I'm a bibliophile. A big one. When I move house, I have a large box full of DVDs, a large box full of CDs, a suitcase full of clothes, a computer and eight large boxes filled with my books. So when I tell you that the Oxfam Bookshop is the second best bookshop in the city, understand that it comes from a place of love and of knowledge.
This store on St. Mary's Street has a huge and varied collection of good quality, second-hand books under various different headings. They have an impressive classics section, as well as a huge modern fiction section and then moving into more esoteric headings such as musical theory books and physics, all clearly laid out, so if you're looking for something specific, or just a book to waste some time on, this is the shop for you.
If you have a bit of money to burn, this shop is the place to go. £20 can net you up about 12 great books. But be warned; once you enter this shop thinking you'll spend £20, you are going to spend at least 15 minutes uhmming and ahhhing between two books, as you're going to want both but will only be able to budget for one more. The place is a lovely, wonderful timesink and it's all for a good cause. Go now! read more
