While we haven't worked with P&L as a landscape service, I had occasion to call them regarding a leaking poolside waterfall. Eric came to our house and helped evaluate what the problem might be. He recommended some masonry work be done to seal missing grout between the stones, and then a test to see how well that solution fared. The mason he brought in was absolutely fantastic and worked diligently to fill the gaps. We did a test on half of the waterfall and still lost water from the pool, so the mason came back and did the other side. We couldn't test that half because it was time to close the pool and the water level had to be dropped until spring of 2023. We will test again in the spring. Eric Brand was upfront about pricing. We are going through the repair(s) step by step to eliminate doing too much work too quickly on the waterfall. The last time we had the waterfall repaired, we spent a lot of money for a Hollis landscaper who fibbed (he really hadn't had his crew install a waterfall), he did find a kid to tear out the waterfall, but no one knew how to put it back together again! -- thousands of dollars later. No more work with that landscaper. Eventually we found a real mason who could reassemble it, and for a reasonable price. Eric's mason's name is Phil and he is a conscientious worker, staying later if the job requires it, and he works straight through while on the job -- no cell phone calls, no time wasted -- and he is very impressive (clean cut, friendly and professional). Eric Brand of P&L, too, is very impressive. He is a focused businessperson who doesn't mess around. He stays on top of a project until it's finished, from initial problem evaluation to finish...well, this project isn't quite finished yet because of our pool being closed, but I am confident he will be right back on top of the situation when spring arrives. read more

This company is responsible for the plowing at my property. They showed up at my home at 11:30 p.m. with no warning after I sat here all day waiting for them to appear and plowed my car in. I ran out in my slippers and yelled to the man driving the truck that if he gave me a minute I would move my car. He looked straight ahead as if I were not even there. So, I hurdled over the two-foot wall of snow that he had plowed up against the side of my car, barefoot in the snow from my slippers getting stuck in the snow wall against my car and finally got the door open and moved the car. Every time the come they do the same thing; no warning just show up plow me in and speed off before we can even get out and talk to them. read more

I normally do not post reviews online, but felt compelled to warn unsuspecting consumers about this company. I decided to go with P & L out of convenience when finishing a new house. They indicated that they could do finish work for a lawn, irrigation, hydroseed, landscape plantings and walkways. I went over everything I wanted with the owner prior to beginning, however that info did not appear to be passed on to the actual work crew. They cleared more areas then I wanted, had up to 7 sprinkler heads per zone after I specifically said to have 4-5 maximum. The guy in charge of installing the irrigation system left the company in the middle of my job. During the job, the owner said that I would need more material ($2000 cost increase) or I wouldn't like the finished product. I saw the cobblestone that was delivered for an apron and it wasn't the color I specified to the owner so I called and told him. He stated that he priced the job for the color that was delivered, but it would be an additional $300 for the color I wanted. The front walkway dropped a few inches over the winter. It took several months to have a crew return to try and fix it, but several other areas were disturbed. One side of the cobblestone apron sunk and had to be repaired. When it was pointed out to the owner, he said they would have to redo the whole thing to fix it right. However, when the crew came to fix it, they tried to only repair one side and made it worse. I had to hire a real contractor to fix it. Don't hire this company! read more

We got pine trees planted by P& L landscaping in July after waiting for them for weeks to come and installed them. After two weeks the trees were starting to turn yellow and brown. We called them and they said to make sure we were watering them enough. After less than two months 4 out of the 5 trees are almost dead. We called them and asked for replacement and their answer was sorry we don't guarantee the trees. We Had a few estimates done and choose them to give the small business a chance we'll next time I'll go with the bigger business. Even Home Depot has a year warranty in your plants. DO NOT use them. read more

Awful. We called P & L Landscaping to do a Spring Start up, they were scheduled and first came to our house on Thursday, June 7th. During the visit we found that we needed to replace some sprinkler heads and a leak. The gentleman they sent had an emergency with his son and had to leave (100% understandable!) but we were told that he would be back to complete the work Monday or Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday came and went and no one came back. I called on Wednesday and was told that they were busy and could not come back to complete the work until June 19th. We were frustrated that our job had to wait over 10 days to be completed but we scheduled it and waited. June 19th came and went and no one showed. I called every single day that week and was promised every single day that someone would be out to finish the work. No one came until Monday, June 25th - 18 days after the original service date. I understand that things get busy but no one was proactive about calling us and saying that the work would be delayed, it was always us calling them. When we got the bill it was higher than expected and when we emailed to ask about it no one responded. We are truly disappointed with the poor level of customer service and will not be using P & L Landscaping ever again. read more
