Service is fast and warming. Had to confess that I did looking up this hotel before staying here and found this restaurant. Looked up the menu and I am a sucker for a good baked shank. Starting off with two types of bread with butter which was very good. Ordered the Lamb Shank and it was excellent. Not to be confess with beef shanks ( Osso Buco ) but just as tasty. Soft, tender and moist. Sitting on a bed of artichoke harts and potatos with brown gravy. Pros: Everything was good. Cons: My dinner partner had the stake and it was dry and tuff. Would I return? Bonjour from Canada... We had breakfast at Osco this morning. We were greeted and escorted to a table by our hostess. Our server invited us to the buffet. It is an all you can eat buffet with coffee and tea service. In an addition I had a custom made white egg omelette. The buffet had all of the trational breakfast suspects like eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, etc. The Canadian specific items included crepes (the standout for me) and French pastries. The language is French primarily in Montreal. I had to brush some French out of the cobwebs of my brain. The restaurant was sparsely populated when we arrived at 7:30 am by 7:45 am folks were coming in droves. We did not feel in pressure to rush out the restaurant. I have mixed feelings about hotel restaurants- sometimes they're winners, sometimes not. They're also unadventurous. But lately, hubs and I have lucked out. Osco! located at the InterContinental Hotel in Montréal, is flipping the tables on this idea and sexing up the scene with an elegant dining area, a very nice menu- both AM/PM that speaks loudly- all with excellent service. Osco! is done in creamy whites, whitewashed brick wall areas, upholstered loveseat sofas and blonde parkay floors. I honestly feel Osco's style comes together specially during dinner time when the soft glow is where it's supposed to be. Because really, it's all about the lighting. My smoked salmon on a Montréal bagel was anything but basic and 'un peu de fromage de crème' was expertly honored when I told my server and hubs enjoyed his Yogurt+granola+ berries for breakfast. Our dinner the following evening was tasty as hell. I second-guessed their scallop+Mushroom risotto plate- but that sucker was fantastic. The risotto was rich, comforting and beautifully creamy. And the scallops? Three sizable gems pan-seared to perfection with a caramelized golden crust and a succulent inside. The dish seemed small, but that shit was filling. Hubs took a 360° and ditched the red meat, pork or poultry and had the Wok Vegetables with thin lo mein noodles. We were both speechless. We have no idea what the 'signature dish' is here- but the fact that both our dishes weren't overcooked, I applaud them. read more

We came here for a group gathering and we were provided with a 3-course meal menu. 3 choice for appetizers, entrée and dessert, including vegetarian options. Cocktails, wine and beer menu was the usual, from the bar. I ordered Burrata Bella Casara for appetizer and I like the combination of cheese and fig. For entrée, I chose Fillet de Bœuf, medium. I really like how it was marinated and cooked exactly to my taste. I went for Poire Chocolat and it was a perfect ending to my dinner. The staff are very attentive and helpful that contributed to making our dinner even more pleasant. The restaurant is open until 10pm, but the bar remains open till midnight. read more

Osco! is located within the intercontinental Montreal hotel, and it is incredible. We stayed at the hotel but when we came downstairs for breakfast we saw the beautiful restaurant and smelled something tasty and decided to stop in. For breakfast, they offer an a la carte or a breakfast buffet. We decided to get the breakfast buffet and let me tell you it was not your ordinary buffet. Every single thing I tried was fantastic. Croissants, bacon and sausage, eggs three ways (scrambled, Florentine, and eggs Benedict!), and the most perfect breakfast potato's I have ever had (crispy on the outside and airy and fluffy on the inside). They also had a beautiful assortment of French pastries, and each one I tried was better than the last. The restaurant itself is beautiful, they have a great vibe with wooden floors, nice play on color in the furniture and accents, comfy and spacious seating, and big windows to look outside. My only con was that I felt the price was a little too high for just breakfast, but honestly treat yourself here you won't regret it. Truly delicious!! read more

