Service is friendly and the food comes out fast and piping hot. The siu mai was incredibly flavorful and larger than normal. The shrimp dumplings were juicy. Dumplings are served with two sauces -- a hot sauce that is very spicy and strong, and a hoisin-based sauce. The preserved egg with pork congee was bland and light on the toppings. There is lots of seating available and you can pay with card.

Not on the menu, but they helped with knife and utensils for my birthday cake!

We order a family meal set and it was a great deal! I was extremely affordable and we had leftovers to go. Some of the dishes, like the pork needed more salt or felt bland. But overall, I had a positive experience here! They were kind enough to help store a birthday cake we brought ourselves and after the meal they helped us with paper plates and the utensils. The space is spacious and comfortable!

I've been coming here for years. The food is always high quality and delicious. Two of my favorites are the hot platter tenderloin beef and salt and pepper fish filet. I recommend coming here during a weekday before the rush hour. There's another place called Triple Crown but it's not the same. This is the ORIGINAL! You'll love this place.

Very impressed with authentic family style Chinese dinner at humble @originaltriplecrown in Chinatown. Every single dish was served hot fresh and perfectly seasoned. Service was superb and prices reasonable. Highly recommend and definitely returning sooner than later. One of a few Chinese restaurants able to seat 14-16 people at a big round table. No bar but beer is served. Parking meters or Chinatown parking lot (validated discount $3 for 3 hours at participating businesses).

This is the perfect restaurant for a huge group of people, as their round tables can fit up to parties of 8-12! This is your very very traditional Chinese restaurant, no frills with huge portion sizes! They give you so much complimentary food: a big bowl of white rice, a big bowl of comforting soup, and a red bean soup dessert (one of the best I've had in a while - not watered down at all). The prices were so affordable too, though a bit more expensive than what they list on the menu. The standout dish was the braised green pea sprouts in broth with century egg (上湯豆苗)!!

07/07/23 - I was originally at Seven Treasures Cantonese Restaurant on Wentworth. After waiting for 42 mins for my order to come I finally got up & walked out. I walked down the street to 22nd Place & stopped in @ THE ORIGINAL TRIPLE CROWN RESTAURANT @ 211 W 22nd Place. I went upstairs and ordered & 5 minutes later my salt & pepper smelt w/jalapeños was on my table w/a bowl of white rice & hot chili oil. That's the was to do it 5 minutes not 42 minutes Very good food & service. They are also opened late nights & serve 1/2 sized servings & full sized servings. My wife works the second shift once in a while. We have stopped by and ordered 3 - 1/2 sized servings to share family style.

Here it shows the beef chow fun plate NOT OFFERING small and large options.

Pretty underwhelming unfortunately. While I do like that this place is open late, I went here last night around 10pm and I looked online at their menu and called to order my beef chow fun plate(pictures below show the pricing and size option for that plate-which it only comes one size for $10) the guy answers and is very quick in conversing with me (that's fine) but I tell him I would like beef chow fun and crab Rangoon ($6) and he answers back "small?" And I say "Yes small please" and then he hangs up on me as I'm saying "please" lol. Well of course when I get there my order (instead of $16-$18) is $26?!?!?! I asked the guy at the counter why it's $26 because the beef chow fun is $10 and crab Rangoon is $6 but the guy says "you ordered large beef chow fun next time order small" uhhh hello, I did order the small but you hung up on me lol. It's okay, I wasn't gonna argue especially if the food was good it'd be worth it to me. On the receipt it said the beef chow fun was beef broccoli with noodles and I asked him if that is still the beef chow fun I ordered even though it's labeled something else and he assured to me it was still beef chow fun in the bag. When I got home, i opened the food up and pretty disappointing unfortunately. Not only was I swindled and charged more than what I ACTUALLY ordered, but food was not that good at all. Disappointing sadly.

Stir fried snow peas with garlic, braised oxtail with tofu skin, stirfried bitter gourd with preserved soya

As a Cantonese from Canton who lived in NYC, LA, and SF, I rarely get surprised by Cantonese restaurants. But I was amazed by the food here. Fresh ingredients are a must, so it goes without saying that the oxtail, snow peas, and bitter gourd are more than satisfactory. The cooking style and flavour is authentic Cantonese, and not just in the modern way but the traditional way without adaptation to non-Cantonese palates. I wish there's a restaurant with this chef in Connecticut

One thing about Chinese restaurant service is that they all lack great customer service, however you know the food is bussin when you eat there. It was hot as hell outside, but inside felt like a freezer. No matter where we moved, i was bout to turn into an ice cube shortly. We ordered 6-7 entrees, congee, noodles, different proteins & veggies. Things took forever to come out but you already know that's just how the service be sometimes. Overall, the food was good. One of the dishes was spiced to perfection, the one with visible onions/ I don't know what any of these dishes are called. But if you think this is what you want, just show them the pictures. They'll know! Ambiance ain't just a little loud, but business was poppin inside. I liked the congee, super refreshing per usual. We ordered two noodles, one looked pan fried, other stir fried. Stir fried just tasted like vermicelli noodles while pan fried noodles was crunchy and had a sauce. Would suggest if you're hungry at night & looking for something healthy to eat instead of fast food. Prices were fair and the works there did their best with the people they had. 4/5

We stayed at the Airbnb across the street and found this late night gem easily. It was a fun experience. Loved the big tables with the lazy Susan. The food was all delicious. Be sure to try the crab ragoon. The staff was a bit slow but they were very friendly. Overall I just liked the option of eating yummy Chinese after a full day of Chicago activities.

Located just off the main street of wentworth in China town. Minimal street parking i recommend a lot then walking around and exploring the cafes shops after you eat. Authentic flavors and a large menu with various dishes and dim-sum. There is family style menu as well as a la carte. Great lunch and late night menu, staff is friendly and prompt bring tea ams water immediately then making menu recommendations. Beef chow fun was good portion with alot of beef all very clean cuts. To compliment with I tried the beef dumplings all pan seared perfectly. Overall great value and portions and good service.

We've been going here for years This is still a hidden gem for some delicious, affordable Chinese dishes you can have quality Cantonese food that they serve. It's located on the second floor not to be confused with the other one with the same name on Wentworth which is not the ORIGINAL one. Service was on point with Ken, and it's a BYOB, with no corkage fee since we always bring a couple of wines to pair with our delicious food. Ambiance is your typical Chinese restaurant, bright and spacious, clean bathrooms. Overall we keep coming back, and not too many know about this place which is nice and a hidden find for our family'.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.

We had starters - fried calamari and a spring roll sort of thing. We also had eggplant, another stir fry and walnut shrimp. All of it was fresh and delicious. To be clear- it was delicious! It's just that I had already had two fried appetizers so would preferred something lighter. The eggplant dish was my favorite! And the special cocktails were also delightful. The restaurant is very busy and a little noisy at times, but it didn't detract from our experience.

It's crazy it's completely died down by the time we were finished with our meal. The service was great, the interior decor was beautiful and the staff was friendly. The dim sum offered for brunch was good as well but pricey. Especially since some dishes were only offered with two pieces. If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. We were going to order wings but they had ran out I guess by 12pm on a Sunday. I was also going to order fried rice but it wasn't offered for brunch. Overall despite the priciness of the menu, we still enjoyed our food and the service. I obviously knew what I was getting myself into by visiting this place, and can definitely see myself returning in the future.
