The clothes range also covers expectant mums, glad no doubt, to be able to choose something other than the usual dungarees and huge t-shirts. Recent additions to the shop include very pretty Mother and child accessories and crockery, including a Beatrix Potter range. While not cheap (some of the clothes are crazy dear, craaazy dear) you can rely on being the best dressed Mum or child around, if that is your priority. Otherwise, it's hard to beat Asda's George these days.

Tucked away down on the quite splendidly west endy Skirving Street on the South Side, this place is a quite funky wee shop with cutsey clothing, accessories and other bits and bobs for gals and babies.....there is a gentle nod to some guys stuff but really, with a name like Butterfly Kisses they aint exactly lookng to corner the man market. Anyway, this is a cute wee place with some really funky gear. Ok its a tad pricey but to be honest the gear looks to be of a high quality and its in nowhere near the same ridiculous price bracket as the west end. With a freindly and helpful owener i do hope this place is around to celebrate its second birthday come next year.....me likes.

They do a great range of riding wear, and everything for the child who attends Scouts or Guides. The assistants are wonderfully helpful, and if the clothes are exactly the sort of thing that every child hates- school uniforms, PE kit and the like, they will be taken there by parents who coo over how grown up they look.

I have to admit, my visits here weren't the most exciting but I guess getting a new school uniform isn't exactly the highlight of anyones childhood. It's very traditional and everything here is extremely organised and regimented. The skilled and friendly staff measure all the customers with an old fashioned measuring tape to ensure everyone gets the perfect size. Inside it's not the most glamorous and the colour scheme is a rather dull brown colour which isn't the most inviting, but that doesn't detract from the quality service here as Campbells are excellent at what they do and that is why they have been in business for as long as they have.

This is one of the main reasons that I really admire this place; seen as Scotland's population is indeed prone to these sorts of medical problems. In fact, a close friend recently had a family loss due to a sudden and massive heart attack in her sleep and at only 43 years old. Anyway, back to this particular charity shop. It's a decent size and has a good selection of stock. This includes knickknacks, books, magazines, records, tapes and cds as well as clothes, shoes and tons of kiddies toys. I realise, there is still some stigma attached to charity shops and I imagine, this is especially the case when it comes to children's books and toys. Which is a real shame because they do have some really nice and reasonably priced stock in here. Luckily, I don't know anyone with young kids, so this is something I can't take advantage of - but if you do, it's definitely worth a look. Other items to look out for in here have got to be sensible, good quality work clothes and - the odd time - shoes. Not all sparkles and excitement, I know. But I do have a real bug bare about spending loads of well earned cash on work clothes that immediately get shoved into the washing machine after a shift. Of course, it's not all about going buying mad; the other side of the coin if, of course, donating any unwanted items you have hidden under the bed. So pop along.

So by default, I like Oxfam. I'm not one for buying vintage clothes, but if i find myself browsing in here I always feel I should at least buy something, leading to a shelf full of ornamental mice and ducks that cost about 50p each, and might prevent me going to hell come judgement day.

Because of their extensive…read morenetwork, they are very effective in terms of pricing: it is rare to find an old record or first edition at a bargain price, but it does have a very well appointed selection, with plenty of books arranged by specialism. After a few years where the shop struggled to open all day, they now have a team who seem to really know their stuff: not the cheapest, but usually fair, with lots of vinyl and even comic books, now and again. The specialisation of charity shops in recent years has made them less of a joy to browse, but this stands as something of a Southside oasis, almost compensating for the lack of a proper book shop.

Basically it does what it says on the tin! The goods are laid in out by colour, which I like, the emphasis being on colourful tops studded with the ubiquitous sequin and sexy dresses. You know what I'm trying to say. Hopefully. For such unusual clothes, prices are very reasonable starting at around £20 with regular sales.
