This place is so good that I went twice within a 3 month period and ordered the exact same things lol. Mussels, pork ragu, and carrots. Second time had the brownie as well. My favorite dish here is probably the mussels, great flavor and would probably go well with a glass of wine! The first time I came I tried a cocktail which was very good but because the dishes are very flavorful it might have been too much sugar/salt. The portions here are huge as well so I think for the price its very worth it. It's a cute restaurant as well with open kitchen so great for a date if you're sitting at the bar or if you have a group the tables are pretty big as well. Overall, it's pretty spread out inside which I really appreciate and I have found that it's pretty easy to get a reservation last minute. My experience was nothing short of spectacular. Once I told my friends I was visiting town for the weekend, we immediately said we would do dinner. This place was the winner, and it was everyone's first time. We got in at our reserved time, and we had to wait about 5 minutes before our table was ready. Once it was, we were taken care of and quite frankly had no idea what treat we were in for! Let's start with the drinks. They have a drink on the menu called Celadon City. Who won the staff as a pokémaniac?! I had to get it just for the name. The rice vodka, yuzu, melon liqueur, and other flavors made it a fantastic, summery drink. My friends got the Smooth Landing & Smooth Talker ... One was a fantastic dirty martini and the other had the best bite of ginger. The food... Oh my God. We decided to split the breads and spreads and burrata... Each came with their housemade grilled focaccia, and the smoked paprika hummus and ricotta with chili honey? WHEW! The burrata dish with the sweet potato, pesto and tomato jam was a hit too. The menu didn't even say I'd have a balsamic drizzle on top! All of that was just the warm up... My gnocchi dish was spectacular. I'm not even a big mushroom person, but those oyster mushrooms and charred kale were a hit in the pasta. My friends' gigli pasta and mussels were great too. Waitress recommended family style meals were the best so we ordered 4 meals it was plenty of food for 4 people but the meals came out two at a time some of us eat meat and some fish only so the dinner was sort of staggered with some eating and others waiting. When we asked where the other dishes were she said it was set up that way on purpose but she rectified as soon as they could. I visited Otis twice and I've sampled the whole menu with the exception of the fish and gnocchi. But somehow both times when I order the braised pork pasta and the P.E.I mussels, they're more than halfway done before I remember I need to take a picture. There's a lot to be said here because I've taken my family and my mother in law here and I've heard nothing but glowing reviews. This is coming from my picky mother-in-law and one of my usually stingy family members. The chef here knows exactly what they're doing because every dish that comes out of the kitchen is delicious. The P.E.I mussels in particular are to die for and if you get one thing, it has to be the mussels. The braised pork pasta is delicious and hearty and sure to feed at least three people. If you're coming with a larger party, the ribeye can't be overlooked. It's juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Make sure to balance their protein mains with one or two of their lighter dishes like the grilled baby gem lettuce or the rainbow carrots. And make sure to come hungry because these are sizable portions. Outside of the food, the ambiance and the service are amazing. Think cozy dinner in someone's dining room with the couches in the waiting area and the eventual move to the dining room (table). The staff are personable (friendly and genuine hosts) and anticipate your next move ("need bread with the rest of that sauce?"). Otis is the definition of family style in a sea of restaurants who call themselves family style while overcharging you for 20 tiny tapas. You won't leave Otis hungry, neglected or broke. Last night, I dined here again with my family. Once more, it did not disappoint. Here is a rundown of our meal. Curry Celery Root Soup (8/10) - Heart warming and soothing for a cold winter night. Light curry and a touch of cream definitely enhanced the celery root puree. The pumpkin seeds adds a bit of earthiness as well. Delightful way to start the evening. Burrata (8.5/10) - One of their signature dishes that lived up to the hype. My entire family thoroughly enjoyed this dish that was extremely creamy, velvety, herby, and refreshing. The toasty house made focaccia paired perfectly. P.E.I. Mussels (8/10) - The plump and tender mussels swimming in the creamy pepper broth filled with crumbled sausage pieces were delightful. The sauce was so good that we needed extra bread to sop it up. They charged $1 for the two extra pieces of toast. Hokkaido Scallop (8/10) - Full of umami