They state hours are 9am-4pm for walk up reservations. I arrived at 2pm on. Friday and nd the door was locked. However two younger teens and an older female teen went in and out several times, the first time I was literally outside the door and they walked right by me. No adults in sight. We originally pull up and my husband goes to pay and do waivers. Because our little ones were so small, they got to rid with us and we weren't forced to get a tandem which was nice. After paperwork, we were given life vests for the kids and brought to the edge of the river. We're then given tips on how to navigate, how long it'll take, good place to turn around if needed, and then we were helped into the water once on the kayak. I will admit I haven't kayaked ever, and only canoed when I was a preteen. It was safe to say your girl was rusty and completely inexperienced. Add a small child to your lap, and a mom was slightly terrified. We paddled along, albeit very slowly, and eventually we were close to the golf course. We also decided after we saw some people swimming on a bunch of little "sand bars" that it would make a great a pit stop too. My kids were happy to have some solid ground and the water felt really nice actually. We only went calf deep in the water, mostly the parts that were clear, but the people we saw were shoulder deep. I'm definitely not brave enough. In any case! We saw a bunch of turtles, tons of dragonflies, water bugs, a few birds (herons?), but no snakes or alligators/crocodiles thank goodness. This place is rockin'! We rented a canoe for $35 and got to take it out as long as we wanted. I really like this option, especially since I'm used to renting by the hour. It makes me feel less rushed and more open to just floating and enjoying the scenery. Which makes sense, having met the owners...super friendly and relaxed too! There's plenty of space to enjoy yourself, kick back and see the Spanish Moss (which I think is beautiful), turtles, dragonflies, etc. I really appreciated how courteous the people with bigger boats and jet skis slowed down around us too. I'm sad to say it took us over three years to get here but we'll be back much sooner than that! Thank you!! read more

Wow, great place to canoe or kayak!! The 6-mile path took us almost 3 hours to complete and it was a great day! I absolutely loved the scenery along the path. It was $35 to rent a canoe. I'm used to places charging by the hour so it was really nice to not have to worry about being back at a certain time. We saw tons of turtles and birds. Next time I want to go out on the river I will definitely come back to Outdoor Augusta! read more

We decided last week to do the Serene 18 paddle tour and doing research it wàs a bit confusing where to start and the best route. We met with Andy at Outdoor Augusta after a few text messages. Upon arrival I found out that I was at the wrong place as I had booked and deposited with another company. However after talking with Andy I knew he was the one to go with. He is very knowledgeable of the routes and the best way to get there. From our first launch of the 5 over two days Andy was always available for help or to answer any questions we had (and there were many). He never once seemed bothered and went out of his way to make our adventure a great one. If you are considered doing the Serene 18 definitely go with Andy and Outdoor Augusta you won't be sorry. Make sure and do Stallings Island and feed the donkeys and goats. We will definitely go back and book with Andy he is awesome. read more
