I've been to this spot twice in the past year and a half, more recently just before a play in the area. My party consisted of 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan, and 1 omnivore. We all mostly enjoyed the food and drinks. The menu is varied with a variety of different options, including dishes with meat substitutes like Beyond. I'm not a huge fan of meat substitutes so I really appreciate that they have options beyond (heh) that. My favorite of the night was the crabby cakes - I could eat them as my entree, especially with the aioli! The drinks were a huge hit with our group as well. If we didn't have plans right after dinner, we probably would have had more. My fave was the sloe-kiss, dangerously easy to drink! I got there before the rest of my party and I appreciated that they let me grab a table and start ordering. The service was great as well. My vegan friend is a huge fan of this place, so she brought me here for brunch. Really delicious food. I ordered the tofu breakfast wrap, which had a variety of flavors from the mushrooms, greens, seasoned tofu, and a great sauce. I was very full! My friend ordered the french toast, which was also amazing! The service is very friendly here! The food took 30-40 minutes to come out. At around the 35 minute mark, the server said there was an issue with the order printing machine. Although I wished they gave us a heads up earlier, I appreciated the update. This is more of a 3.5. Service was great, ambience was nice and a few of the dishes were fantastic. They were out of elderflower so my wife couldnt get the martini she was set on. They also left off the bleu cheese on her impossible burger- so a little disappointing for her. However those maitake wings (sweet thai chili sauce) and the chkn pot pie were the stars of the night. This place did not disappoint. We started with the Caesar Salad and Buffalo Maitake Wings. We couldn't decide on a sauce so we got all three to see which was the best (no clear winner has been decided). These portions were large so they were great for sharing!! For dinner, my friends and I ordered the Black-N-Bleu Burger (the sweet relish complimented the bleu cheese nicely) which was SO good! We also ordered the 'Chicken' Pot Pie and shared everything so we could explore the menu options. We got a side of the mashed potatoes but sadly they were a miss, very bland and sad. Our server said the mac-n-cheese was the best, we should have listened. Overall 10/10 recommend!!! PS Kitchen is a small blink-and-miss restaurant near the world-famous Times Square Garden. While we were exhausted walking around craving a vegetarian meal, we stumbled upon this place, and here is the summary of our review: My actual rating is 3.5 but because they made us wait so long, it was an unpleasant experience 1) Ambiance 4/5: The place is small but given the location, they have done well to maintain the ambiance of this place 2) Service 2/5: This is by far my biggest sore here. We had to wait for over 30 minutes for a burger and burrito on the pretext of it being about to be closed and they didn't even give us the extra sauce which we asked and they even mentioned in their bill. This was disappointing as they could have stopped entertaining guests if it was too late. 3) Food 5/5: Here is the summary of the food we had. The food was really tasty and filling. a) Beyond burrito: Great if you are looking for a filling single meal. It has great taste. b) PS burger: Again a juicy and great vegan burger with beyond patty and cheese 4) Value for Money 4/5: Not the cheapest place as simple burritos and burgers and about $18 but given its location, it would not be cheap. It's hard to find a nice, uncrowded spot to eat at in the middle of Times Square so this was a welcome respite. The staff at the door was super sweet and sat our reservation immediately. I'm personally not vegan but half of our party was, so this was a very favored spot for them. We had a few things: the chicken caesar salad, a caesar chicken wrap, and thai chicken sandwich with sides of mac & cheese, sweet potato fries and potato salad. Everything was delicious. It's hard when you're not vegan to get used to the consistency of some things but overall it was fine. The sauce on the thai chicken sandwich was good. I love the combination. 5*Maitake Wings-Breaded Organic Maitake Mushrooms with Choice of Buffalo Sauce, BBQ, and Sweet Thai Chili, served with Potato Salad, Celery Sticks, Carrot Sticks, and House Bleu Cheese: there are three different sauces, we chose Thai sweet and chili sauce and it turned out great. I have been a patron of PS Kitchen since 2019 and I have never been disappointed in the near half dozen times I've been since. I have enjoyed their wine in the past, but I'm so glad I recently discovered that the real joy is found in their non-alcoholic mocktails (specifically the gin one)! I love their sandwiches, pasta and main entrees, but my secret is that I just keep going back to the crab cakes and seasonal soup. The seasonal Colombian potato soup I had a few weeks ago with fresh avocado was truly out of this world. I've never had any issue with service there, but it can be quite busy at rush hour. I do wish portions were larger as well, at least for the soup. My fiancée and I come here on special occasions and before broadway shows. In 2023, we did the epic valentines dinner special and I couldn't recommend that enough as an