Nice people, until they're not. I am a senior, on a disability medical plan. I called to get an…read more"estimate" for a partial, to replace the metal one I've had for over 10 years and was told to come in. On the day of my appointment, before I even left the chair I was presented with a $2000 estimate for the work to be done (on an upper partial only), that required my signature before I left their office. The lower partial was to be done "down the road" when I had adjusted to the upper. They insisted on a $500 deposit (due to my being a first time customer? I am thinking a Blue Cross recipient...) and after paying with my Visa card, was assured they would contact my insurance providers before proceeding with the work. 2 phone calls to them within 2 weeks and they told me they still had not got hold of my insurance providers, and were, in fact already in the process of making the partial, and would only be allowed submit the bill when it was "in my mouth". Ignoring my instincts, I went in for a fitting 3 weeks later, and they STILL had not confirmed coverage, so when I explained I could in no way pay the bill up front, they were very curt, complaining they would have to spend precious time on the phone with the ministry to "push them to put this coverage through", and made sure I understood I would not receive the partial until the bill was paid in full, and then abruptly said to the assistant "all future work on the upper has to be stopped". Then they left me alone in the room, feeling very small, and I walked out without them saying so much as a goodbye. I made some phone calls that afternoon, and I found only a 10th of the bill was going to be covered.. They must surely have known how much the ministry covers before starting the work! I realized I would need to stop their services, so I emailed to further explain my personal situation (partner in stage 4 cancer, unable to work), but they did not care, nor did they even bother to reply to my email. I had already offered to forfeit my $500 deposit as they had started the job, but now I have no new denture, nor do I have any Blue Cross dental coverage for 2 years as they made sure to to take the last $350 of that plan as well, the second they read my email. They also took what they could from my secondary insurance plan ( attempting to invoice for the full amount) which was only $75 as they don't cover denture services. On top of that, I won't qualify for another partial for 5 years now! At no time was I offered a hardship payment plan with them, or any kind of solution to my problem. It was ALL about the money, and I felt absolutely no compassion in them whatsoever. I would recommend anyone on a fixed income, who doesn't have good insurance coverage, to save themselves the grief and go elsewhere!
