We had two great dinners at Duke's Waikiki this past week in May 2026!…read more For our first dinner, we want to give a huge shout-out to our server, Rio. Her energy was incredible, and she was so kind and accommodating to our family. Our second visit was with our extended family of 10. Eight of us arrived at 9:50 PM and requested the dining section because our two-month-old and three toddlers were sensitive to the live band. Initially, we encountered some seating difficulties near the dining room's 10:00 PM cutoff time. Thankfully, Kenny stepped in and was able to take care of us. We ended up having another fantastic dinner with excellent service. Thank you so much for creating a fun, enjoyable dinner for our family of 10! Huge praise to both Rio and Kenny for their outstanding hospitality! Whether you sit outside on the patio to enjoy the fun live band and hula dancing, or inside where it's a bit quieter and cozier, you are guaranteed to have a great time at Duke's!

So, Duke's is now located right on the beach inside the Outrigger Hotel. How many of these darn Outrigger's are there in Waikiki? These guys got it down pat. No shoes, no shirt, no worries. At the bar, the service is excellent. Even when they are slammed, you can have a conversation with the barkeeps. Their craft cocktails are on point. A must order is the Duke's Mai Tai, their signature cocktail made with fresh Hawaiian juices & two types of rum. Surprisingly, they offer a breakfast, lunch, and dinner prime rib buffet. We just ordered off the menu. Surprise number two, the food is excellent. We ordered the Duke's Nachos with kalua pork. Our nachos arrived piled high with black beans, jalapeños, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and Colby-Jack cheese, and of course, shredded pork. A local ice-cold draft beer was a perfect accompaniment. They did have live music one early evening, and the place was rockin' You can make a reservation online, and if you want a sit-down experience, make a reservation. We made a reservation for an early lunch, and we were able to easily secure two seats at the bar.

Located on the bottom floor of the Romer House (on the left of the Lobby)…read more I stopped in just for a drink before dinner. Unlike the Chinatown location, this place is smaller but very intimate. Since it just opened when I got there I cant tell you what kind of people relax here. I liked it as its quiet and calm. Ill have to go back to sample there food and update my review later.

Sadly I hoped I could give it a better review but since moving from the downtown venue to Waikiki I…read morejust couldn't. Located in a hotel called The Romer on Nāhua Street in Waikiki off of Kuhio (closer to Ala Wai Canal) it is a smallish unpretentious looking building on Diamond Head side of Nahua. They have valet stand in front and validate parking for up to 3 hours. The valet wasn't very friendly when we walked towards him and usually they hold the door open but this one did not. We realize he's probably not part of Lei Stand staff but it doesn't make a good first impression. Walk into the lobby and directly to your left is the Lei Stand. It is brightly neon but dark if that makes sense, and very small. If you're a fan of when it used to be on Bethel St downtown then you'll be disappointed with this venue. No view to be had, dark drapes cover the windows (we were there at 6:00 pm) and no cute little lanai or garden. Tiny tables either high tops or rounds - maybe 10 total and a small bar. There was one tiny corner booth. The lost star was for this set up but also another lost star for NO MUSIC. Music is such an important part of a place especially a bar so we were disappointed and appalled there was only silence. Bartender said the music was "broken" so we turned on our phones to get something on our table. Then two girls brought in something to light the place up with some tunes so that helped. The final lost star was it is called The Lei Stand yet there wasn't a lei stand inside the place. When we asked the bartender where it was he didn't even know what a lei was. Then we explained to him and he said it is in the hotel lobby but you have to go to front desk to let them know you wish to purchase one. Another disappointment. Thank goodness I bought her a lei from downtown in case they didn't have any. The good stars ... Star 1 goes to the drink menu and how delicious they tasted. "Rub up on my belly" was beautifully prepared and so delicious I had to have another one lol I mean how could I refuse a second guava jam infused Tito's vodka??? Bartender prepared with cute little garnish and an ice stick to keep it cold! He was very nice and took good care of us. My friend opted for the "Clifton's Curse" - yes there's a back story to this drink- and enjoyed the cognac, absinthe, bitters and sherry concoction! Ono! Star 2 goes to the food or "nibbles" as they call it. Taro chips and crack dip were yum and a nice handful of chips not too much and not too little. Hurricane fries - to die for! Plenty of furikake, parmigiano reggiano and spicy aioli. The girls who brought our food were very nice and made sure we had what we needed to enjoy, bringing us waters too. They also had a smash burger for $25 but we had dinner rez later so didn't want to indulge but it looked good. It might be cute if you wanted to do a private party here and I noticed a room across with a beautiful large table set up for a private dinner - not sure if part of hotel or bar.

He has been a fan of Johnny Valentine and said he was playing at the Mai Tai Bar in the Royal Hawaiian. The Bar is located in the back patio area that faces the beach. Arriving at 6:30pm, there was a line to be seated and when we were seated, we were at a nice table facing the beach, but we were on the opposite side where the stage Johnny was performing. Also, we were next to the bar and it was quite noisy. After ordering our drinks, which I got the Royal Sunset Ale, we spotted a table near the stage and asked our waitress if we could move there. She checked and said we could move there. It was a nice center table about 20ft from the stage and we could hear Johnny perform without the bar noise. Johnny is Hawaii's premier entertainer, who is Bruno Mars' uncle, is known for his vocal range and guitar skills. He performed Hawaiian songs and had a hula dancer on stage with him and he covered popular songs. He also came by our table during an intermission and graciously took pictures with us. Mai Tai Bar is not only a bar but a restaurant too, so it did have food offerings as well. The servers were friendly and efficient. It was a nice evening to cap off our vacation with a nice evening of music and drinks.

Do access their website, as there is a great backstory regarding how this beautiful property came to be. Spoiler alert: make reservations, request a table with an umbrella by the surf, order one of their famous Mai Tai cocktails, and enjoy their elevated cuisine, service, and entertainment. We arrived and were greeted by staff and directed to the dining area. Our request for a table by the beach was honored, and we were just far enough away from the (wonderful) entertainment that we could thoroughly enjoy it and carry on a conversation. I noticed that their Caesar salad had anchovies draped across the lettuce! Our wonderful professional server, Melissa, gave us a heads-up that the Apps were huge and easily shared. Our split salad arrived, and yes, sharing is the way to go. For our entrees, I ordered the swordfish, and Plus 1 ordered the sticky ribs appetizer for dinner. Swordfish is a tricky one to grill; one extra minute, and the fish turns to chewing gum. My dinner was cooked perfectly, firm and moist. We could have easily shared the sticky rib App. These ribs were tender as all heck and spiced to perfection. Since we were celebrating a special event, we were gifted with their famous Halekulani's Signature Coconut Cake. Wow, Light as a feather and oh so decadent! An adjoining table ordered a pizza, yes, a pizza for dinner. I must say the pizza looked awesome. This was a thin-crust gourmet pizza with some interesting meat and cheese toppings. I am a pizza snob times 10, and I would return just to order that pizza. Pro tip: You will be dining outside, so those pesky birds will be keeping a close eye on any food that you drop. Do not leave your table unguarded, or you will be feeding them (LOL). Enjoy all y'all!