easy way to please your vegan partner. I say that to stress that I come here, willingly, almost every week to get their Cesar salad with "chicken" and avocado. Our family of six was on a one-day trip from Boston via Amtrak to see THE GREAT GATSBY on Broadway, and we had discovered P.S. Kitchen when exploring vegan and GF options near the theatre. We picked the right one. From the moment we entered the nearly empty restaurant at 11:00 AM until we departed from an entirely full dining room at 1:10, we were treated with the most relaxed and gracious hospitality. Our server, Sebastian A, made it clear that we would not be rushed at all, and that made the dining experience a real joy. Although the restaurant is expensive, the food is delicious, creatively prepared and presented, and appealing even to the non-vegans in the group. We started with three appetizers: Truffle Fries, "Crabby" cakes, and Chili Cheese Fries. The fries were exquisite, and the chili cheese used "Beyond Meat" and a delicious vegan cheese to create a healthful appetizer with full flavors. The "Crabby" cakes had the texture of a conventional crab cake, and the artichoke base made them delicious. Sebastian did warn us before we ate that the fryer for the fries was shared with gluten items, so part of our party opted for the GF mashed potatoes instead. This was a very attentive and remarkable save by a waiter who really cared. Our main courses were brought to the table as we finished the appetizers, showing that they did not intend to rush us, despite the fact that the restaurant was filling up with other theatre-goers. We had three of the "Beyond Meat" burgers: the "Black and Blue" with blue cheese, the "Smokey BBQ", and the "PS Burger." The GF buns for some of the party were described as "the best GF buns we have ever tasted, " while the pretzel buns (with gluten) were also outstanding. At about $20/burger, I might have enjoyed them more if there were a light salad or accompaniment to the relatively lonely burger. We did not drink alcohol (wanting to be fully alert for the show), but we loved the espresso, the mint tea, the Paris Tea, the double espresso, and the "Bangkok Hustle" (mock). There was time for dessert and we were delighted with three of them: Pistachio Cherry Bundt, Brownie with Ice Cream, and Apple Cobbler. They were rich and filling and a very nice capstone to the meal. Since we were a party of six, they informed us that a 20% gratuity had been added to the check, and that's exactly what I would have paid for the excellent food and attentive service. Keep on reading... Here my dining experience started at a very strong 97. Ordered the Maitake Wings and the Sweet Thai Chili chicken sandwich with truffle fries. Both of these items were flawless. The wings were greasy but delicious af. Now the experience went straight to the 30s. Then ordered the Lasagna and the flavor was just too earthy for me to digest and enjoy. Still ate it. Lastly ordered the peach cobbler and it was not even mid. Too much cinnamon and a mess to deal with. I don't enjoy it when restaurants make it complicated to eat food. Take notes. While it is truly puréed, and that could be a challenge for many of us texture ppl, the graininess is there which makes it bearable and more importantly enjoyable, along with its immense flavor. I was starving after my annual physical the other day and this place was around the corner from the doctor's office. I'm not vegan, but the good reviews (and the guilt from the doc appt pushing me to a more "healthy" option) led me to give it a try for lunch. Both dishes were good but not exceptional. They serve impossible burgers -not their own house made burgers. My husband ordered a specialty cocktail and it was garnished with a rosemary sprig and he had to pick little rosemary pieces out of his drink. It was described as a smoked drink and it smelled like a charcoal grill that was doused with lighter fluid. He didn't drink it and ordered something else but they still charged us. This is not an upscale restaurant by any means, they just charge like one. We dont mind spending when food and service are worth it but this place was a disappointment and I will not be returning. If I could rate 3.5/5 that would be more accurate. I was intrigued at first when I found out that this was a vegan restaurant who donated their profit to charity. This is near Times Square so they were intentional about letting people see Broadway shows know to make reservations well in advance. We arrived around 7:10 pm for a 7:30 pm reservation on a Saturday and were seated in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant was dimly lit in a shade of pink, and tables were mostly flocked by couples. My friend and I ordered maitake wings ($20), lasagna ($23) and linguini ($23). The maitake wings were a bit underwhelming due to the soft texture- was expecting a bit more crunch from the fried exterior but the taste itself was as expected. Lasagna was delicious and the use of tofu as ricotta was clever. The cashew cream in the linguini was not as creamy.. I also ordered a lavender martini ($18) which aesthetically was a beautiful drink with sunset beach vibes but the taste of lavender was overly strong that it reminded me of soap. The ambience makes this place good for an intimate date but unfortunately, for the value of the taste, I don't think I will visit again especially given the prices of everything.