What an unexpected delight! I don't usually enjoy hotel restaurants, but Osco! was a wonderful surprise. We went for an early dinner on a Friday night and were warmly greeted by Ivan, who was both charming and engaging as he seated us. Our server, Mark, was equally professional and personable. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and started with the Salade de Santori. I had asked to remove the anchovies, but Mark encouraged me to try them on the side--and he was right. They were small, delicate, and not overly salty, a pleasant surprise. We also shared the Fromages Locaux et Charcuteries Italiennes (local cheeses and Italian cold cuts), which was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The food was excellent, the service memorable, and the atmosphere refreshingly unpretentious. I will definitely return and happily recommend Osco! for a truly wonderful dining experience. This was my first time having a 4 course lunch & they did not disappoint! The service was amazing! To get there come into the elevator, up the escalator, pass the check in and walk towards the B&W plates on the wall...the restaurant is right past the plates on your left. It was a little difficult to find which is how I saw the Berlin Wall! We started with a wonderful fresh salad with tomatoes, cucumber and a balsamic dressing. The veggies tasted like they came fresh from the garden. Then it was the Salmon tartare with a citrus dill dressing; heavier on the citrus ... thankfully! I had the salmon with the mashed potatoes and herbs. It was prepared perfectly! For dessert, I had the cheesecake that I had to find space for because the rich Carmel sauce was amazing. To say I was being full was an understatement. The menu was also translated into English (below the French) which made it so easy to practice my French without fear of what I was ordering. The service was amazing ... it is a 5 star restaurant & hotel so you should expect that but it really was great! Also there it's a courtyard area attached to the hotel and there is a piece of the Berlin Wall in there. Yep!! It's a must see ( I attached a picture) I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

What can I say? Ask the waiter for napkins and water and had to remind him twice for both of these things on separate occasions. The way they handle cutlery and plates is as though they're serving food in an IHOP. The food was all right, but all I got as a side of vegetables were three dry nuggets of artichoke and a heaping full of potatoes when I literally told the waiter I'd rather just have vegetables with a bit of potato. I'm a native of the city, but I'm afraid they mostly cater to tourists and people who don't bother complaining about these things. If you're a tourist, I guess it's really convenient to have this restaurant there. The lamb shank was quite good, but otherwise I'd honestly go to another restaurant. I wondered why the food was so cheap but then we were about the only ones there on a Saturday night other than maybe a few other couples so obviously they're not very popular but that's always nice because it's not too busy. This is why boggles my mind that the server looked like he was overwhelmed and running around when there was really no work to be done unless he's doing three other people's jobs in the back kitchen. The maître D was quite nice, but in helping the server, he kept dropping things all the time, and they probably should stick them in the back cleaning dishes, rather than being in the front. Not a great experience. Would not go again. But I might try it again just to see whether or not this was an exception. One last note, dish trollies should be kept in the back, not in the front where people are eating where people can hear all the dishes, moving around as though they're in the back kitchen. Made an effort to mention that in my reservations that I didn't want to be near the kitchen, but hey, I was in the kitchen anyways while I was eating. read more

We almost passed it over because it was in a hotel. That would have been a terrible mistake. Oscoda was one of the food highlights of our lovely trip to Montreal. The atmosphere was simply beautiful. Nice music, fresh flowers on the table. Wonderfully polite, helpful and friendly servers. The wine choices were stellar. The menu was absolutely beautiful. They also had a very nice prix fix for Canada Week, which I opted for: choosing Fois Gras on spiced toast with apple chutney, walleye, pan seared with a collection of beautiful flavorings...capers, onions, grilled asparagus, corn, etc....it was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I had a few bites of my son's amazing Poutine. Wow. Perfect crispy fries with a robust sauce espagnol ans cheese curds. Never had it better.. For dessert, apple taking with maple syrup and a perfect quenelle of French vanilla ice cream. Don't pass it over. A truly stellar dining experience. read more

