lot of restaurants close due to the pandemic and I have to express the importance of supporting places you enjoy visiting. Please give these guys a try, I promise you won't be disappointed. Oh!! And how can I forget, make sure to get the fresh squeezed orange juice! read more

I've been to this place twice and both times with family. There is plenty of parking so that's always the least of our worries. This place is pretty popular and we've waited at least 20 minutes each time for a table. The waiting area is very small so be prepared to get friendly with those around you! The interior of the place is very cute. It has a very homey feel to it and although some tables seem close together, it also feels like there's plenty of space to move around. During this most recent visit, I ordered the Vegetarian Oven-Baked Omelette. Our server mentioned that it was going to take at least 15 minutes to be made and I appreciated that so I wouldn't be wondering where my food was while everyone else's came out. He wasn't kidding when he said it was going to be a "football sized serving," although it looks much smaller in the pictures. It's stuffed with broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheddar cheese - all the things I could ask for. There was so much that I took most of it to-go. My sister got the same thing but without the cheese and she enjoyed it as well. My mom ordered the Corned Beef and she loved it. There was also plenty on her plate and she took it to-go as well. My cousin orders the Chocolate Chip Pancakes whenever she comes here and swears that they are the best pancakes from anywhere. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast here and we will be back! read more
Atmosphere: Wait was ~60 minutes Tuesday around 11 AM. Not much sitting area to wait. The whole restaurant was packed the entire time, very loud, a lot of children. Service: ok, took awhile to get coffee and drinks but food came out pretty fast. Food: portion was actually smaller than expected. Dutch baby was good, could have been fluffier. Freaking love this place. The dutch babies are so delish and puffy, and I have not been able to find any other place that serves these, so I keep coming here to satisfy the craving. Their omelettes are huge, baked, and so airy. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. And everything is so tasty, thankfully portions are big, and you get to take some home to enjoy later. read more

Hi Friends, This review is a comparison of this OPH in edge water NJ and The Dallas Texas OPH. Service was slow and server was not attentive to the customers. Food was delivered COLD Sent back and returned just as COLD. Waitress not friendly,not attentive Bathroom had no soap nor paper towels. The food is worth the wait. I arrived late Saturday morning with my wife. There's a line for parties of 2 or another for more people. The wait time was reasonable and gave us time to look at the waiters deliver the delicious breakfast selections to other tables. I ended up getting the Strawberry Dutch with coffee and wife got house potatoes, eggs and toast with fresh squeezed orange juice. We ate every bit and were fully satisfied. I definitely recommend this Original Pancake House. Parking in this area may be a challenge so give yourself extra time. read more

Wow, I haven't had breakfast this good in a while. I tried the Original Pancake House a few years ago, and this experience was far better. The omelet, pancakes, and French toast were really tasty and much better than I expected. All of the items tasted fresh and were very filling. The omelets are comparable to most other places in terms of price, but they give you six eggs and pack them with toppings. Definitely a good item to split, if you want to get something savory and sweet. The only downside here is wait times. If you have a party larger than two, you'll probably wait for at least 30 minutes during peak hours. Larger parties probably have to wait even more and you cannot call beforehand to reserve a table. Parking can also take some time, but at least it's free. Ambience is nice and wide open. Food is prepared very quickly! An excellent place to grab breakfast or brunch! read more

10/10 across the board. I've gone twice so far and each time was amazing. The food it's absolutely delicious and the prices are crazy affordable. Plus it's a lot of food so you will have left overs. Also the restaurant it's self has such a nice atmosphere, however I would recommend coming early because it does get packed. It can be a hit or miss with the wait so I guess it's just a matter of being lucky! read more

This place is seriously delicious! I went with a group of friends recently and we all decided to order a bunch of things for the table and share it all because everything sounded SO good. There wasn't a single thing we didn't love. First of all, their orange juice is the best because it's fresh squeezed but you also have to try the strawberry orange juice. OMG, yum. We ordered an omelette, which they bake, and it was so fluffy and just perfect. I totally recommended getting a side of their salsa verde and topping your eggs with it -- to die for. We also got the berry and Nutella crepes. Both were incredible! The crepe was perfect and not overly sweet. However, my personal favorite was their almond crusted French toast! So, so, good and I would totally make the trip from NYC every weekend just to have this French toast. Not only was the food incredible, but the service was great as well! Our server was Julio and he made our breakfast that much more perfect with his friendly service and great suggestions. Can't wait to do breakfast here again soon! I'll be dreaming of the French toast until then! read more

It's pretty simple: 1. Get here reasonably hungry 2. Be prepared to wait If it's your first time, definitely get one of their famous omelets. Definitely order the pumpkin pancakes. And definitely do not dare to leave unless you get the Dutch baby. You'll leave so full you likely won't have dinner! Love this place for doing all the comforting classics perfectly. Waitstaff is nice but they turn A LOT of tables. read more

I've had the White Plains Original Pancake House location bookmarked for a while, but never got the chance to actually make it there. While in Jersey one morning, I was so excited to see they also had a location there. At first glance, the restaurant is very packed, and we were worried we would have to wait long for our table. However, this location does an excellent job at organizing the line to be seated. We waited no longer than 5 minutes and was greeted by our lovely server. Everything on the menu looks and sounds so delicious, so it was hard to choose something. I ended up choosing the original skillet and the short stack buttermilk pancake, which was very tasty. My fiance ordered the apple waffle, which was topped with vanilla ice cream and apple slices! You really get what you pay for here. The portion sizes are huge, and we had enough to take home for leftovers! Finally, the customer service here was excellent! This is truly a family friendly restaurant, and it gives you a warm communal vibe as soon as you enter. Even the manager took his time out to greet us at our table. We will definitely be back next time we're in Jersey. read more

Dutch baby pancake is one of the best food on earth..... they have the best orange juice too. you have to plan ahead of time when you're coming for the parking and prepare to wait in line. the servers and staff are all friendly and works very fast. How did I not review this place already?!?! Im almost certain I did already and now Im wondering what would have happened to my review?!? Figured out what happened, I reviewed on FB and not here!!! Ugh, How could I?! (this was my review from Easter Weekend) Ok so went Easter weekend On Vaca with the kids in the area & needed to go for Breakfast, WAY Nicer than I originally expected luckily my kids were behaved enough that I wasn't too embarrassed about them being little hellions. Manager/Owner came over to our table soo many times, Was totally genuine and truly cared about his customers. The food... THE FRENCH TOAST Specifically.. OMG to die for, we loved so much that we went back the next day & brought some back to Boston with us... I would literally drive there again just to visit Pancake House, so bummed we don't have one up North. The staff was overly accommodating, the menu was great, the portions were HUGE. The decor was great & comfy. Love this place & will def be back! and now... I just went back to NYC for the weekend again with the fam (NO KIDS) and went back for Breakfast again... Manager wasn't there and I was bummed I wanted to show him we brought back the whole fam as promised! Got some more French Toast (to go even - and they package it in PERFECT to go containers with everything separate) OMG soo good! Already planning the next trip back & cant wait for my Bacon & French Toast! read more

They have gluten free pancakes!!! Ok that's not all but it was great to find good nongritty gluten free pancakes. I had the huevos rancheros as well and it did not disappoint. Very nice and patient service. They were knowledgeable of the menu and we did not feel rushed. read more
