History

Established in 1990.

Our experience in the design industry stretches across several decades and encompasses a vast variety of projects and award-winning designs. Peter Bouwsema started PJB Design in 1990, operating out of his home after several years of working for other construction companies in Central Alberta. With his education in Civil Engineering and his eye for thoughtful design, he steadily built up a portfolio of interesting projects, including the Donut Mill in Red Deer, the award-winning Victoria House apartment building in Lacombe and the renovation/conversion of the Innisfail Alliance Church, along with several beautiful homes around the area. Brent Bouwsema joined the family business in 2003, bringing with him carpentry experience and education in architectural design. Brent's arrival marked the transition of the business from hand-drawing to computer-aided drafting. Brent's computer know-how also allowed for 3D renderings and visualizations to be added to our repertoire of services.

Meet the Business Owner: Peter B.

Peter Bouwsema was born and raised in Calgary and got his first taste of design from his father, a cabinet-builder. Peter attended SAIT after high school, completing a diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies. After their marriage in 1980, Peter and Lorraine moved to Central Alberta to raise their family. He found a market in the area for well-designed, functional homes and decided to pursue it.
