The course itself is very new and with all new courses it takes years to mature. The first 9 are quite challenging with the curves of the fairway and the bunkers around the greens which is what i look for in a course. The second 9 is very new and appears not too well thought out with a number of holes just being straight hits to the green. The club house itself is very cozy with a range of drinks on offer and very reasonable prices

All the equipment was renewed less than a year ago and there's TV screens on a lot of the machines and a key system to log your workout. The swimming pool is basic but functional. There's a standard 25m pool and a smaller square baby pool. My 4yr old is currently takin swimming lessons and he loves it! Communal changing rooms make it much easier for families with young kids, and facilities are good. It's excellent value for money - £25 a month all in for gym/swim membership and you can use other leisure centres in the area for that too. Recommended - don't be put off by the exterior.

It's run by the council so it's not as…read moreluxuroius as a lot of the private ones, but its also a lot cheaper and they don't make you sign a contract (unless you want to, in which case you can make it cheaper, I think it starts at about £15 a month for off peak). I just do the pay-as-you-go thing though as I don't have time to go that often. They've got a good selection of gym machines and they're all really new and modern in good condition. They've got lots of tvs that you can see from most of the CV machines while you work out. Upstairs there are weights machines, and they've got things that cover most of the muscle groups there. There's also a swimming pool which is ok, it's a bit drab looking but it does the job if you just want to do a few lengths. It's a good local facility and never too busy.

Sun Lane Leisure has the following facilities: A six lane 25m pool with adjustable depth ( A 13m x 7m studio pool with adjustable depth (this has a floating bottom so the depth can be brought to zero, this in effect covers the pool and it looks invisible) A 100 station fitness suite A multi-use activity studio A health suite with steam room and sauna which are pool side There are dedicated changing rooms for both pool and gym, on separate floors and they are top class with lovely finishing touches. The pool offers family changing rooms or separate cubicles. 130 capacity spectator viewing area Café and spectator area refreshments vending machines. I was previously using the Lightwaves Leisure Centre which has now been replaced by the Sun Lane Centre and I am so impressed by the massive upgrade to first class which I feel we now have within our Community. Many of the Lightwaves Staff have transferred across and i am pleased to see some new faces have joined the now sizable Team. The Staff are highly trained and experienced, knowledgeable, approachable and very keen to assist, support and encourage you. The Staff here are very used to all manner of abilities and shapes and sizes and they really are experts and sensitively deal with those of us who are very unfit and GP referrals. Please do not expect to find a Gym full of young trendy skinny beauties, this Gym really has a mix of ages and everyone is friendly and welcoming to all users, it really feels like there is mutual respect for all here. Sun Lane Leisure is fully accessible for people with disabilities, with a lift to the second floor and gym so all floors are accessible. There is also accessible changing, level access and hoists into both pools. A key feature to be included in Sun Lane Leisure is a Changing Places facility which offers special access for the disabled and will mean carers can assist those with a range of needs to change in safety and comfort. Features include height adjustable adult-sized changing benches, a tracking hoist system, space for the user and up to two carers, centrally placed toilet and screens for extra privacy. This changing facility will be available for anyone visiting the city and not just users of the facility.

The changing rooms have been merged to make one large unisex changing area which is clean and good for families. Lockers cost 50p and come in a range of sizes. The pool is a standard 25m pool, but it seems a bit narrow. The baby pool is a good size, and warm too! There is a viewing area where the cafe used to be, and the entrance is much larger and lighter than it used to be. There are also squash courts and a new gym but I have only used the pool. Lane swimming in the morning at 11.30am is very quiet and costs £2.70. It is clean and reasonable on price, beating Ponds Forge by over £2!

A fantastic municipal sports centre, Ponds Forge is a centre with a reputation for excellent…read morestandards and is always modernising something to keep itself up to date. With one of the only public 50m swimming pools in the country, it is used by swimmers up to professional level and the diving pool is currently being used to train olympic hopefuls who travel from all over the UK to train there. In keeping with it's public ethos there is also a separate fun leisure pool with flumes and waves and plenty of classes and activities for adults and children. In addition to the pools, there's also a huge, well-equipped gym and studios for a variety of exercise classes. The centre is very clean and welcoming and the temperatures are really good throughout. The monthly membership also gives you access to 3 other Sheffield venues including the Don Valley running track and is exceptionally good value. You can also pay as you go. Events are regularly held at the centre including international swim meets and there's a conference centre available for hire with catering for corps.

It's close to the tram and bus station…read more The centre has just gone under a bit of a refurbishment with a new members gym being built, which was well over due. This means the gym has been moved from the main entrance creating a spacious lobby and some seating. The new gym has all the facilities you would expect, with new changing rooms which are a little warm. There are more machinery and more space in the gym allowing more people to work out at a time. There swimming pools are still the same and is a good place to do some lane swimming as long as there are no event on which writes off most weekends which is a shame. The classes are good and the instructors are really motivated and friendly. The centre has a car park which does charge but also has really small parking spaces, there is some street parking but is time limited to an hour not much use. When it becomes free parking in the evenings its really busy and could struggle to get parked. The price of membership is not too bad and does give access to more then one gym as they have a few other centres within the city. It is cheaper to join for a 12 months. Also there isn't a joining fee like some gyms have.
