Wow! I am impressed!! The food was awesome! The service was awesome! I guess the myth about truck stop food - STOPS at the OutPost Cafe!!

Really like this place. We go almost every Sunday after church for breakfast. The food is very good, servings huge, prices reasonable. It's comfortable inside like you've come home to a place you remember from childhood. Very clean. Restrooms are very clean . The servers remember the customers, are friendly, remember regular dishes ordered frequently. Kid friendly. And, I have to say, for someone who doesn't usually like pancakes because thry're aofgy, The Outpost hotcakes are Wonderful! And huge! One pancake & cup of coffee is more than enough for me. Great service and terrific food. The Cajon Pass Outpost Repeater Burger is to die for -- the meat is so well-cooked and juicy. The fries rival those from the best diners. Service is friendly it's comfortable and a bit western and wood themed. Giant trucker portions at great prices. Fed a family of 4 for $95 with a good tip included. We ordered fried zucchini and buffalo wings, steak a full rack of ribs and a half pound bacon burger. We didn't order drinks and we were beyond stuffed to even attempt dessert. There were plenty of leftovers as each of the main entrees came with generous portions of Sides to take home. The rack of ribs was the length of a very long plate. As we wind down our trucking life and head to CO to retire, Outpost remains in the Top5 of all restaurants we'd been able to access with a truck/trailer in the entire U.S. The service is stellar, facilities comfortable and friendly, and not one menu item disappointed us, ever. The soup of the day is a must, be it just a cup or the whole bowl -- homemade goodness! We will enjoy whatever we can in the next few months, and take with us good memories of the many, many fine meals we enjoyed over the years. Today is Friday and we arrive in an hr or so -- awesome clam chowder and their steak n bleu salad for me. The portions are generous, so I'll need a go-box to enjoy what's left later this evening. The good was really home cooked meals I had honey battered fried chicken and home made mashed potatoes with brown gravy real home made Cole slaw too the place was nice and cool with ac on.i also had there apple pie for dessert with vanilla ice cream delish. I've known about this place for years, but never ate there until last weekend. I grew up in the desert, but live a couple of hours away now. My sister got married last Saturday and of course I had to attend. One big problem, Saturday was the Oklahoma Texas game. Being the OU fan that I am, I simply couldn't miss the game. The wedding wasn't until 3pm, but I wouldn't have time to watch the game at home and drive to Hesperia (game started at 9am) for the wedding. So...I called a few days before the wedding and the owner agreed to let me watch the game on one of their awesome tvs. Now, this is a truck stop, so my expectations were low. As long as the food didn't taste terrible and/or give me the runs, I would have been satisfied. However, it was freakin good! I ordered biscuits and gravy and they brought me out a giant bowl of gravy...it was HUGE! I couldn't believe how good it tasted! Hash browns were cooked perfectly (just needed some salt) and the sausage patties had flavor....I grew up on down home cooking (have the waistline to prove it) and was really impressed with my breakfast. First off let me start by saying I have been coming to the outpost café for over four years now in the very beginning my first experiences were amazing I always order the truckers special with that being said I am an over the road professional driver I don't know what is happening to the food quality every time it is getting worse or and worse it's a shame because every time I have high expectations of the food being Great from my first experience with today's meal it was mediocre at best steak was bland no seasoning I asked for home fries was given potatoes with diced onion and peppers it was just a bad experience food wise please correct your cooks because if not you will lose your clientele I really don't want to come back to take another chance it's a shame because I had Great food three years ago. read more

A classic cafe where everyone is called "hun" and they mean it. Service was excellent and the coffee stayed full. Food was good and filling. The decor is very unique and comfortable. My wife had a Monte Cristo Sandwich and liked it but it was the "healthy(er)" type that is not battered and fried. I think she was in the mood to splurge so this dissapointed her. I had eggs benedict and the portion size was large. I like the hollandaise sauce a little tangy and this was a bit bland. The hashbrown were, hands down, the best I have ever had. Everyone loves the food here and so far nothing I have ordered has been bad. It is a great place to stop on your way in or out of town before you end up in the middle of the desert. Read reviews and decided to give this place a try since we would get 20% off with our hotel receipt. Pork chops were a little on the dry side. The rest of the food we ordered was good. Service not so good. My daughter called our server as she was walking away and the server had the nerve to roll her eyes. Sodas came with the kids meal yet they tried to charge us for regular sodas. Was driving up the 15 and we were all getting hungry so I opened my trusty Yelp app and looked for a good place to stop. Thought this places reviews looked good so I suggested it to the family. The wife was a little hesitant but gave in. So this is actually a truck stop café but WOW definitely worth the stop. I had the rib eye with mashed potatoes and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Now the salad was big with lots of large chunks of blue cheese in the dressing I think this was the best blue cheese dressing I have ever had. I would come back just for this salad. Stopped here on the way home to Vegas because of all the great reviews and boy they did not disappoint!! The food was phenomenal!! We had the meatloaf, French dip, blt and the crispy chicken frickle sandwich! Every single item came out quickly, fresh and piping hot!! The bread on my french dip was so soft and it was THE BEST french dip I've ever had. Super cute place, great service and definitely a stop we'll be making anytime we travel this way! A yummy diner that we stopped by on our way to Vegas. It had all of your typical diner food. The servings were all pretty big as well! This is definitely more of a trucker pit stop than a tourist pit stop. I don't think we really blended in with the rest of the customers. Our waitress was nice and funny! read more
