Unfortunately I find the shop can sometimes be a little dirty and the service not amazing. This experience has been fairly typical of visits into W H Smiths around the country though, so is not anything unique about the Berkhamsted branch. There's not a lot you can buy in W H Smith that you can't get elsewhere, with more choice, but the magazine section is large, which is probably the highlight of the store.

The shop is split into two with a coriador between them at the rear of the shop. The music shop sells everything from sheet music, blu-ray films and CDs ranging from rock to jazz. It's the kind of place where you can buy a strap for your guitar or a metronome. The staff are very helpful and I had a good chat about the album they were playing while I was in there. The bookshop is just as eclectic. They have both new and secondhand stuff, ranging from classics in book club editions through to a good science fiction section at the back. I enjoyed browsing very much and I am going to have to get back there.

Has a variety of items for sale which change, from Books, toys, art materials, stationery, calenders. A good place at Christmas to find cheap stocking fillers and cards. I can't walk up the High Street without popping in, don't always buy something but i find the whole shop fascinating. A good place if you have a child with you and want to buy them something or they want to spend a bit of pocket money, can get something reasonable for not a lot of money.

The parking can be a bit of a nightmare as there are only about 4 spaces outside (shared with the chippy next door) and the market place often gets clogged up with visitors and/or the market itself. Overall it's good value for money though as it is competitively priced and sells everything from a ball of string to the latest copy of your fave glossy magazine. I have had many a bargain from here and have found the prices to be really excellent. I like the fact they have a fast turnover of books, I tend to buy from them, read them and then return them so they can resell. So it is good that I am not going back just to look at the same ones over again. It is also good for little ones clothes and they seem to weed out the seedier stuff that some other charity shops leave in eg. stuff with stains on.

Regrettably I cannot say the same for visiting during the week you need to be there a good half an hour before official closing time as for some reason the community shop closes early for no reason. The staff during the week are not so pleasant. In fact the man is quite rude!! Dont let that put you off great charity shop. Great at the weekends two out of three is not bad.
