And it was the perfect ending, such a cute town, with the little rivers running through the city. No loud pubs, or stuffy restaurants, just down home charm! It was rainy when we were here but that was ok, it added to the english charm. I believe there are two ladies that run this B&B, there are a lot of stuffed animals, but if you can get over that, its PERFECT! Great location, Great Breakfast! This is my most favorite place of the cotswolds! Oh it was a little hard to find, as it said it was rainy...but drive by where you think it is a couple of times, like they describe on the website, and you will find it!

It is far better than I ever expected. It is located in the village of Hazelton which is not far from all the beautiful villages in the Cotswold and whilst this village is very small and does not have a pub most of that is only a short distance away. The house itself is beautiful fully renovated and has a very well stocked kitchen and all pots and pans are of good quality. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms in total so plenty of space for people to share. The beds are really good and the linen is of excellent quality. They have also provided excellent large towels and nice organic soap in the bathrooms. The outdoor area is also quite big and spacious and there is ample parking for 3-5 cars. All in all a really nice place and I would happily return here anytime to explore the Cotswold area. The view from the house is spectacular and it is located in a really quite village.

The main rooms themselves were spot on and even better than the photos. They had the perfect rustic barn feeling. The bathrooms were huge but the design did not go at all with the aesthetic of the rest of the hotel/room. The tub and bathroom walls were covered with this ugly black tile and the sinks were this worn wood/bamboo. My favorite area was probably the dining room which over looks their beautiful gardens. There is seating outside for non rainy days. Breakfast is not to be missed. They have the basic spread of fresh fruit, cereals, juices, and pastries. The main thing keeping it from being five stars for me would be the amount of information they leave for you are the guest to figure out. When we arrived we were assisted with our luggage but there was no offer to provide tour or general explanation of the property or amenities ( spa, bar in the main house, bikes, maps of trails to bike or walk etc.) I was not familiar with a "turn down" service so I was confused as to why there were people lurking outside my door before dinner. We ended up borrowing their two of their bikes and taking a little ride around the area. It was very scenic and there were lots of sheep and horses to see. I also got a facial treatment at the spa which is tucked away behind the garden. The spa is really small but cute. I was really happy with the microdermabrasion. They also had an outdoor pool area which I didn't get a chance to try. This place is definitely pricey but if you are looking for a private, quiet, romantic get-away, this place is it.

Vegetable Linguine was bad: chopped asparagus on pasta, no cheese, no flavor. Worst meal we had in 10 days in England. Second day room was not cleaned when we returned.Tried to call front desk but no answer. Went up to the front desk. "They don't answer the phone when they are busy. Phone are programmed not to ring." Tried to order a pizza in the evening. Couldn't get anyone to talk to us because everyone was busy with a large convention. Ate peanuts in the room. This place is not close to any towns with services. Third day. Tried to charge our computers etc when we were out of the room. Came back and found our card had been removed and therefore computers not charged. "So sorry come to the desk and we will give you another card, too bad about your computer" All in all a bad experience.

You get a sense of history as soon as you enter, because just in front of the reception desk there is a glass panel in the floor, which reveals a piece of Roman mosaic below. We visited for a two-night break in February. Our stay was a little coloured by the fact that the hotel had gone into administration (but was still functioning). One downside was that we were not able to take advantage of the booked car parking, and had to use a public car park about five minutes walk away. This was not a particular problem, because we were able to use the drop off space by the hotel front door to drop our luggage, but it did mean we had a five minute walk to get to the car. On the plus side, the hotel is right in the middle of the market Square, so it is very convenient for visiting this attractive and historic market town. The room was very comfortable, with a generous king size double bed, although the mattress and pillow was a little hard for my liking. We had a huge shower room, with nice toiletries provided, as well as bathrobes, fluffy white towels, and bath slippers. The room also had TV and a kettle and coffee making machine so we could make our own beverages in the morning. The corridor outside had quite squeaky floors (typical of an old building), but this did mean that we got a little noise from the other guests. We also had a room at the back of the hotel, which meant we had a view of another part of the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet, with hot dishes to order. The Continental buffet was a little bit limited, but I suspect this was a facet of the hotel going into administration, as there were not a lot of guests staying when we were there. There was a sufficient choice of cereals, fruit, and pastries for our needs, but it wasn't as bigger choice as many hotels we have stayed in. The cooked English breakfasts (one vegetarian) were perfectly decent, and generous in quantity, and cooked to order. The restaurant was not open during our stay, but we were in the low season. This was not a problem, as there are plenty of options for eating within a short walk at the hotel. But it means we cannot review the evening menu. Staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout.

You can get a great deal for a Sunday stay on the hotel website, which is what I did because it worked with my travel. I didn't know the entire town closed up, but would return for a Sunday stay anyway if they offered the same deal. Rooms are clean, bath tubs/shower large, and the food very good. The staff are really helpful and make you feel welcome.
