Number 1 combo! Pork shawarma baguette sandwich, fries and a drink
    Lana S.

We saw this menu while walking by and was intrigued. They had a special for around 9 euros: a sandwich, fries and a drink! The line was out the door and we decided to go with this place for lunch. My friend and I both got the pork shawarma baguette sandwich with fries and a coke. The sandwich was huge! We got the garlic sauce in the sandwich and it came with one on the side. You can sit outside under the umbrellas or AC inside dining upstairs. Sandwich was so so good! Lots of meat, topping and crispy fries. One of my favorite simples meals in Portugal! This meal def. Hit the spot :)

This place is definitely worth the hype but know the rules otherwise the employees will not have it!! This place is BUSY but you cannot have half your party reserve a table while the others order so don't try. They also have an upstairs with more seating but it's tucked away for sure!! Either way we waited a while but it was worth. The prices and quality here are delicious. I got the pork loin sandwich with fries to share and it was delish. You could customize your sandwich with toppings. Overall, super simple and delish and was a great lunch option!!

We were visiting Lisbon and wanted to grab something for lunch. We saw this place and decide to try it. We came here at noon time and there was a long lineup. However, the line moves very quickly. It is a nice family quick eat. We ordered a place and pita, the portion was good, and it filled us up for lunch. The price was pretty cheap. Even though this place was pretty busy, there were plenty of places to sit. The patio was filled, but 2nd floor was mostly empty. Even though we did not speak Portuguese, but the staff here speak English. I recommend this place if you want to have a quick bite near this area.

If you're in Belém, definitely stop by for an affordable and delicious lunch! The prices are very reasonable and their sandwiches are filling but still leaves space for Pastéis de Belém just down the block. I decided to stop by here after seeing a line out the door, mostly cause it's pretty tight inside. However, the line moves fairly quick. You place your order, pay, give the receipt to the lady at the counter who helps put together your sandwich along with the other staff members. I chose to get a pita with shawarma but they also have baguettes and salads. All of the ingredients, such as the veggies and sauces stuffed inside, are pretty much all the same. They give a good amount of meat that was seasoned well. Their fries are thick and plain. It definitely lacked salt but I asked for ketchup, since I love my sauces, and it helped. I would recommend stopping by here for a quick lunch. It's convenient enough to eat on the go but there are also some seats available there as well.

Really liked this place. This is a quick lunch place with pita, baguette and simple salad base, with a ton of options.... The line goes super fast, the food is very reasonably priced and was very good. I have the g chicken baguette and my wife had the salad with the shawarma.... She is gluten free and they were able to accommodate and even changed their gloves to ensure no cross contamination... definitely worth a stop for a quick bite!

This place is amazing, it's so affordable and actually good. It's the best "food" that I've had in Lisbon. Food meaning main course b/c best dessert would of course go to the Pasteis de Nata. The place seems very modest, they've won awards on Yelp and don't plaster it on the door at eye level, but towards the ground. They also have FREE WIFI here and it's actually got decent speeds (~10mbps). ~~Food: VERY affordable. I've tried the Shawarma Salad and it's so different than the salads that you would typically get in the US because there's just SO much flavor and the meat is delicious!! The hot sauce also is super spicy and tops the salad well. I've also had Shoarma baguette and the pita wrap and all of them are SOO good. The previous leg of my trip was Italy, so it was a nice break from pasta and pizza. ~~Best Part:They take card, but it has to be a physical card (not NFC). Food is just delicious, I actually ate here twice during my trip on two separate days because the food was just TOO good. ~~Service: You order inside and they prepare the food in front of you. They will clean up the plates once you're done eating and everyone working there is nice. ~~Location: It's located only like 3 shops away from the Pasteis de Belem, so you could get a meal here for less than 4€ or more (depending on what you want--most of their single items are 3.95€) and then head over to Pasteis de Belem for dessert. ~~Seating: There's outdoor seating as well as seating upstairs.

    #11 Chicken Stroganoff Sandwich

Cheap sandwich place in the Belém area of Lisbon for lunch. The place is down the street from the Jerónimos Monastery and has upstairs seating with a good amount of tables. English menu available and the workers are able to converse in English as well. The menu has various of different types of sandwiches to choose from and I opted for the #11 Chicken Stroganoff Sauce Sandwich, which was decent. The best part of the sandwich was the fresh and crispy baguette. The sandwich is large and filled to the brim with ingredients. I shared it with a friend and the half sandwich was enough to fill me up. Overall, a decent spot for a cheap lunch. Stop by here for a quick meal before heading over to the other attractions in the area.

This was an excellent place for a quick and tasty lunch. Nice variety of choices, and the baguette sandwiches were so crisp and tasty. We were a little sad we didn't get the falafel wrap because the options looked so good. The line was a little long, but moved quickly. There is a nice park across the street to picnic in, but there is also an upstairs dining room with air conditioning.