in every bite. The buttery scallops were cooked perfectly, however, they were very small for the price. Also, the waiter said that the risotto was made with uni, but I only saw one piece of uni and did not taste it in the dish. Regardless, the risotto itself was excellent. Pan Roasted Branzino (9/10) - What a wonderful dish consisting of a crispy skinned, moist and flaky fish sitting on a bed of vinegary lentils. The touch of olive tapenade adds a hint of saltiness, while the honey dipped peanuts brings some crunch, nuttiness, and sweetness. There were a few slices of jalapeño, but no real heat. Amazing! Dark Chocolate Brownie (8/10) - Rich, semi sweet, this was a yummy way to finish. The scoop of vanilla ice cream and freshly made whipped cream rounds out a very good dessert. The space is charming and the service was friendly. I gave every aspect of this restaurant 8/10 across the board. However, sometimes, the sum is greater than its parts. We had a great time at Otis. We were seated at the counter with a perfect view of the open kitchen. The mezcal based cocktail I ordered was a great surprise. I normally don't like mezcal but this was perfectly balanced with the yellow chartreuse it was mixed with among other delicious ingredients. The bread was delicious and came with butter and a specialty daily dip which was eggplant based on this particular day. The bread was a mix of a focaccia and then a sourdough. I only partook in the sourdough which was delicious. Admittedly, I had too much of it especially since we also enjoyed some with our mussels. The mussels came in a gorgeous sauce with parsley and tomato. The host (maybe manager?) came around and offered to select some amaros for us which we took him up on along with a shot of espresso. Otis, My Man! - Animal House I planned out both dinner and show Friday night for my wife. I have the first reservation at 6pm but in order to make this all work she has to leave work a little early. She says it shouldn't be a problem but all I'm thinking about is their homemade breads. If there's an issue, I may leave late. Woman, set yourself on fire and run out of there! Once inside, this is a beautiful space in Bushwick. Bushwick always makes me laugh. If my grandparents were alive they'd say the rosary for me. Bushwick in the late 70s? As I see the subway across the street, I can see why in 2024 this is a popular neighborhood. Walking inside, there is a long beautiful looking bar that's stocked with some high end booze. I was about to order one of the great Scotch offerings but I see a smoky & spicy Otis signature drink called "Revenge Of The Line" made with Mezcal, Charred Pineapple and Habañero. Ah-mazing. The Otis Menu isn't broken down into starters and mains. The Otis team lists everything, figure it out and order. My wife & I made this work. Starting with the Burrata and the Roasted Beets. The Burrata was on top of this Sweet Potato and Tomato Jam. Once the burrata was cut open, delish! We slathered the cheese on the charred focaccia, soo good! The roasted beets with Ruby Frost Apples were another solid dish. What made it next level was the Crispy Quinoa and Candied Pecan bits. Highly recommended. Next, Lamb Meatballs and Braised Pork Pasta. We're sitting at the chef's table and watching these guys cook is crazy. They have 5 pans going at once and they are hustling to get food out. I see them take the Lamb Meatballs and put them on the grill to get that charred goodness. When they're finished the Lamb Meatballs are plated over a Tomatillo Tahini. This is a phenomenal dish, and the definition of phenomenal: very remarkable, extraordinary. Finally, the Braised Pork Pasta. This was something I never had before, it says miso but the underlying flavor tasted more like cinnamon. House made Gigli Pasta with Pork Shoulder which was cooked low and slow, fork tender soft and loaded with flavor. This dish was topped with House-Made Ricotta. Best described as a little heat with sliky tomato sauce, the Braised Pork Pasta is the best dish on the Otis menu. The desserts looked amazing but we were so packed I had to say No Mas. After some really outstanding experiences, Otis has become one of my favorite places in all of Brooklyn. They've shined bright with their exceptional service, stellar food, and in the process has turned a less than appealing border of East Williamsburg and Bushwick into a perennial destination for what has become one of the best establishments in the borough. According to management, this was once the site of a tailor shop which has now been converted to a modern open space complete with a sexy bar, open kitchen, and a good amount of outdoor seating. It feels clean and Brooklyn chic, which makes this kind of ambiance ideal for all occasions. It's date friendly, group friendly, and even available as a venue for private events. In short, the food is excellent. There isn't a lot of variety on the menu, but the few items they do have are dynamite all the way around. While