The owner, Jason, came to pick up a riding lawnmower and a push mower with a trailer. My riding lawnmower would not engage forward, so it required it be pushed onto the trailer. I asked if he needed help and he said no. With a running start he ran my lawn tractor up the ramp and the mowing deck caught on the back part of the frame of the ramp. In doing so, the bottom of my shute was twisted outward. When I spoke to him about it he claimed it was already broke and that was why it caught on the trailer. I informed him that admittedly it is an old lawn tractor but the only thing wrong with it before he showed up was the fact that it would engage in drive. He stated it wouldn't show up on my bill but he wasn't welding it back on, he would only bend it back into place.
So far, his care for his customers equipment leaves a lot to be desired as does his customer service skills. We'll see how the timeliness of the repairs go and what that bill looks like! I was assured the turnaround for both mowers would be a week. Stay tuned...
Update 7/29: So far, so bad...
They called to drop of both mowers and gave my wife a price that I knew was lower than price he quoted me for. When delivery arrives, the 3 pulleys and deck wheel were never replace as agreed to. (Explains the cheaper price). The delivery guy called the owner and had me talk to Jason. Jason agreed to order the pulleys and deck wheel and the labor and delivery was free of charge and I would only pay for parts. (I felt that was a reasonable exchange). In addition, all they had to do on the push mower was replace the cable and handle on the self propel feature because the rest of mower ran just fine. (I actually used it minutes before they took it last week) When we unloaded the push mower and started it up it sounded fine, when I engaged the self propel, it made a loud "chunking/grinding" noise which made the entire engine shake. All if this occurred in front of the delivery guy, so there was a witness. I called Jason to tell him what occurred and he immediately got defensive and said "all we did was replace the cable and handle!" I said, did you test it to see if it worked, because your invoice stated you did?!" He then blamed it on the manufacturing stating they are notorious for transmission problems. I reiterated that I used it moments before he came and picked it up last week and it ran just fine, now, after you had it for a week, when I start it up it sounds fine UNTIL I squeeze the handle that you replaced. He said he would look at it and let me know. Meanwhile, I did a quick test of the riding mower and it seemed to work fine, I will know more tomorrow when I mow the whole lawn.
Still more to come, stay tuned....
Rider worked fine the next day, but I called a week later to find out the status of my push mower because they never called me. As expected, Jason told me it would cost $130+ dollars to fix the transmission for the self propelled mechanism. So his shop charged me $92.00 to "repair" the broken handle and cable when all the while it would never work due to a broken transmission on the self propel mechanism. Yup, that's the kind of shop they run.
He also took my rider back to repair the pulleys and deck wheel they never repaired the first time. It's being dropped off today and hopefully it will work fine.
Regardless of how well the rider works, I will never do business with them again. That's what I get for trying someone new. I always had great door to door service with a different shop out on route 11.
UPDATE: 4/23/17: after winter storage, I went to pump up my tires only to realize These guys put the wheels on backwards! The air stem for both front tires were on the INSIDE of the rims! WTH!? Who does that? read more
