I've been here a few times and the food is consistently delicious. The wait can be a bit long in the mornings especially on the weekends but it is worth it if you decide to stick around. My aunt wanted to go here for her birthday and our wait ended up being around an hour and 20min on a Saturday around 10am. You also can't sit until the entire party is there. Everything on the menu is so good. Can not explain it any other way. The staff that I have had have always been attentive and friendly. Only strike against them is they do not allow you to call and get take out. You literally have to sit down at a table or the bar. There's a lot of comments about the long waits. We were here at 8:00 AM and there was no one here. Apparently New Jersey doesn't get up early for breakfast - which we should have gleaned when the place doesn't even open till 8. I got the 4x2 and the pancakes were indeed, as the counter people assured us, were "the best you've ever had". I believe they are correct. After selecting our breakfast options, which would be made easier with a flow chart on the menu, we enjoyed some fine coffee and an interrogation on our comings and goings. When they learned we were on our way to Fredericksburg and we engaged in Civil War topics, they must have heard the bell for the end of history class. They did keep checking on us. The eggs and sausage were fine. The bacon could have been cooked more and, thou we asked for onion and peppers, they were not added. Never disappointed every time we come here! This spot has become one of our favorite breakfast places and it always hits the mark. I ordered the 4x2 -- four delicious pancakes paired with two perfectly cooked over-easy eggs. The pancakes were fluffy, buttery, and incredibly satisfying. I also added a side of home fries with peppers and onions that were cooked just right with great flavor in every bite. And the thick-cut bacon... OMG! Crispy, smoky, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the corned beef hash with eggs and mini pancakes, which was another winner. Everything came out hot, fresh, and generously portioned. If you want to try this spot, be prepared to wait for more than an hour especially on a weekend. But it's worth the wait. All their menu items and drinks are made freshly. I was impressed with their orange juice as they make fresh batches every morning and you can taste the pulp and freshness. All their jams, syrups and toppings are also made onsite. When I say I never had pancakes taste like this before I MEAN IT. I love iHOP but this has NOTHING on it. Not a fan of their waiting system. Felt like I was in a doctor's office. Waited in an anteroom, got a text to check in, checked in, and then sent to a larger waiting room to continue waiting. My wife, very much enjoyed her simple salad. In one of those size doesn't matter moments, my enormous Weston omelette was tasteless until I added heaps of Tabasco sauce. All the Original Pancake Houses have impressed me, but this one feels very modern and cool inside. There's a good-sized parking lot and the employees are very friendly. The menu has a lot of options, and the pictures help sell some of their items, as it tempted me to get the California omelet. The server warned me it was like 4-5 eggs and baked so it would take some time, so oh man, was it a sizeable bundle of eggs and toppings. It's egg-filled and topped with avocado, bacon, tomato, and sour cream. It is enough to hold you over past lunch and then some. And it comes with an adorable tiny stack of pancakes which were not needed but much appreciated. The Dutch Baby is also a pretty special dish. It's pancake-like, but thin and bowl-shaped, but the powered sugar, butter, and a squeeze of lemon is all the topping you need (syrup would be too much.) The medium roast coffee is pretty robust, and the booths are spacious. It's more upscale than a diner, but it's still good dishes at reasonable prices. read more

Had to shout out the service really quick. For both visits I had amazing waitresses. This past visit, our waitress gave us to go cups of the drinks we were drinking! I have never experienced that north of PA, and as someone who loves her beverages, this won a lot of points with me. The coconut pancakes are delicious and my mom's favorite. Visited Original Pancake House this morning for breakfast! We arrived around 9:45 and we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. Similarly to other reviews, we were told to sit in different waiting areas until they finally seated us which was a little strange but service was fast. I ordered the Huevos Racheros and they gave me mini pancakes to try since it was my first time at the restaurant, which was a nice gesture! Iced Coffee was just ok. I was expecting it to be sweet as described on the menu but I had to add sugar to it. Huevos Racheros were good but I would've enjoyed having more refried beans on it. All in all I can see myself going back again and trying some of their other options as they do have a lot of offerings on their menu! read more

3 stars, mainly because I'm not a huge fan of the fact they use peanut oil in all of their batters. It definitely isn't a common thing for restaurants to be incorporating into their foods, and surprisingly this notice isn't in larger font on their menu and on signage in the restaurant. I've visited a handful of times so far, trying to give Original Pancake House a fair chance since the line is consistently out the door and people seem to love it. Both times I left disappointed & just don't know what the hype is about. It's definitely better than iHop/Dennys, but for the price I would much rather eat at home. The pancakes: meh, not the best I've had but also not terrible. Both times I've had them they were definitely dry though, so be sure to cover them in butter and syrup. Breakfast plates: your standard bacon and eggs. Portions seem to be small but price tags high in comparison to diner food, so keep that in mind prior to visiting and waiting in a 1 hour + long line to be seated. read more

