Not sure why I haven't tried Pacífico before but definitely coming back. Ended here on Saturday after trying different places and all were full or needed a reservation. It was New Haven Restaurant week weekend and most restaurants in the area were participating. We walked in and although it was busy we were able to get a table for 2 within minutes. We both took advantage of the special which was 3 course meal for $45. For my appetizer I chose the shrimp ceviche which was my least favorite of the 3 as it was bland and only had 3 shrimp and ove 20 diced yellow peppers. It was mostly peppers. For my main dish I chose the churrasco with fried yucca. The steak was cooked to perfection and yucca fries were hot, crunchy and perfectly salted. For dessert we both chose the Tres leche cake. It was good. I definitely would love to go back on a regular night and try their regular menu or sit at the bar as it looked like a nice bar. Service was nice and fast even with a full room. We got our drinks refilled in a timely manner and got checked in by our server often. read more

Great small hole in the wall restaurant that seems to have been an old house. The restaurant is maintaining Covid practices. We started with mojitos and scotch and had homemade guacamole which was very good. The next course we had was cerviche and octopus. The cerviche was a bit overwhelmed in flavor by pineapple and mango abs had very little amount of shrimp in it. The octopus was.L cooked to perfection with very good flavor and side of bean salad. We then had the pork belly that was cooked so nicely you could cut in with a fork. My husband had the red snapper for his main dish. The fish was cooked very nicely with a light coating of breading however not much seasoning. I had the churassco steak with rice and it was good but not great. It was over cooked and lacked flavor unless you used the sauce. This restaurant is an absolute gem. During my week-long work trip, I came here twice: the first time with my colleagues and the second time by myself. The ambiance is is lovely and the creative and impeccable. I ordered the yuca fries and green mussels the first time. The second time I returned for the red mussels. The sauces are just slightly thickened which I enjoyed a lot. The yucas were fried to perfection and were probably the best fries I ever tasted. My colleagues had the salmon caramelizado and the camarones, each so beautifully arranged and delicious - I wish I had taken pictures.. The service we enjoyed was just as wonderful as the food. If I lived in New Haven, I would be a regular at Pacifico! read more

Creative menu, but not an extensive menu. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening and we were sat outside promptly. We made a reservation but did not need it (table of 9). I recommend the seafood paella. It was filled with seafood and was flavorful. I was hungry and this satisfied me. The apps are not big. I would plan on ordering a few. The goat cheese in the empanadas were ! Amazing! And the accompanying sauce was delicious. The calamari was tasty- especially with the jalapeños. The Mango lemonade was very good. Oh, absolutely. Went for a cheeky little happy hour on a Monday at 5pm and really enjoyed my time. Happy hour menu was fabulous (although I did have to ask specifically for it). Connecticut state law requires establishments that sell alcohol to provide potable water FREE upon request. Bartender said she couldn't, I could only purchase bottled water, which was $3. The only reason I decided on a two star rating vs. a single star rating is because of the waiter. At the start, he was very attentive but after the drinks were served, we were not checked upon for another drink nor even refill the water glasses. Very disappointed with the visit to Pacifico. The hostess/manager was not kind enough to get us a seat elsewhere because where she seated us felt isolated and in the middle of a stairway. Every time the waiters or others walked by, we felt someone was going to trip over us. There were plenty of availability, but she told us there were none available. The server was kind and attentive initially and that faded right after the first drink was served. We were not asked for another drink nor were our water glasses refilled. The food was a pre-fix menu and everything (appetizer to entree to dessert) lacked flavor, taste and most importantly the food was cold. I went to Pacifico with my dog Waffle, and we were both treated very nicely. It was restaurant week, so we were there for lunch. I had the calamari and gave a little to Waffle and we both enjoyed it very much. My entrée was the salmon, it was fabulous. The vegetables and beans it was severed over couldn't have been more perfect. I gave a little to Waffle as she loves salmon and from her expression, I knew it was a winner. I want to preface this review by stating that I was a solo female traveler during this experience. While I wish that didn't impact my visit here, I think it played a part in my poor experience. In addition to it being restaurant week so there were deals on food. The food itself gets a 5 star rating. I did indeed order from the restaurant week menu. I visited for lunch and had the option of an appetizer and entree. I chose the ceviche de camaron (Shrimp Ceviche). It was very tasty. There were 5 jumbo pieces of shrimp and the plantain chip with the tomato, citrus, avocado, and onion. I could've eaten several more helpings of it. My entree of choice was the