I love coming here and I love Memphis for helping revive it back in the day, kind of recently! Overton Square has had its share of ups and downs over the years and has seen a lot of places come and go. Not many, if any original remain. Billy Joel, The Beatles, and Wang Chung played at Lafayettes long ago, now they are about to close again it seems. Hell, there was a TGIF Fridays here back in the 1800's when Memphis was a saloon town. No one could get past the river for years, so they were just kind of stuck. That is how the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid was built. They were going to try and jump the river by chariot from there to go further west. Great success. Look at California now! All lit up! Weee I am so glad to still have the diversity of shops to still choose from in this block. You can get just about anything on foot around here. In the daylight, at least. Fish. Creole. Cajun. Beer. Candy. Sandwiches. Bacon on a clothes pin. Table side guac. Tacos. Booze. Pizza. Oysters. Bars. Hiking gear. Second Line and Swamp Bar. Ballet. Art. Local theater. Alternate medicines. Incense. Sky bars. Hotels. Hair dos. I bet you can even get cocaine for the low if you ask the right folks. I love Memphis so much. Eat. Drink. Shop. Be Merry. Tip your wait staff. Yep, I'm a fan! O-Square has it all! Shopping, great food and beverage options, and entertainment for the WIN! I love how polished and clean the area is also. There are plenty of wall murals to pose in front of-- and you know I love that! I just had the best time out here for Thursday Squared! It's $10 to get in and you get a free drink. Also water is only half a ticket so you can get two waters!! Not enough to sustain me (I drink gallons) but it's a start! They also have raffles so make sure to hit up all the tables first thing and sign up because they do a raffle every hour or so. I didn't realize how many things had raffles and only signed up for one- but luckily I won tickets to a buffet so yay! It was nice and open so it seemed like there weren't a lot of people there but there were plenty there. But the open space meant there was tons of room to move around. Also it was nice because we legit had a dance circle go on when the band took a break and the DJ played music. It was just tons of fun. read more

I love this little nook in midtown. There is always something going on on Overton Square and we love taking photos if the decor. Very family friendly with various restaurants and shops. A family fave for sure. read more

This area has really developed a lot since my last visit to Memphis. They have done a great job of making a great area with many options to enjoy a variety of food and drink that you can easily walk around between all the various spots. Tip: Hey Memphis stop being nerds and add legal Go Cups like we have in NOLA! People pay for the drink and then taxes on the drink so they OWN it so they should have to freedom to keep it in their hand and not just in their belly. How long has prohibition been over? Geez get rid of the dumb rules and follow NOLA rules. If you ain't gonna let somebody own their drink and confiscate it then they should get their money back ya heard! read more

I am so happy to see Overton Square renovated and full of life! There's a ton of options for eating and shopping, live music, a candy store for your movie treats, and even a shuttle to travel from the square to Cooper Young for more fun. The parking garage is free during the day and only a few dollars at night. Do yourself a favor and spend a Saturday checking out all the shops. There's always something going on! read more

First time to MEM and love it! Like MidTown way better than Beale and that goes for Lafayette's here at the O over BB Kings for music.

Given that I live five minutes away, Overton Square is an area that I wish I liked more. It's definitely progressed a LOT from when I moved here three years ago, but I find I still just don't have any desire to go there. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a drinker (and I think $10 cocktails in Memphis are obscene), or because I don't like loud, crowded places (hello, Bar Louie or Local on a Friday night), or because I don't feel like competing for a parking spot (nobody uses that shiny new garage, and let's face it, nobody's going to), but I can't remember the last time I thought, "I'll just run over to Overton Square for that!" Granted, there's plenty of businesses I haven't tried, which is why I'm giving this area the benefit of the doubt. It's not a destination for me, but it seems to be becoming one for others! read more

I love living in Overton Square. We used to stay in Cooper Young and I was really sad to move but we picked great time to come this way because it has really flourished!! There's a movie theatre that serves wine, deli, plenty restaurants with music and awesome brews! There's shopping for you and sweets for the small and big kids! And even a yoga spot that I sadly have yet to go to. There's at least 16 restaurants to chose from! And the retail is starting to pick up too! I love this area and hope to find a starter house here until I am content with moving to the country lol. There's a lot to do and I'm glad most places are kid friendly bc we have a good kid in public(no jinx) If you are thinking about visiting an area besides downtown this is definitely a good spot to start in Midtown! And you can now even ride a shuttle(Ride the Roo) to Cooper Young! Once that hotel gets built it will be an official tourist area and I'll be smiling ear to ear. Let's just hope rent doesn't go up! Restarunts are awesome. The atmosphere is awesome and family oriented. However, Lafayette Music Room is the only live music during the week and Boscos only during Sunday Brunch. I remember once upon a time when you could go from one establishment to another on any given night and hear live quality music from local artist to national artist. That use to be a Overton Square and Jefferson Square (no longer here) tradition. WE NEED THAT BACK!!!! read more

I love the Overton Square. There are so many different restaurants and bars to try. It's a really cute area where you can walk around and it feels like you're in a nice spot. You could even go to the movies, have dinner, and go get dessert since things are so close by. I honestly prefer this and the midtown area to downtown. read more

I love Overton Square especially with its rebirth. It looks amazing. There's so much to do. There is a parking garage. There are new places and old places. There are very few holes in the district. There is a movie theatre, tons of bars, tons of restaurants of all varieties (seafood, Japanese, burgers, Indian, pizza, etc, etc). There are multiple venues for live music. A person can get ANY type of food. The prices range from cheap to expensive. There is something for everyone. read more

Getting close to having it all, but definitely the best entertainment district in Memphis

Be advised- During this month Bluesday Tuesday music venue doesn't start at 630p as advertised. 8pm more like it. That Sucked! New venue looks promising but no band for too too long! Sheez! But Elmo and the shades finally started and they were great. But they did take a long break after playing for just 30minutes! Sheez! Bring your own chairs...cement is too warm & all there is to sit on. read more

This place is great! They have done an amazing job redeveloping the area. This is a must do on the list for visitors from the food, nightlife, candy shop/ice cream, live music to name a few! Places like this make Memphis a great place to call home. read more

We were looking for a little change from Beale Street so we looked up this area. It was about a 15 minute drive from Memphis' downtown area. This area of town was more trendy/yuppie. A small area of shops and restaurants. More broad food selections that just BBQ. On the night we were there (a Saturday), there was a band playing in the open space, which was nice. read more

Easy walking access to take in the atmosphere or do a little people-watching. A new parking garage was recently added to the area, but parking can be a challenge at times. read more
