Oscar is always watching you

We have been trying to track down Thomas Dambo's trolls around Seattle last year we found 3 and we set out to find the last 2 this year. Oscar is easy to find, but I didn't know we were near a lighthouse so now he gave us another reason to come back and visit next year!

Oscar The Bird King is a wooden troll statue made by troll maker Thomas Dambo. This was the last of the trolls I wanted to see that is tucked away here in the Pacific Northwest. It's a cool one too! With his authoritative pointing and a crown with bird houses in it and a wisened beard this is one of my favorites of the trolls that I have seen. To get to the troll all you need to do is go to Point Robinson Park. Probably the biggest challenge is locating the troll but finding parking and the small crowd that is often present with these trolls. If you don't mind a few strangers in your pictures then that's cool. If you want it to look like you're alone with the troll... well good luck with that. It might be awhile before seeing another troll. At this point the closest ones is one near Jackson, WY and two in Colorado.

Limited parking but beautiful kid and dog friendly park. Makes a great half day trip on the ferry. Bathrooms available (outhouses).

What an amazing artist, all the way from Denmark. You can find his work all over the world. Vashon island was blessed with this piece. When you arrive it is as if the bird knew their king was there! There are many paths to roam and a lighthouse to view as well. Outstanding and peaceful

I took the car ferry from Point Defiance to Vashon Island and a 20 minute drive later I finally got to see him.

To be a small botanical garden, there's a nice walking path and many, many beautiful flowers and plants to see. There are often local community events hosted here. Activities for the young to adults. They have classes that you can find and sign up for on their website as well. And the classes are affordable!! You may even see people taking wedding photos here because again it's beautiful. The park is ADA friendly. The path is dirt and pebbled but can be navigated with a wheelchair. There are bathrooms on site and a small shop. I have never purchased bulbs or plants from here but I know there is a big community around that. The coffee shop in the garden can get busy. But a benefit is we were able to charge my husband's wheelchair there on a visit. While the park is open every day, the coffee shop is not. Definitely this should be a spot for all locals. And not just a one time visit either.

Once the entire family met up, we climbed back into the car and headed to Bellevue. Not sur if it was due to the time. But we were surprised there was a lot of parking available. We spent a good 2-hrs here which included getting lost and finding other street entries into the botanical park from a school and from other busy street corner at the bottom of the park. Nice and shaded, quiet little creeks, plenty of seating for those that were inspired to journal, plenty of elderly people using this time to exercise and stretch. We enjoyed the different areas like the swinging bridge, the Japanese garden and even the little cafe they have there. Fairly priced items and plenty of tables to enjoy a refreshment and snack. By the time we were done, the gift shop was already closed. So I took the opportunity to drop a donation into the box instead.