they work well as individual plates, I personally think that family style is the way to go. I would recommend starting with the roasted golden beets ($18), lamb meatballs ($23), and high consideration should be given for their seasonal soups ($8). The braised pork shoulder gigli pasta ($28) nearly stole the show with how addicting every bite was. The house-made ricotta is a gamechanger, but the tenderness of the pork shoulder made the dish stand out. Their burrata ($20) was beautifully presented, featuring a simple sweet potato, pesto and tomato jam over a grilled focaccia and was a creamy, decadent experience throughout. I didn't expect to like the P.E.I. mussels ($28) as much as I did, but the chorizo-piquillo pepper broth had a nice kick to it and the grilled bread was the perfect complement. The vegetable strata doesn't seem to be part of the current menu, but it was another surprisingly tasty dish that I would recommend for our non-meat eating friends. For some folks, service is everything and the team here did a great job in making sure everyone was satiated and well taken care of. I tip my hat off to the bartenders for a slew of mean drinks, but especially the revenge of the line ($17), which was a tasty concoction of charred pineapple, habañero, yellow chartreuse, and some fine mezcal. While they might be too new to be considered among the top establishments in Brooklyn, in my eyes, they're already there. Came here for a date night to celebrate my SO's new job. We were promptly seated at the chef's counter and loved getting to watch them create such beautiful dishes. The good: 1. Delicious food - we were really impressed by the apps & sides this visit - the curry soup (rotating), breads & spreads (ricotta & fig mustard jam - rotating) and roasted rainbow carrots over smoked hummus. 2. Yummy cocktails - can't recommend the Love Her Madly enough; it's not too sweet. 3. Excellent service - very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff from the hostess up front to the waitstaff. We go thru water so quickly and appreciated that our bottle was promptly refilled. Orders came out at a good pace and we never felt rushed. The not as good: 1. Price for portion, but c'est la vie nowadays, I guess. Our mains - the Hokkaido Scallops and Branzino - while delicious and bursting with flavor, had very little seafood. For nearly $40 each, we expected more than 3 scallops & 1 uni for the Hokkaido dish (it was mostly risotto) and a whole fish for the other. 2. Dessert - would love to see at least 1 more option, perhaps a fruit-based one for a light freshness. We had the sticky toffee pudding, and while good, it wasn't what we expected. The toffee sauce was not the typical sugar & butter base but a salted dark chocolate ganache (perhaps there was an accidental swap? Quite possibly one the best restaurants in Bushwick and some of the best cuisine I've had in quite a while. First and foremost, no matter what you order here, you have to get the grilled focaccia. Any dish that comes with it, just order. That being said, our server was so helpful the entire time, and recommended the burrata. Our server said it's like the "official" dish of the restaurant and we agreed. The burrata was so creamy and great for dipping some bread in. We also split the breads and spreads, because more of that bread please. We also ordered the Braised Pork Pasta and the Tandoori-Spiced Salmon. Absolute perfection from start to finish. Came here for a pre Theater XIV dinner and was impressed from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. Our server was polite and sweet. The food came out on time and they cleared well after each course. The white wine by the glass from Spain was fantastic. I got two glasses. The food was all delicious. We had: - Roasted Golden Beets with charred jalapeño aioli, ruby frost apples, crispy quinoa, candied pecans - this was outstanding! Highly recommend! - A prawn dish that was good, but we were confused by it. The prawns came in their full shell with the seasoning on the outside, so when you removed the shell, you removed all the seasoning with it. I also don't like to work for my shrimp dishes when I go out to eat by peeling too much; I prefer that the kitchen prepare my food for me, since I'm paying. It was still good, but I noticed it's not on the menu, so maybe they removed it already. - P.E.I. Mussels with chorizo-piquillo pepper broth, grilled bread - these were delicious! - Rainbow Trout with lemongrass-coconut broth, braised cabbage - an absolute do-not-miss. They managed to debone the entire fish while still serving it whole on the plate. It's a lot of food, so best shared, or you will have leftovers to take home. The lemongrass-coconut broth and braised cabbage was DIVINE. Couldn't get enough. We ended the meal with an affogato - it wasn't on the menu, but they brought us a double espresso with a couple scoops of salted caramel ice cream and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Had