Recently had brunch at Osco! and reallt enjoyed it. Especially enjoyed the waffle chicken dish! This restaurant located inside the intercontinental hotel is also very beautiful. Being conveniently located in the InterContinental Montréal definitely helped my friend and I's decision to have dinner here. Just a short elevator ride from our room and the waiter took us to a table by the window where we could watch the sunset. The waiter informed us of the specials after we had a brief look at the menus (paper version and tablet version). The seafood risotto he told us of sounded delectable so we went with that and crab cakes. My friend thought that the risotto could be creamier and cheesier but I thought that it was just right. Any more cheese or cream would've made it too heavy for me and I would not have finished it. There was a large clam, piece of lobster, 2 large shrimp/prawns, small muscles in the risotto. I thought that prices weren't that high considering it's a restaurant in a high end hotel and the service was wonderful. Breakfast: The thing that impressed me most about breakfast was the fact that there was smoked salmon. I don't think I've seen this offered during breakfast at any other hotel I've stayed at before. Fastest full breakfast ever with no rush to leave. Realized after that it was included in my hotel rate. :) I rated it a four based on actual prices which were hotel pricey. Breakfast special was scrambled eggs with cheddar and chives. Subbed my sausage for tomato. Cream is the default, but milk is available on demand for coffee. Delicious. This restaurant was conveniently located inside the hotel we stayed at in Montreal. So we decided to give it a try. Came here for a snack before dinner. Looked at the menu but felt like there was not much to eat. We ordered the foie gras. It was foie gras pate. Was cold which I didn't like that much. I prefer my foie gras seared. We were thinking about ordering the beef tartare but decided not to. But the waiter came by with the beef tartare anyways and said it was complementary on the house. The beef tartare was pretty good. I liked it better than the foie gras we ordered. But not worth the price. We also ordered room service and the food was made by this restaurant. Had the salmon. But the salmon seemed overcooked and bland. There was barely any flavour and it was dry. The vegetables that came along the dish tasted like frozen veggies that were microwaved. Pretty disappointing. Overall, this restaurant has really nice decor and friendly staff members but the food isn't good. read more

1. This restaurant is GORGEOUS. It's kind of mid century modern but a little warmer. Beautiful design. 2. The staff - wow - so professional, kind, fun, present and engaging. 3. The house wine. Delicious. I had the cab which turned out to be Californian! 4. The food - we are the cheese plate, salmon tartare and lobster mac. All of it was a little unique - the chef is an artist! My cheese plate has some interesting herbs and amazing cheeses! 5. The prices - this is a FANCY restaurant with great prices. They even had a three course meal for $25 for lunch! (Canadian $25!!) 6. The portions are huge. We are talking half the food back to our hotel. A magnificent experience! read more

I want to write regarding our experience with the server at Osco. This is the hotel restaurant at the Intercontinental. Service is terrible with the server named Mark (I would give his last initial at least but the hotel was hesitant to give us his name and got it only because we would not leave). He was rude, raised his voice and made and raised hand gestures inches from my friends' face after being asked a question once kindly and calmly by two asian women. He was demeaning, condescending, unprofessional, inexcusable and wrong specially for an establishment such as the Intercontinental where I've stayed across the globe. We should be over this behavior and bias! The restaurant management at that time even if they were in house refused to come out and address the issue. The issue had to be resolved by the concierge manager and there was no resolution except a card saying, please complain here. A little background, we are hotel guests and have been staying there booking two rooms for four people and three nights over memorial day weekend. I can commend our experience and everyone we met in the Intercon from concierge to bartenders who've given us nothing but A service. Since checking in, my friend has been having the hotel staff store her breast milk for her infant in their restaurant freezer as they could not provide a freezer in the room. The hotel suggested using Osco freezer and that they would make a section for her and gave us instructions on what to tell each staff and how to label them. Check. Upon checking out, my friend and wife went over to get the breast milk as my male friend and I went to checkout. This was when the "Mark" experience happened. Mark went to the freezer and under a minute came back with his voice raised, insinuating ineptitude for lack of labeling that he said we did not do and the audacity for us to disturb his service because he has more valuable customers, which actually we also are. Because he had blown up, he was hidden right away and this request was now handled by a female colleague who found the breast milk right away in it's own bucket all clearly labeled. Another co-server kept peering his head to see if there is a commotion starting outside. We kept our cool and just asked for the names, which they were hesitant to give. Fine. Manager couldn't come out either for us to complain even if he was in house. Fine. Let this be a lesson to people of all races, gender and color that this is not a fine establishment and that backwards thinking still exists here. Albeit not all, but if they are not going to hold anyone accountable, then it is also my responsibility to call out this behavior. Do not come here. Go to the many wonderful restaurants and people in Montreal instead. A short walk is Holder with the best mi-cuit butterscotch dessert to have ever been made, you will leave happier and more satisfied. read more

