Pachamama Coffee! I luv saying the name. Better yet, that's some darn good coffee. The cafes are mainly in Sacramento and the foothills. This particular one is in Placerville, right on touristy Main Street. Well It's actually tucked in a shopping pedestrian alley right off Main Street. The coffee is delicious. I've had their various drip coffees before, all terrific tasting. My usual go to's are their lattes. This time I was in the mood for a seasonal winter drink, wintermint mocha. Yum! I ordered it with oat milk and they don't up charge. The mocha had a smooth, creamy chocolate espresso taste. I even got a pretty design of foamed milk on top of my drink. Aww it was cute. No up charge for that as well and I didn't even ask them to do it Outside the cafe is an outdoor courtyard with bistro tables for folks to sit n enjoy their coffee or whatever. I say whatever because the area is open for all to sit a spell. The courtyard is enclosed with brick buildings around its square perimeter. The buildings provide ample shade and cooling temps in the summer. Plus there is a water fountain that provides a calming zen like sound of trickling water. The cafe also has an indoor seating area. This was the nicest coffee shop I've been to in quite awhile and I was very impressed by the quality of coffee and ambiance. They serve organic coffee and I could really taste the difference. They currently have a seasonal menu and their regular menu included some unique options. The maple latte caught my eye; I ordered it with oat milk and it was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Seriously! It wasn't overpoweringly sweet, but there was enough flavor so it actually tasted like a maple latte instead of a warm milk as many special drinks end up tasting from my experience. It's always disappointing to buy an expensive coffee that doesn't have enough flavor, but you'll get what you pay for here. They offer a few little snacks and there is tons of seating (indoor and outdoor!) with beautiful natural light, art and plants. The baristas were kind and helpful and made beautiful latte art. I was very surprised to see this type of establishment in Placerville, but after learning more about the cooperative, how they work, and its main location, I think it was a genius move to open one up in here, and with good reason as most of the coffee shops in the county are below par. I do enjoy their variety of syrups, prepared meticulously with raw ingredients. Some of them may be a bit too sweet, but nothing compared to Starbucks' or bean barn's excessive, sugary crap. If I was to suggest one thing, it'd be to heat up the milk a bit more. Most of the time is just part warm and it cools down quickly. Other than that, this is great, unfiltered, pure coffee that deserves to be recognized and had at every opportunity. read more

This cafe is beautifully decorated, minimalist and chic! I loved the patio where you can sit in the shade and sip your coffee. Location downtown is great. I ordered the iced vanilla bean latte and it was very yummy! You can taste how high quality the ingredients are. I took a star off because the pricing was very high (which I understand bc the coffee is organic) but the price on the menu was $7.50 then when I was rung up it said $8.50. Then the lowest tip option was $1. So that's a $9.50 latte, which is steep! Worth it if you feel like splurging. read more

I am a sucker for boutique coffee and I love that I work right along Main St. so Pachamama is always the first choice for a coffee run. The baristas here are so sweet and love what they do. Service is always attentive and the recommendations are always great when I'm not sure what to get. I love to browse the store while staff members pull the perfect espresso and craft specialty drinks. There's so many bean offerings here from different origins and every bag has a little back story. I love that Pacha is 100% organic and farmer owned! The vanilla bean latte is my usual. You can see and taste the real vanilla bean and when it's mixed into some good espresso and organic milk, it makes for a great start to my day. They also use Rishi barista matcha and it is my favorite brand of matcha blend BY FAR. The flavor is always consistent and never gritty here. They carry lots of yummy syrups that are hard to find in the area. Try the blueberry matcha! There is also a pandan matcha latte that is so creamy and earthy and downright delicious. Upon entering I noticed a lot of nice artwork. We ordered the Pumpkin & Cardamom latte and I tasted a stronger cardamom flavor with a subtle hint of pumpkin. I asked for oat milk but they were out so I opted for almond milk. I like that there's no surcharge for alternative milks, this should be normalized in all cafes! Another drink we ordered was the Criollo Cacao Mocha, which tasted richer and a tad spicy, but it did not seem thoroughly mixed as there were clumps at the bottom. The drink sleeves had nice sayings which was a nice touch too :) We also ordered an almond chocolate chip muffin that was freshly made and still warm. There was a large variety of coffee beans from different places to purchase as well. Although I wished there were more pastry options, this is a cute cafe in a quaint town! read more

