I've held off leaving a review until he finished my second project because he's a hidden gem. Once people realize how talented he is, you'll have to join a waiting list to hire him. Mike possesses a true mastery of his craft. I know a lot of people that would do a good job as long as there are no surprises. Mike will do an excellent job no matter the circumstances because he's probably seen it before and knows how to fix it. He has the confidence and knowledge to walk into a room and get to work. He's not going to call his manager or google the next step. He is the manager; he is the go-to guy. Secondly, he has a good eye for design too. For my vestibule, I had an idea of what I want. I explained it in my layman's terms and hazy descriptions and he saw what I was envisioning. I didn't need to over-explain it or draw a picture. He just got it. Also, and more importantly, he's honest. He gave me an estimate and stuck to it. That never happens. Anyone else would have charged extra when they discovered the subfloor was rotted, or when they saw a 10 degree slope in the corner. Mike didn't. He stuck to what he said and even fixed a few wall tiles in the kitchen - no charge. Not to mention, his prices are a bargain. People with half his skill, wanted a whole lot more. Lastly, he's a friendly guy. I know it can feel awkward having a stranger in your home. Not with Mike. He's trustworthy, down to earth, and you'll be friends in no time.

Bob was helpful from the beginning, even offering to help me with the choices by meeting me at the local tile store. He was also very flexible with my hectic and varying schedule. Did I a mention Checkerboard Tile is also very competitively priced. I would recommend Checkerboard Tile fully. The only change I would make is to take as much time picking my plumber as I did finding Checkerboard Tile. My plumber on this job was constantly late and never prepared for the job at hand. This however is not a reflection on the great work done by Checkerboard Tile, however it did show me the stark contrasts that can exist between contractors. Do yourself a favor and hire pros who care about their work. This would certainly include Checkerboard Tile.

Within about five minutes we narrowed down our choices and took his advice to wait until everything was installed and then select the tile. He provided us with samples to place around the kitchen to view in different light settings and was completely no pressure. We heeded is advice, looked at the two tiles we were considering and purchased our tiles and they came in on the day promised.