Wow! I ate here while staying at the InterContinental Hotel, and I was thrilled! For dinner, I had the calamari as the appetizer, which was one of the best I've ever had. The ribsteak was also amazing. My wife ate the salmon tartar, which was also amazing. The next morning, we ate at the breakfast buffet, which had a great selection of cereals, breads, and omelettes. In particular, the crepes with maple syrup was simply out of this world. I can't speak highly enough about this restaurant. Try it! read more

Normally I expect restaurants attached to hotels to be above average, somewhat conventional and unsurprising. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that this restaurant has a Provençal menu. At the time of writing this, on the brink of summer 2019, there is an amazing lobster bisque on the menu, choc-a-bloc with sea-fresh clams and mussels. My parents are in the market for a more upscale joint, the type that doesn't advertise itself as "classy", you know? So naturally they started to look into hotel restaurants. So out of the blue we went to the Old Port, and ended up in the beautiful Intercontinental. Right off the bat, I'm smitten with a place that has a couch for you to wait on. Fancy! You'll be glad to know that the restaurant passes the bathroom test with flying colors, but what about the food? The appetizers were lovely, I had some eggplant cakes, my father chose fat slices of salmon, but my mother hit the jackpot with the fried calamari. Those were among the best fried things I have eaten! We selected the table d'hôte, (which is a blackboard brought to your table). The mixed grill platter was humongous and looked pretty great, but nowhere was it written that my seafood casserole would be 75% rice! Hey! I liked the decor, which was pretty cosy (you get to sit in armchairs!) but it seems Osco! has a bit of an identity crisis: is it hip? or is stuffy better suited to the premises? Gaah! As some point the jazzy lounge sounds just got irritating. Speaking of irritating, look, my parents know they got an accent, but after two decades of Quebec potholes, winters and construction seasons, it's grating to sit down for a fine dining experience, and have the waiter go: "So you must be tourists! What brings you here?!". And SHUT IT DOWN. Also, we sorta wanted to celebrate Mother's day, so it wasn't too cool on the staff's part to care mainly about my dad. Wow this is long overdue. For the end-of-the-year celebration with my girlfriend in 2015, we visited Osco for a nice meal. We didn't expect any special menu that week but were pleasantly surprised with a 3-course meal for $35/person. At that I was a bit skeptical, wondering if the food quality will be sacrificed because of such value that was being offered, like what we often see during the Restaurant Week in many NY restaurants. Boy was I wrong. I think the Chef took extra care in preparing our meal, because everything that went into my mouth that day was fantastic, not to mention that it was visually appealing when presented to our table. I never knew an octopus meat that I was given for appetizer in generous portions could be so tender and soft. The piece of steak that I ordered for the main entree was far better than what they serve in dedicated steakhouses. When I inquired about absinthe since I never had an opportunity to try before, our waiter was kind enough to passionately give a short history lesson, and suggested a few cocktail combinations that are great with absinthe - which just turned out to be as great as he mentioned. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the experience that Osco allowed me to take that night. read more

