I sadly will not be returning to Oscar Nail Bar. This used to be my salon of choice, but the last 5 or so visits have been anything but enjoyable. I gave the salon one last try before writing this review to see if maybe I've just had a string of bad one-off experiences, but sadly the salon is not what it used to be. The front desk team lies about wait times & will often leave you forgotten and waiting (with or without an appointment). The staff makes you feel like you are burdening them by requesting any services--I've asked for design, extra massage or add-on services when booking and in return I get eye rolls or they just refuse to do it. This last time I got the basic pedicure (fearful of splurging again and being underwhelmed) and it was obvious that I was not a priority, but rather a task. I was done in 20 minutes and sent on my way. Nail treatments are a luxury for many people & something to be enjoyed. Everyone took such care of my fiancé and I from hand to toe She was so meticulous and it still took under 2 hours, I was really pleased! I've been getting my nails done here for a year now. They were my first manicure, back when I was chomping my nails and cuticles daily. They were gentle with my skin and nails and gave me advice on how to take care of them to encourage growth and healing. I have ridges on my nails from psoriasis as well, and every manicurist has done a great job not over-filing and filling without them looking uneven or bulky. Every nail job has been amazing and lasts a loooong time! I've had some really bad manicures at other places when I've been out of town in Houston and paid more for less service. Pro tip: this is not the place for a quickie lunch break manicure. Everyone there is so careful to get things perfect that it does take a little bit longer than some other places (that do not do as nice a job). I've been going to this salon almost 1 year now because of habit/convenience but after terrible customer service and the worst dip manicure I've ever gotten, I won't be back. Save your money and get a better mani somewhere else. On April 10, I came in for a dip powder manicure in anticipation of two weekends of back to back weddings. By April 20, multiple of my nails were chipping. This is NOT normal for dip manicures and I have never had this happen before. I took pictures on my iPhone to document this but I was very busy and couldn't go into the salon. I just went back yesterday(April 30), and showed the ladies at the salon how destroyed my nails were. One of my nails has snapped where the dip had completely come off. I figured that Oasis would see that this manicure was terribly done, and would give me a discount toward my next manicure. (I wasn't asking for a free one, because I understand regular wear and tear and my nails had def grown out over the last 20 odd days). They refused because I didn't call the salon when the chipping started. As if me calling (without coming in) is somehow better proof than a time and date stamped iPhone photo. Also they implied it's because I chipped my own nails because of my profession...I'm a lawyer not a construction worker. Absolutely love Oscar!! Been a client here since not too long after they opened. Had previously been going to local salons that either didn't have a big color selection or were so busy (when I had an appointment) they were doing my nails on a TV tray. When I walk in Oscar, I'm greated by name and treated like a member of the family. I normally come in with a fancy design and they do everything they can to make it happen. They have a huge variety of colors and services they offer and I definitely don't mind a piña colada while I get a hot stone massage. I went in for a mani/pedi and both women working on me cut me because they weren't paying attention and more interested in talking. Even when I flinched because I was already cut, she just chuckled and said "oh is it bleeding?" The lady doing the pedicure also could not stop coughing. I have a nail that has a debris under the top coat of the clear layer they put for dip because she didn't wipe or check prior to putting the top coat on. I expected to be paying $45 and ended up having to pay 70 due to their prices not being the same as they posted on the website. The staff was super super friendly and seemed to build personal connections with their customers. One of the workers knew the name of each person that walked in. I love that! The only problem I had with this place was that they didn't have acrylic nails they only had dip and gel. Came here with my two friends. Everyone here is so patient and sweet. I take forever to choose my nail color and sometimes I feel rushed at other places. I didn't get that vibe here at all. They simply started on my friends' nails first and started taking care of me as soon as I was ready. I got dip powder nails and tried oval for the first time. The first time I got powder nails done somewhere else, it was painful and my cuticles were injured and raw. This time, it was so gentle and she did my nails beautifully with so much ease. I knew I needed to get my nails done before the inevitable lockdown due to the Coronavirus and my normal salon was already closed. I just got dip on my nails done. 5 days after, one broke. Currently in dallas for work & I want say I travel a lot for work! So finding a good nail salon sometimes is challenging. I always use yelp to find a GOOD nail salon. I wanted to pass on my great experience to the next person needing the same advice. I will say hands down my favorite salon in America right now! Called @ 10:15am, got an appointment with Johnny @ 11am. I suggest Johnny for natural nail work. I can not give my personal opinion on him with fake acrylics due to I did not have those done. He is kind, friendly, and a great conversationalist. He did my shellac manicure in less then an hour! He is fast but EFFICIENT! I want to make that know fast and effective is possible with a great nail tech. He helped me pick out the right shade of purple, he listened to my needs, and did an excellent job on shaping my nails. Not only was I impressed by his work. I am impressed with the business as a whole. They are a new salon opened since June 2017. They moved to this location to expand their last business. The ambiance in the salon is modern, upscale, and very high end. I loved every little thing including the decor they purchased, the lightening, the music, and the comfortable king chair I sat in for 45 minutes. The salon is HUGE with over 55 chairs available. UPDATE: I'm changing my initial rating from 1 to 3 stars because the manager reached out to me to apologize, offer a 15% discount in a new service with their best technician and refund what I paid for the manicure. I have a terrible experience here. I went to get my dip powder manicure removed and get a regular mani-pedi. The person who was removing my dip powder manicure had NO IDEA of what she was doing, other girls in the salon were telling her what to do at every minute, at a point she burn my nail base with the tool she was using!! After my dip powder was finally off she started filling my nails with a file for acrylic nails, not for natural nails... when I asked her to fix the filing because it was uneven on all nails she got mad at me and grabbed one of my nails and furiously filled, she DESTROYED my nail! I've never been so upset in a nail salon before. I asked for another technician to finish my manicure. Unfortunately it wasn't much better either. And the nail polish they used was very old or expired because there's bubbles in all my nails, plus I took this picture the morning after I got the manicure there.. is all uneven, cracking and chipped.