Grilled turkey salad - only 3.75 euro

After having nothing but pastel de nata in our stomach all morning and afternoon, my husband and I were looking for a quick but proper meal in the area before hopping back onto our sightseeing tour bus. We checked out a few restaurants nearby and they all seemed like tourist traps with extensive menus in more than 5 languages. We walked by pao pao and saw a line with locals through the door - we decided to join the commotion and checked out what was worth lining up for. People kept walking out with ginormous platter of food. And I couldn't helped but eyed/asked a particular table on what they were having. It was a salad - yep one of the 3.75 euros salads. Not only were there more than 20 types salads for me to choose from, there offered unlimited toppings! I honestly could have just picked any of the salad and be perfectly happy - ultimately I went with their grilled turkey salad while my fiancé went with their shawarma pita and fries. Once we ordered and were given the receipt by the cashier, we went to the counter to have our order made. Even with the line through the door, our foods were ready in no time. Our server who prepared and packed our food was super sweet. She spoke great English and took her time in explaining my salad and made sure we were happy with what was given before us leaving (how often do you see this back in the states?). We hurriedly took our food to their second floor seating. Space was tight but all the locals were friendly and willing to share. Onto the food! My salad has literally everything one can put on a salad along with 5 huge grilled turkey breasts. My husband warned me to not finish it if I was still intending to have dinner that night. The salad was so fresh and the turkey was so well seasoned. My husband's pita was stuffed with copious amount of meat. Instead of serving it drenched in white and hot sauce back in the states, it had just the veggies and the meat (yay no soggy pita!). Fries, served with tartar sauce (everyone automatically gets a cup, don't see ketchup anywhere in the restaurant), were crispy and simply seasoned. For under 10 euros, we were beyond stuffed! If only pao pao exists back in the city, I wouldn't mind just eating their salads every day. No wonder all the restaurant businesses around (especially the fast food burger joint) were struggling, there's just no competition.

    Chicken stroganoff salad - yum!

This is THE iconic place to go, definitely in all of Portugal, and maybe even beyond that…read more Just looking at the nearly 100,000 Google Maps reviews, more than I've seen at any restaurant, explains it. This place has been open since monks were selling pasteis de nata in the early 1800s to make ends meet, and the secret recipe is apparently locked up and only known to a few people. Enough legends surround this place to make it packed with people every hour that it's open. It's so shrouded, in fact, that the egg tarts here are called Pasteis de Belem - not even the Pasteis de Nata used across the rest of Portugal. What really surprised me at first was how large the dining room was inside. When waiting in line, it doesn't feel particularly large, but once you get in you're greeted with a cavernous set of rooms with hundreds of mini tables throughout. Since we were here for lunch, along with the obvious Pasteis de Belem orders, I also got an Iberian Ham sandwich, pasteis de bacalhau, and a spinach quiche. The main part of this is going to be focused on the pasteis de belem, since that's what everyone is here for. I'm happy to say the 200 year old recipe still hits. These are amazing. The first thing you notice is the perfect dark brown spots on the top, indicating a top-tier bake. But when you take your first bite is when you're met with that feeling that - yes, this was in fact worth it. The outside of the pastry is perfect - bursting with flaky layers and a crispiness that has to be heard to be believed. The edges rise slightly over the top just to provide that extra crunch that's irresistible. The inside is just as spectacular. It's creamy, eggy, soft, but avoids being too sweet. One way I can think of describing it is like a soft cheesecake without the sourness. It would be tough not to go to rehab for getting addicted to how good this is. The top stays just a bit harder than the inside which is practically butter in terms of its texture. I could talk about this for another few paragraphs, but the best way to show how I felt is that we ordered another box of six to take home afterwards. The rest of the food was interesting. The Iberian ham sandwich was actually very good, with well-toasted bread, good quality pork, and a ton of perfectly melted cheese. The pasteis de bacalhau and quiche were pretty disappointing, though. For being as famous as is it, this place is remarkably cheap. Each pasteis de belem is only 1.6 euros, and a packet of 6 is less than 10. The rest of the food is crazy cheap as well; with the sandwich, which comes in a massive portion, being under 5 euros. Overall, it doesn't matter how long the wait is, you need to get the pasteis de belem here. It deserves it's iconic status. 9.5/10

This is the birthplace of the delicacy Portuguese custard tart (pasteis de nata). While you can…read morefind find these tarts all over Portugal, this is a must try when you visit The exterior is slightly modest, but is also absolutely gorgeous. It's well-lit, and something about it beacons you over. Maybe it's the line stretched out the door. The interior has beautiful blue and white tiles. The staff are all busy preparing tarts, helping customers, etc. I don't know why, but it feels like a shop right out of Harry Potter with the colors and almost antique beauty. The staff are dressed in dapper uniforms. Each person has an air of serious, yet charming, and sophisticated. For a place that pretty much has the same routine all day and services thousands of Hungary and demanding tourists, the staff were friendly enough, and very efficient The packaging was gorgeous. Again, it reminded me of a delicacy or to-go parcel you might get in the wizarding world. The tarts were delicious. I tried several egg/custard tarts in Portugal, and this is one of the best. While at least one of location in Sintra has my #1 pasteis de nata, this one is probably a close second You can order a variety of sizes/amounts, and the carry fairly well. There are also other treats like cakes, hot chocolate, etc Some tips: They have cinnamon and sugar you can put on top of your tart if you want to add to the flavor You B don't have to takeaway, and in fact it might be quicker service if you walk past the initial line and counter and head into the restaurant where you might be able to snag a table and eat your tarts on site Located near a couple incredible Lisbon landmarks you will want plenty of time to stroll around Belém and see the sites. It's a vibe, and a must do in Lisbon Cheers!!