Ate here for breakfast in the hotel pretty much every day before starting out. They have an excellent breakfast buffet and fantastic coffee. After night after night of drinking and excess this nice place is a perfect start to another day in this beautiful city. Food was ok... We like to eat out in Old Montreal... We ordered the steak, it was very thin and very dry! My chicken dish was uneventful. We were there over 2 hours and it wasn't even busy! The waiter ignored us for the most part and did not go out of his way for anything suffice we were one of the last to leave! Last friday, December 3rd 2010, we had our "little party bureau" with 11 people. From tapas until dessert with an excellent choice of private wine collection everything was so good, tasty, well presented and perfect. EVERYBODY enjoyed all the meals and all the wine in a really perfect harmony. The "ambiance" in a modern decor and near the fireplace, the long table and so confortable big chair and the "service" were cozy and perfect. Food was okay but terrible service. When we told our waiter that we received the wrong dish he said he would look into it and then avoided us for the rest of the night. He was very rude and condescending about it. We ended up leaving early because of how bad it was, but we were still charged for the wrong meal and desert which we did not receive. I had a truly disrespectful and appalling experience at Osco last Saturday. Truly insulting. We made reservations for 10:00 pm as part of the MTLATable event. My friends arrived from Ottawa and I came from Laval. I confirmed with the restaurant our reservations the night before, and even tried to push it to 10:30, but the person on the phone said the latest reservations they can accommodate for MTLATable is at 10:00 pm. We arrived and were seated, and for some strange reason the waiter decided to fill 2 of our cups with water, then go to another table and fill their cups, before returning to our table and filling my friend's cup. Who does that? So already we were getting a bad vibe from the place. Then the waiter shows up and gives is the snacks menu. We told him we're here for the MTLATable and would like to see that menu. He tells us the kitchen closes at 10 and they can only serve us the snack menu. We explain that we were here for 10, our reservations are for 10, but he said the kitchen is closed. We asked to speak to whoever is in charge of the restaurant. 20 minutes later, the waiter shows up with the person who's supposedly in charge of the restaurant. Her name was Julie. We explained to her that we had a 10:00 pm reservations, and that we were her for MTLATable not to have snacks. She said in a very cold manner that the kitchen is closed and there's nothing she can do about it. I was shocked. We showed her our reservation confirmation, and she said she's not sure how that happened and that we should not have been able to make a 10:00 pm reservation because the kitchen closes at 10. I mean is it my job to explain why their system allows for this? What kind of an answer is that? I told her that I called the night before to confirm, and the person said the latest reservation is 10, she says she doesn't know who I spoke to and that they were mistaken. Apparently, according to her, since the kitchen closes at 10, the latest reservations they can take is 9. It's as if we've never been to restaurants before! Then she just abruptly says she will speak with someone to see why we had a 10pm reservation, and that we can order off the snack menu, or go have dinner somewhere else. She will not open the kitchen for us. EXCUSE ME? We then ask her how can she not take responsibility for her own staff, and how can she not know who answers the phone and responds to customers. She says she's not in charge of the restaurant, she's just the "Duty Manager". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? And why should I care? And why was I speaking to someone who's not in charge? We ask her to get us someone who's actually in charge of the restaurant, and she says there's no one there. I ask for a contact name because this unprofessional and disrespectful treatment cannot go unanswered, she gives us a generic card for the Intercontinental number and writes the name of the manager on the back. We asked her for the name of the waiter who was serving us, and she says "I don't know". I literally tell her you don't know who went to get you so you can speak to us? She pauses, flashes a truly smug smile, and simply writes a name at the back of the same card again. Truly truly shameful and appalling behaviour. I of course call the number and leave a message for the manager (Mr. Jacky Bruchez) to call me back. He did call me back, and I explained our Godawful experience to him, and the repulsive and unprofessional behaviour of Julie the Duty Manager. He was apologetic, says their must be some confusion because the Kitchen is supposed to serve those who arrive for a 10:00 pm reservation, and on top of that they can always make exceptions and provide the full menu to customers. I was flabbergasted and livid! I told him straight up Julie the Duty Manager has lied to us, told us the latest reservations they can honor are those made at 9pm, and that she cannot open the kitchen. He again says she was mistaken and doesn't fully know how the system, works. Clearly this establishment thinks it's ok for some customers to be treated with disrespect and doesn't think honoring their reservations is something they must do. I must say that Mr. Jacky did invited us back and said he would prepare something special for us, but I explained to him that none of us would ever return to this restaurant, which he understood. I then told him for his sake and the sake of the restaurant I hope he has a talk with that Julie person and explain to her that lying to and deceiving customers just because you're lazy or don't know how to manage is unacceptable and shameful. So here are my 2 cents. If you don't want to risk disrespect, dishonesty, unprofessionalism, and a ruined night, stay away from this place. We had a horrible, nasty experience and don't wish for anyone to experience something similar to it. And if by some unfortunate change you find yourself there, I hope for your sake you never cross paths with the nasty, disrespectful Duty Manager Julie. read more
