I just started working In Tustin and I am thrilled to have this shop around the corner. There is such a variety, I am there 2 or 3 times a week. The amount of business that is lost by this place for not being on doordash or other food delivery services is incredible. The work from home folks need to order from other places because it's either not an option or it's closed after we get off work. This little deli is tucked away in a small shopping center that is not easy to spot right away. However, once inside you are greeted with a friendly welcome. They have so many different sandwich options but you cant really build your own from the ground up so if you are looking for a build your own you need to be flexible if you are coming here. My husband ordered the turkey sandwich and added onion and avocado to his sandwich and picked a pasta salad for his side. I ordered the Italian sub which was delicious and it held together very nicely especially since I was eating it while driving in traffic I added avocado as well and got the macaroni salad. Loved the sandwich and all it's colors but the macaroni salad was not good...I am not a huge fan of them to begin with but I thought it looked good and would give it a try. Won't try the salad again (only had a few bites) but for sure recommend the sandwich! Mine even looked better than my husband's haha. As for the inside, there are a few tables and a tv but not somewhere I would want to sit and hangout for awhile. There was about one table right outside the deli as well but it is shared with the other stores so this a more of a pick up and go type place I would say. read more

What's Good: for about $7 for a good size sandwich and soup, it's hard to complain about anything here. The Chicken Club on French is really good. Not dry and full of flavor. The Italian Sub is good and I'd get it again, but it's a fairly basic sandwich. I have found my new sandwich place. This is a great small hidden gem in Tustin. Ordered the chicken Philly cheese sandwich. It was really good moist didn't have mayo but it wasn't not necessary. The chicken was moist enough and the onions and bell peppers were just cooked right. For the little one she gave thumbs up for the grilled cheese all sandwiches come with a side. The fruit salad was ripe perfect and good portion. You won't break the bank either!!! I order for 4 including drinks and the sides total was $26 I think it was a great price. This place is super quick & convenient. I usually get a half cold sandwich(tuna or chicken salad) and a side of pasta salad @ $4.95! I mean, I can't go wong for lunch. The sandwiches are not gourmet... but have a homemade feel. I was sad to see an earlier post about hair in their food... That's never fun! But I haven't had that prob yet here. So my Yelp friend N.H. and cuzin's recommendation put Oscar's Deli on my radar for some time. I didn't realize that it's actually located in the same biz plaza as my 2 "Good Eats" restaurants. I've seen it, driven by it, and parked in front of Oscar's many times. Today, I get to actually walk into their door and try it out. As soon as you get thru the door, there's a board that tells you what their "SPECIALS" are for the day. We ordered the following: 01. Chicken Salad Sammie ($5.25) - 3 Stars Chicken Salad, Lettuce, Tomato on Wheat Bread and a cup of Beef Barley Soup - The chicken salad was just chicken and mayo and probably salt/pepper. Simple, I tend to like my chickie salad a little bit more in terms of flavors. the soup was very simple, not bad, good size portion for a side. Sammie was decent, not dry at all. I've had better but totally worth the $5.25 with a drink and the soup. 02. Grilled Roast Beef Sammie ($6.45) - 3 Stars Grilled Roast Beef, sauteed Bell Peppers, Red Onions on Rye Bread, a side of fruit salad and a drink. - There were plenty beef, grilled peppers & onions. Wasn't my pick but it was decent. Again for the price you pay, you sure do get a lot of food. You can tell this place is a local joint with local people. They knew people by their first names. It got pretty steady and I noticed everyone knew what they wanted and didn't even bother to look at the menu above. Will I come back, you betcha! NOTE: Friendly staff and the place was pretty clean. Yelpers: you completely steered me wrong. Not only is this place not fresh, there was a short black hair in my sandwich. I have long red hair. Do you see it in the photo? Attached to my very dry squaw bread? I took it off and placed on the napkin. Disgusting. Anyways.... I ordered the bacon chicken salad sandwich no tomato and added avocado with summer salad and chips. Lettuce was super wilted and the cucumber in the salad was not crisp. First time here, my coworker is always talking about this place so I decided to give it a go. Glad I did! I ordered the turkey lunch special. Turkey sandwich on whole wheat no mustard add avocado. With a cup of split pea soup and a drink for 6.99?!? Get outta town!! That's amazing. The sandwich was great, and the split pea soup was amaaaaazing. Staff was friendly and quick. What can I not say about this place. It's an average little deli (so you think) then you just end up trying almost the whole menu because it's that good and authentic. I come on my lunch once a week maybe more & he never fails me not only with a awesome balanced flavor to his food but also the waiting nomothetic then 10/15 minutes. I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food at Oscars but yesterday they went above and beyond. I came in at 10AM to order 9 lunches for my office. I gave them the individual orders that I need in an hours time. They bagged each individual order (covid careful), put their names on their order and it was all ready at 11. I received such nice comments from everyone that attended the meeting and a couple of the clients asked for Oscar's location etc. they were going to use them for their next inter office meeting. Love this place ! It was my first time with my boyfriend for lunch and they have great deco + it's pretty clean + new inside considering it's been under new management for awhile. We ordered 2 egg salad sandwiches - 1 plain and 1 with everything, which includes tomatoes and lettuce. My boyfriend ordered 1 plain with avocado which pretty much consists of just the egg salad and bread (whichever kind you prefer) + the added avocado. What's good about this place is that when you order a sandwich you get to choose a side and they have a great variety of sides (potato salad, salad, fruit salad, I forget what else they have, etc). They also have chips and munchies (cookies, etc). Another perk of this place is that they have lunch specials for under $8.00. Pretty sure we'll be back for other sandwiches. Each sandwich comes with a side, that is about a solid full cup. 6 different salads to choose from: ambrosia, pasta, coleslaw, fruit, potato, cucumber. Tuna melt was a-ok, nothing special, and I didnt care for the potato salad too mushy, not enough flavor. They have dirt cheap salads, which is what I will be getting next time. Everyone raves about the soup and breakfast burritos. I just wish the service was more animated and alive. I don't know if they heard my order wrong or something because I actually got a whole sandwich. It was a damn good price at around $6.50 anyway. Chicken salad sandwich was fresh, creamy, and not too mushy. The pasta salad had a nice zing to it as well. My only regret? Not choosing a soup with my lunch combo. My co-workers got the chicken noodle and chili bean soups. Both looked home-cooked and delicious. The soups change daily, so make note of the menu. January 28, 2017. Again, we are back. They put in new hardwood floors which look great. We are creatures of habit ordering the Sub sandwich, drink and chips. Today, my husband ordered the Cole slaw. We are still coming to Oscars under the new ownership. The sub sandwich on French roll are made with fresh ingredients, plenty of meat and the roll is soft. The pasta and macaroni salads are fresh and flavored perfectly. The new owner is very friendly and hands on. We see him every time we come here and he delivers our food. N I laugh at all the reviews commenting on the grumpy old man who takes the order. He may not be the friendliest guy, but he makes the best sandwiches and salads. My husband and I come here at least once a month. We order the submarine sandwich with a side of pasta or potato salad. The bread is soft and fresh. He uses quality meats and you can taste the quality. His selection of homemade salads are amazing. I especially like the pasta salad. This is a wonderful local, neighborhood deli shop.
