Great local restaurant we found along our travels through Montana. We were starving and there was nothing but miles of farmland as we rode our motorcycles through the Blackfoot Indian Reservation. The restaurant was bright, clean and decorated nicely. We were warmly greeted and coffee was quickly dispensed! The menu offered a nice variety of foods for breakfast and lunch. I had a "Dusty omelet", 3 eggs, ham, bacon, peppers and cheese which was delicious. I highly recommend stopping in if you are touring Montana along the beautiful Route 89. I don't normally write reviews but, given the good experience I had and the fact that there are no recent reviews of the Outpost Deli, I decided to do so. My wife and I found the service excellent and as fast as we could have hoped for, and very much enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Salad, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Onion Rings, and Sweet Potato Fries. Finally, to top it off we had scoops of Coconut and Huckleberry Ice Cream, which were delicious. Therefore we highly recommend this restaurant to tourists, such as we are. read more

Had lunch with the family here and it was delicious! I did order the 1/2 of a French Dip, hubby had the Outpost, and ma had the Fish N' Chips. All was really good! The French Dip I had came with thin slices of beef, a flaky bun and tasty au jus paired with onion rings that were perfect! I picked on hubby's curly fries and those were good too! Our hostess was friendly and checked in with us regularly. The place was busy and the facility is clean and spacious. On a shelf against the wall, you'll find some homemade marinated peppers and grape jelly. We were so glad to stop in for lunch, it was worth it!! We would definitely visit again. read more

Stopped here on our way back from Glacier and Watertown for breakfast. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. They were pretty busy so it did take awhile to get the food but after sitting in a vehicle for 2 hours it was nice to be able to stretch our legs for a bit. Would definitely stop again! read more

My favorite place to eat. Awesome breakfast. They don't do dinner after the summer is over, I have been working here July-october and eat here often, friendly staff, be patient. Place is really busy and service is different than a high class place, so if you're not from here be patient. Raise your hand, speak up. I *really* hate giving a bad review, especially in a tiny town where trade is likely the entire livelihood of everyone associated with it. But. I've been to this location three times in three days. The first two times the orders were wrong and the service sluggish, so I forgave it and moved on. Today I arrived at 10am when there were only two tables eating breakfast. Again the meal had to be sent back because it was wrong. Frustrating but still trying to take it in stride. But when no one ever came back to check on me I spent over ten minutes waiting with an empty coffee cup, and another ten minutes trying to flag someone down. The elderly couple sitting at the table nearest the waitresses were sort of empathizing with me because they were waiting a similarly long time to get menus. Finally, I caught the eye of someone and she hollered back asking if I needed coffee. I called back yes and then added that the elderly couple needed menus too. They got their menus and an apology. I was forgotten and didn't get coffee, again. After another few minutes I finally gave up and called the restaurant from my cell, asking pleasantly if I could have some coffee and apologizing for calling but that I had been waiting well over ten minutes. She grabbed the pot and headed my way, but decided to stop and make conversation with a regular first. Asking about his injured finger and laughing jovially. If he had been drinking coffee I could have understood stopping and getting caught up, but that wasn't the case. I would also understand if I had been short or victim-y in my request for more coffee. I wasn't. I simply wanted to get coffee and try to save the mood and experience. I got my coffee but never heard from anyone again. Forty-five minutes later I left without taking my half plate of leftovers and never getting more water or a third cup of coffee. Seems filling to-go condiment containers and wiping counters is more important than service. read more

This review is NOT for the food. I wouldn't know if it's decent. They were so impolite That that we left and ate down the street at the log cabin cafe, which was clean and with great customer service. We arrived at 10:55. After road tripping and camping i immediately went to the bathroom to wash up while my wife and baby stood looking at the menu. By the time I got out of the bathroom we were told no breakfast after 11. And I wasn't told politely. If the customer doesn't matter, well- then the customer doesn't matter!! I stopped here with my parents for a lunch break from Alberta to Helena. Needless to say, it was a trip that was worth it! The food is very good (and healthy!) for how cheap it is, so you won't be paying too much. Adding on, the service is not very slow, and the gift shop is also nice. (though I didn't buy anything in the gift shop so I'm not sure if anything there would be of the best value.) And finally, the overall temperature of the place is just right! My only issue w/ the Outpost Deli is that there is only one restroom toilet, although I'm aware that some other small restaurants do that too. My score: 9.1/10 read more

Stopped in for a quick bite on our way to Glacier NP. Great little deli with a homey feel and great food. Had the backpacker sandwhich, just the half which was MORE than enough. I dont give one stars a lot. I take my stars seriously. If this was a group of toddlers they would get no stars and a slap with a ruler. Let's start out service. Wait, what sercice? Our girl was never there. We got our drinks and ordered food like the normal or deal. About an hour later we got our food. Normally a restraunt takes about an hour especially if this was a pay up front at the counter. But nope. My dad and step mom got coffee and it never got filled. It got to the point where they had to get up and refill there own coffee. A customer at a table went around as a waiter. He was pouring coffee and taking orders better then our waitress herself. Also, once we got our food. It was bad. I thought you couldnt mess up American breakfast it isnt to hard. The hashbrowns were good but the eggs were not to good though my dad likes them. My dad also never got his pancakes or toast so we had to share. He was not missing much seeing as the pancake was thick and tasteless even with syrup and butter. Everyone around us who came in after us got there food before us along with some woman who had to take matters into her own hands in put everyone empty plates in the back. This was a chaotic experience that only costed 14$. I would stick with the log cabin cafe or stopping at a grocery store before heading out to the wild and fun outback of Montana. Use that 14$ for other important things rather then this peice of junk. read more

I love to come here and eat. The owner is the sweetest person and one of the best cooks around...the service is fast and efficient.