duck quesadilla. The duck with the pomegranate, jalapeño aioli and roasted corn compliment each other nicely. That's about all the nice things I have to say about this place. When I first arrived the hostess was nice and seated me outdoors and that's where the niceness and cordial service ended. My waiter barely greeted me, never told me his name and just tossed a menu down in front of me. Never took the time to explain the restaurant week specials going on and failed to tell me that items on the full menu were also available. The duck quesadilla, wasn't my first choice. I asked my waiter what his suggestion was given the choices Branzini, Salmon, followed by the quesadilla. My waiter quickly spat (yes spat) at me "Duck. I hate fish" and that was the extent of that conversation. The reason why I make such a big deal about this service is the fact I observed this same waiter give nice and cordial service to all the rest of his tables. While I understand a solo diner may not bring in the largest tips, I expected at the very least civil and respectable service. I'm also conscious of this when I travel and those who treat me with respect often get a greater than 20% tip. I was very disappointed with my service and doubt I will return to the establishment. Drove by here plenty of times and they were always busy. The thought never crossed my mind to actually dine there until last week. I was searching for a place with happy hour food and drink specials. This was one of the places that popped up.... It was a rainy mid-week afternoon when I decided to go to Pacifico. Except for a couple people at the bar, we were the only ones at a table. I thought wow this place is small, no wonder it always seems packed. Didn't realize until just now (reading other reviews) that there is an upstairs dining area. So I went specifically for Happy Hour, but never got offered any happy hour specials. I think maybe it was only for people sitting at the bar??? Sat down, and I couldn't tell if the service was being rushed or if our server was just bored because we were the only table there. Maybe a little combination of both. Started with drinks, those were awesome! Then we had apps, more awesomeness! Having a whole tentacle on the Grilled Octopus plate presented before me was kinda cool! The veggie arepa was good. The beet salad filled my need for vegetables. It was light and fresh. And I almost forgot about the raw oysters. So fresh and highly appreciated since a lot of restaurants stopped serving them. Then onto my main entree, The Shrimp and scallops. There were a lot of small components to this dish, so there was no one amazing bite. Every bite was slightly different which meat the neither the shrimp or the scallop was the star but more like major players. It was good, just wish there were a few more pieces of ravioli to make it a solid dish. And the presentation was beautiful! Actually all of the dishes were presented beautifully. It added to the whole experience. I just wonder if the presentation is at the same quality level when this place is busy. Hopefully next time I can figure out where and how to partake of the happy hour specials! Went here for the first time last night pre-theater: a lovely surprise! The tables are cozy, but not too small or crowded, we were seated by the window. Service was terrific, our waitress gave us time to savor our drinks before the entrees arrived. I had the best Oaxaca Old Fashioned I've ever had: not too sweet, balanced flavors, and generously strong. Shrimp and scallops over ravioli were delicious, I asked for bread to mop up the sauce. First we ordered the cheese in a pan. It was creamy and delicious. The queso fondido had really good little meat bits. The little meat bits really were chorizo. The salmon was also very good. Very convincingly salmon. It definitely was the pink fish. The thick rice risotto were flavorful and had big juicy carrots on top. Scrumptious. On a scale of 1-10, the experience was a solid 10+. We shared guacamole, and fries as an app. I had a classic margarita, my two coworkers had a mojito and a strawberry margarita. The drinks were great. Very nice atmosphere Rafa and Leah were very helpful for ordering the first time. I enjoyed the food I tried the Short Ribs Empanadas with shiitake mushrooms, onions, goat cheese with raisins guajillo sauce. Their pork fried was great, as was the Croqueta de Cangrejo which was plantain-crusted jumbo lump crabcake, and jicama mango slaw. Sat outside on Sunday 9/17 for Brunch. Had a salmon tartare as a starter that was very tasty, and the eggs benedict over crab cakes for my main dish - excellent! The serving/portion size was large enough that I was full at the end. I had one delightful mimosa and coffee afterward that was very strong, robust & flavorful. Didn't realize it was, so it was a prix fixe menu ( I think that's what it's called lol) 45$ for a 3 course meal was not bad at all. The options were pretty good. Started off with drinks. The Blanco sangria was enjoyable. We then moved along to the Pacifico Guacamole. In my friend and I's opinion it could have used more lime juice, cilantro, and salt. 18$ for Guac?..it should taste fire. I ordered the Cranberry salad. I did not get blue cheese crumbles because I personally don't like them. The salad was a bit dry, could have used more shallot vinaigrette. I then ordered the Guava Chipotle BBQ ribs with French fries and pineapple jicama. The French fries were delish and so was the slaw. The ribs