Here's the place to go if you need an extension cable, a toaster, a wall clock and such like. There's a great stock with plenty of models of each item. The shop specialises in home electricals, incliding tv parts - though if you need anything computer related you wont find it here. And expect to pay a full whack £14.99 - £24.99 for a toaster - there're no smartprice options here! I asked the owner how he does for business when I went in there recently to buy a tv scart lead, and he sounded pretty positive, as I guess there's not too much competition this end of town. Nevertheless I imagine many people head to the city centre chains and the Asda hypermarket for many item... Anyway, enough waffling! Support Dean's Electronics because it's local and the owner is lovely - he even gave me money off my purchase cos it was near closing time and he'd had a nice day!

If electricity runs through it, they sell it. Like many independent places, the quality of the service here is fabulous - I went in with an unusual shaped lightbulb which I had given up hope of being able to replace - they found it for me instantly.

Hence, I…read morenever really need to use this kind of shop for a blown up PC etc. I was needing to pick up some network cable though and decided to pop in here when I got off the train, rather than walk down to Maplins. Don't be put off by the shabby shopfront or the chaotic office/storefront. He was able to sort me out with cable at a fair price and I had a little chat with him about geeky computer stuff in general. He was knowledgeable about his trade and a pretty friendly guy. If you are not lucky enough to have had a friend like me to verse you in the ways of technology then I would recommend stopping by.

Aaanyway, he said it's be £100 for him to back up my files and reinstall windows. I'm not even sure it's not a hardware fault, but hopefully this'll fix it. It seems a little steep, and if I wasn't desperate I prob could've got a friend to do those things... but ah well! The guy was friendly though, he does the repairs himself so there's no sending it off and a long wait (he said it'd be done by tomorrow), and I like the suggestion of authenticity by his crazily cluttered IT geek office! Will keep you updated on actual repair... Note: the above opening times are the official ones but then he told me Monday is his day off... on the plus if you're busy he'll come to your's to diagnose the problem and pick the computer up most days.

They're always under-staffed and the few members of staff there are usually on the phone or already talking to a customer. Once you get to speak to someone however, the staff here are excellent. They know their products inside out and don't try to get you to sign up for services or phones you don't want. I went back to complain about a fault on my iPhone and the guy I spoke to not only helped me get it fixed, he helped me get a £45 credit added to my account. Now, that's what I call customer service!

And if you aren't tech savvy, but don't want to shell out for a new computer, Diamond can give advice and lend a hand with selecting and installing components for you! If you have a computer savvy friend you feel you can trust with your laptop/ desktop its probably worth asking them first, but for a professional service, Diamond are there if you need 'em.

We bought our fridge there about 4 years ago. We had looked at all the usual appliance shops and came across one at Scratch and Dent at a greatly discounted price, it had a slight dent on the side but it didn't matter because the way we were fitting it meant we wouldn't see the dent. The warranty was still valid on the fridge and it`s still going strong, a good buy. The owner was very helpful. They can only stock so much in their shop so it's worth asking if they any more lurking around back. You also need to check stock regularly as the turnover is quick and more sort after items go quickly. Parking is on the street.