a reservation for two for a Sunday night. Overall, I think this is a cozy neighborhood spot that I would come back to since I live somewhat nearby. However, not sure I'd necessarily go too out of my way to come. Ambiance / Service: cozy casual neighborhood vibes, but lively. Brick walls, exposed wood ceilings, dim lighting. There's an exposed kitchen area with counter top seating for singles and parties of two, a few four toppers, and there was actually a party of 10, so I think they can accommodate larger groups. Service was great - the hostess was especially friendly. Food: I split everything with another person. The portions are actually quite large and some of them could easily feed 3-4 people (if doing family style). I ordered: -Soup of the Day (not pictured): it was butternut squash and it was delicious. They split it in 2 bowls for us. -Burrata: this was good, but honestly nothing really stood out for me flavor-wise. I think I was hoping for more. -P.E.I Mussels: GET THIS. This was by far the best thing ordered. This is a dish I will crave and come back solely for. Way more flavorful than I was anticipating, almost has a creamy roasted bell pepper sauce. Been a few years so I figure it's time for an updated review. First off, food is just as good as I remember, if not better. Menu is pretty small but they absolutely ace everything on it. Service is good and the drinks are STRONG. The burrata appetizer remains my favorite burrata dish in the city and the broth for the mussels is incredibly flavorful (took the leftover broth to go to make pasta later). The accompanying bread for both is A++ (love that char!!). In terms of other must-orders, the little gem salad was AMAZING, I'll have to try their other veggie dishes sometime. Braised pork pasta was yummy; the dish that stood out the least to me was probably the scallops (executed well, uni had that subtle sweetness that comes with high quality uni, but the scallops were on the smaller side and it didn't stand out to me as much as the others). I love this place; it's my favorite spot for a date night with my wife. Every dish we've had here is delicious--they do vegetables, dips, and mains all equally well. Their cocktails are also delicious, and we've tried most of them at this point. The ambiance is romantic and moody, and the interior is beautiful. The service is attentive without being intrusive. We started off with drinks while waiting for our entire party to arrive, and I would highly recommend the Dominic Decoco and Comfortably Numb. For appetizers, we ordered the burrata which wow-ed us with its presentation and its flavor. The tomato jam was a nice little twist. Next off, we shared a plate of the Roasted Beets and they went fast. As you can see from the photos the dish was plated beautifully and the flavors of apples and beets was a cool combination. I especially like the crispy quinoa bits sprinkled throughout. The PEI mussels were out of this world and I'd say these hit the spot. They did a fantastic job with the sauce and my only recommendation is that they give 2 more pieces of focaccia! Just so there's enough to soak up all that delicious juice! The heavy hitter in this lineup was the braised pork pasta; a very heavy dish that really filled us all up. I enjoyed this dish, but if I had to choose another dish again when dining here, this one would be it. Not that it wasn't good, but it wasn't as impactful as the others. It was done well, but it just wasn't anything special to me. Last but not least we finished with the dark chocolate brownie which was decadent and not an easy dessert to finish off since we were all so full. Our stomachs were saying no, but the warm brownie drenched in cool vanilla ice cream and loaded with crumbles was too much to refuse. We all made short work of it. Love the presentation and creativity behind some of the dishes. Would love to come back and try some new things, and hopefully see the menu expand or see items get rotated. read more

What a stunner of a place. The flavors are booming in all the right ways. We sat at the chef's counter and had a full view of the whole culinary masterwork of the chef team. I was floored with how delicious each dish was. My tastebuds at a victory lap. Whole fish was so damn good in the coconut curry and wowza, those mussels were standouts. The only critique would be the shell left on the shrimp. It was odd because you had to take it off and then a lot of the sauce and flavor from the grilling wasn't on or potent. So definitely would like to see that dish reinvented. Cocktails were amazing and our server was welcoming and attentive start to finish. Would love to repeat visit soon. read more

Literally everything here tasted so delicious. It's no frills in terms of ambiance but the food did not disappoint. I love when I go out to eat and I eat something that I know I could never recreate at home. There are complex flavors in each dish and they are all layered and go well together.