were so tender..forked right off the bone but they had no flavor. In my opinion very bland like the guac. I ended my meal with the tres leches which was ok. I enjoyed the rasberry sauce on top. The restaurant itself is beautiful. I love the low lighting. Absolutely atrocious and unprofessional customer service here. No one was manning the bar whatsoever. Our server was clueless and likely high on something. He refused to write our large order down and thus had to come back multiple times to ask, meanwhile we waited a solid 25 minutes for someone (anyone!) to bring us our first round of draft beer. When we asked about the drink order status he gave attitude and actually chased after us down the street when we walked out in disgust. There is a reason why this place is totally empty while the adjacent establishments are packed. Zero stars here. read more

Had a night out here with friends and was pretty impressed with its COVID-safe indoor dining without compromising good food and drinks. The house sangria is amazing - comes in pomegranate or Prosecco flavors. We got one of each and the Prosecco was a really refreshing well-balanced drink. The pomegranate sangria had too powerful of a fruit flavor. The ceviche was really delicious! Loved the like and juices that soak up. Octopus and calamari were delish!!! They do have good seafood. Oh and the platter of oysters were quite tasty. Other entree-wise the guac was ok. Cauliflower not bad but had a rich sauce. The other shrimp dishes were good too. I came here Saturday night (Sunday morning) around midnight. I ordered drinks with the bartender who was a female blondish- brown hair. Too bad I didn't get her name. I ordered drinks and had her hold my card as an open tab. When it came time to close out my tab she told me I didn't give her my card. I told her I did and that she can check the cameras. She was actually ARGUING with me saying she didn't have it and no I never gave it to her. A man, who may have been the manager helped her look all over the bar and they didn't find it. My partner paid for the tab with cash. The girl still never found my card- she lost it. On my way home, I received a text message (see picture below). Saying that someone found my card and that they charged my card - even though my partner paid the tab in cash and I did not sign it and therefore it is not valid. I live almost 40 minutes away so it was super inconvenient for me to come get my card today- but it would take a week or more for me to get a new one in the mail. I called Sunday afternoon and spoke to a man named Raffa- he apologized profusely and was very kind and understanding. He told me he would have the charges refunded and they'd take a few days. I'm still waiting for the refund to go through. When I came today around 2:00- a skinny white male with glasses was there. I told him the situation he then asked for my ID (as he should) for verification. Before giving it to me he said I needed to sign my tab as proof that I picked up my card. Nice try buddy. I was a waitress at several restaurants and we only asked for an ID when guests came back for their cards. Why would I sign that receipt if the charges are not valid? Also, I asked him for proof that I had been refunded- he said since he couldn't find the ticket in the system- it was being refunded. We'll see about that. I understand mistakes happen. But that female waitress needs customer service 101 - arguing with customers, losing a card, charging it when the tab was paid in cash then texting the receipt- sloppy. And the male who worked there today who tried getting me to sign an check with invalid charges. Ok so I had a nice girls night with me and my two friends right after work this place disappointment me two years ago when I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and almost died cause it was not good BUT I didn't give a zero star cause I wanted to give them another chance. And I got fish tacos one friend ordered steak tacos which she really enjoyed and the other a salad which she said was actually refreshing and good. My tacos were pretty fire t y'all I mean they are tiny enough to get stuck in my tooth but they were so good and simple. We really enjoyed this restaurant. We visited around 3:00 on a Saturday (late lunch). We were not in the mood for a huge meal so we decided to do several tapas. For starters we had a pitcher of Red Sangria and it was delicious. Very fruity and tasty. We had a half dozen of oysters which were delicious. For our tapas we ordered he short rib empanadas, the fried oyster Mofongo, pork belly, queso fundido and bbq ribs. We enjoyed our meal. Just about everything had so much flavor and the presentation was absolutely wonderful. The short rib empanadas were so good, it came with a sauces which was delicious. Our favorite was the fried oyster Mofongo. It was packed with flavor and the presentation was really creative (in the oyster shell). The pork belly was ok but not my favorite. I would have preferred if it were a bit more crunchy but oh well. The queso fundido was good we preferred it with the chips instead of the tortillas. Finally he bbq ribs were fall of the bone ridiculous. The service was really good and I liked how he was attentive but not overbearing. He offered suggestions and alternatives for our next visit. Our patio waitress was obnoxious and didn't listen to a word we sad. She was snippy and rude to the table behind us and could not of cared less about our dinner or experience.