Our first visit was awesome. My daughter had hot chocolate which came with homemade whipped cream and chocolate chips, she finished the whole thing. The coffee was great. I had the avocado toast that came with an amazing salsa verde. My daughter ordered the Challah French toast that was sweet but light. I finally got to try this place on an early Friday afternoon. I had their Strawberry Banana and Cream waffle and it was so delicious. The waffle was made perfectly and I love the combo of strawberries and bananas on top. They put just enough cream and it was super light, not overly sweet. The server was nice and checked in to make sure we were enjoying the food. I liked the music that they were playing throughout the restaurant. I always prefer booth seating and we were able to get seated after waiting about 5 minutes. It was a full house so I see why the parking lot is always busy. Wow!! The fluffiest eggs I have ever had...at the OG pancake house!! I heard so many good things about this spot. On a Saturday morning there was already a lot of people and roughly a 20 min wait. Luckily the inside was spacious, and they were able to accommodate us even after we missed our beeper lol... Service was superb- so fast and friendly. After driving for 4 hours, I had worked up an appetite so my family and I stopped by this breakfast spot. I am not sure if there was an event nearby which brought more people in, but it was PACKED! We put our name down and waited about 45 minutes - there were people inside and outside waiting as well. We were seated at a table by the windows, so getting some natural lighting was good. The menu has pictures which was nice to help visualize what you'd be getting. I wasn't in the mood for a traditional breakfast (bacon, eggs, potatoes, etc.) so I picked the huevos rancheros. I liked the toppings the crispy tortillas came with, but the pico de galle had far too many onions. After picking out most of them, there was close to nothing left. I wish it was topped with more beans rather than a thin spread. The egg was cooked well, and the salsa verde was really.good. Both the salsa verde and the pice de galle were a tad bit spicy. My plate came with the option to add a stack of pancakes for $1.25. I instead added challah French toast for about $4 more. The French toast was really tasty, but the stack of pancakes my brother ordered were extremely cute, light, and also yummy. I was also able to try the avocado toast. The toast was a but burnt, but there was a lot of guacamole, with a bold taste. The inside is big and gives the feel of luxury without paying the price of luxury. We were jamming as we ordered, waited, and ate. It drowns out the sound of everyone else's conversation and it was great, don't lower the volume, ever. The place has a vibe to it, the service was fantastic..Rich, our server, was a Rockstar! Owner/manager (not sure) could not have been friendlier, great conversation and hospitality. The host sat us quickly, and there was a crowd that just kept coming and going. They turn over tables, seat people, and serve you quickly, food was hot, and amazing. I was blown away by the menu, I wanted to order everything, but I had to go with my all-time favorite...Huevos Rancheros! Now their version may not be traditional but it was super and super fresh. I wanted more. I also think next time I'll get extra salda Verde and an extra egg, but man was it delicious! Reminded me of an excellent Huevos Rancheros I had in California a few years ago, so so fresh. I also got a side of banana pancakes covered in chopped pecans with the banana sauce; WOW! I was ready for a nap. Wife got the Dutch baby apple. It was enormous, hot, and delicious... she barely put a dent in it... but I ate some later with vanilla ice cream (pro tip, lol). I have to give amazing compliments to the staff and service. This past Sunday my girlfriend and I were seated immediately and we were fine with the seat but the hostess who everyone called Miss Kathy came over and apologized for the draft and said she had something for us. My mom and I have always drove past this place and we kept saying "one day... one day" well today was that day. For me personally the outside does not match the interior, but I mean this in a good way. It was pretty loud but I believe this was due to the acoustics. It's very family friendly, and has an extremely welcoming vibe. Music was playing but it did not distract from table conversation. Service was amazing. When we arrived it was packed so I was utterly surprised when they gave us a 15minute wait. 15 minute later our table was ready. The waitress was also really sweet. Now for the food. Ofc I had to get pancakes and some sort of omelette. My mom and I ordered omelette that came with a side of silver dollars and my brother ordered a short stack. This place is booming so something is right. Right? I'm not so sure about that. We came here to celebrate my mother turning 60. The wait was 35 minutes, and we were called in exactly 35 minutes. That is pretty impressive for a busy place. They accommodated my infant niece and toddler nephew with ease. The space was a bit tight and loud. If the name didn't give it away, this place is known for its pancakes. It may seem silly of me to review this place without trying their pancakes. I like what I like. So I tried none. I ordered their Santa Fe omelet and added feta and bell peppers on top with sausage on the side. It came with a side of mini pancakes. When I told the waitress that the omelet did not come with any feta, she said it was inside--the feta was not. I also did not taste any jalapeño. The manager brought me a nice gravy boat of feta, which was probably more than they would have put on originally, so I was happy. My son ordered a huge waffle and added Nutella with thick bacon on the side. He said it was the best waffle he has ever had, "even better than mom's". He promised not to tell, but I did. My omelet wasn't great, but it was good. It came with a salsa verde-style sauce on top. I wish there was more of it because it was delicious. My only complaint was that their griddle was not cleaned of previous items cooked. Who doesn't like a little carbon on their food? OPH is a fun breakfast / brunch spot that we chose based on both the reviews and its location near the highway -- we were meeting friends who were driving through and figured it would be a pretty good option. Well, it certainly exceeded our expectations. You should probably very much definitely come hungry, and if you are eating savory, you absolutely need to get a table pancake (stack). We went for the table short stack of blueberry and even though it was more than enough, the regular stack (double the pancakes) is only $1 more. Our waitress tried her best to get us to upgrade. We didn't need to...but we should have. The omelettes are gigantic so be prepared, but the egg plates were sized just right for a hearty brunch. Definitely get peppers and onions on your potatoes, and if you don't opt for table pancake, you can replace your toast with pancakes too. I can confidently say that OPH makes is so easy to eat a pancake regardless of what you order there are very few scenarios where you will not have one. In true diner fashion the coffee is hot and bottomless, and the prices certainly do not match the quantity you get. The restaurant gets packed and is total chaos at times. Some of the menus are dirty and I had to ask for a different water glass and silverware since it was dirty. However, the food was pretty good. They have fresh squeeze orange juice which was good. Their pancakes take 5-7 days to make and they were pretty good...Light and fluffy buttermilk flavor. Their home fries are seasoned and they add onions and peppers if you want. Then of course, eggs are eggs so nothing more and nothing less on that front.