Lovely local coffee and tea here at Pachamama in Placerville, tucked away in a quiet side alley that's great for studying or "working from home", or just chilling. Genuinely friendly and attentive staff; huge variety of drinks and a massive amount of coffee selections, as well as indoor seating, this is a little jewel in the Sierra foothills. My matcha latte was perfect, not overly sweet and exactly as I asked for it - seemed like pretty quality matcha as well. Of note, the large family in front of me had a complex and convoluted order just 10 min before closing, and the staff handled it with a welcoming and patient attitude, which was nice to see. This was the café I felt most unwelcome and uneasy in! It was our first time stopping by Placerville on the way to Lake Tahoe, we stopped by to grab coffee and some snack for myself and my toddler. As soon as we got there, the vibe was off right away, we parked and saw a hanging mannequin outside on top of another establishment which was not a good sight if you're with a toddler. Even though this wasn't part of Pachamama, this definitely set the tone for the rest of our stop. I looked around and understood where we were right away, and as POC, our guards were all the way up. We had to go inside a building to get to the café. The whole space was eerie and the energy was not good. As soon as we got there, we were stared down by the employees (even some of the customers) which made us feel uneasy as we were the only POC in the vicinity. It felt like everyone were whispering to each other as it was really quiet, and no music was being played so the silence was deafening. We went on about to order and as soon we were in line, there were no breakfast, snacks or other non-caffeinated drinks in sight (there are photos on here which shows a fridge full of other drinks and even baked goods - those are nowhere to be found!), they only had some kind of cookie available. When it was our turn to order, I asked if they had other snacks for a kid to eat and the employee right off the bat wasn't friendly at all. She answered with only one-word answers and was a blah to interact with. I asked her if we can just have water, she pointed that there was one behind me, but I requested one without ice and she seemed to be annoyed to do the bare minimum. We ordered a cup of coffee to go and for some reason the barista (who also kept staring) made the coffee of the person behind us first. We didn't want to stay there any longer, so as soon as we got our coffee we didn't bother checking out the rest of the shops nearby. I've been to other Pachamama before and I recall enjoying their service, this one on the other hand didn't have the same experience. In a way, it kind of tarnished their image for me, having POC be celebrated on the walls for the craft that they do, just for it to be diminished by the people who work there to be very unwelcoming is really unfortunate to experience. read more

Was craving iced coffee and stopped in here on a super hot day in Placerville. This cafe is down a cute brick alleyway off of the main downtown area. It's quiet and the aesthetic is clean and modern inside, with lots of art. I got a cold brew with almond milk and my boyfriend got an iced honey latte. They forgot my almond milk but we're friendly and apologetic when I went up to ask for it to be added. Both drinks were nice and refreshing but the latte was a little watery and could've been a bit sweeter/more flavorful. Also, I'd recommend sitting outside as we enjoyed the view of the fountain and surrounding greenery and flowers. read more

This place is so great to have in Placerville. My husband gets home a coffee beans here every few weeks. They have a program where you buy an airtight canister from them and whenever you get it filled with beans it is cheaper than buying a bag, and you get a free drink that day. Highly recommend the Guatemalan beans. They are our favorite medium roast. read more

I'm a fan of Pachamama's seasonal beverages (and their other locations) so I was really excited to try them out in Placerville. I also wasn't a lover of the coffee at the previous business that occupied this space, so am thrilled that Pachamama has come in and revamped the place with quality coffee. This is my go-to spot between Sacramento and Tahoe on Highway 50. It's right off the freeway and the adjacent parking lot (first 2 hrs are free) makes for a convenient stop. Bonus for the plant-based snacks like bagels and vegan cream cheese. What this Pachamama location currently lacks in space they make up for in outdoor tranquility. The courtyard is enjoyable on any day that isn't raining, complete with a lovely fountain. It's also in a nice location to explore the shops of Historic Downtown Placerville. I look forward to seeing how their expansion in process turns out and definitely plan on coming back. read more

We stopped by this new Pachamama location after a great Boa Vista Orchards visit. It's tucked away, but that makes it feel like a secret gem. They have a great menu of items, including seasonal beverages and items only available to this location. The staff is very knowledgeable and are happy to tell you more about Pachamama Coffee and all the amazing things their doing at every step of coffee production. Once you have your delicious items you can find seating inside or out in the little courtyard complete with flowers and waterfall. All the seating areas are comfortable and perfect for meeting with friends, a date or getting some work done. There are also so many restaurants and small shops around to keep you entertained and Pachamama is the perfect spot to stop before, during or after. I'm excited for another visit where I can hang around longer. read more

They made this non coffee drinker a super yummy spicy chai/apple cider latte concoction with cayenne pepper cinnamon and nutmeg and it was wonderful.
