Choosing South Bay Montessori was one of the best decisions we made as parents, and we feel incredibly grateful for the loving, clean and nurturing environment created by the teachers, staff, and director ( Ms. Evien ). From day one, we knew she was in exceptional hands. All the teachers ( special thanks to Ms. Luna, Ms. Heidy, and Ms. Angie ) at South Bay Montessori are truly priceless. Their love, dedication, and individualized attention helped our daughter grow not only academically but also emotionally. She gained knowledge, confidence, and independence while being surrounded by warmth and genuine care every day. As working parents, there was nothing more reassuring than knowing she was safe, happy, and well cared for every day. That peace of mind meant the world to us. The school is wonderfully organized and guided by a thoughtful educational approach that balances strong academics with kindness and support. The teachers, staff, and director go above and beyond to create a community that truly feels like an extension of family. South Bay Montessori is more than just a school -- it is a place where I see that all children are loved, respected, and encouraged to become their best selves. As our daughter graduated in 2025, saying goodbye was truly bittersweet. South Bay Montessori has played such an important role in our daughter's early years and has left a lasting impact on our family. We will always be deeply thankful for the love, guidance, and education she received at SB Montessori. South Bay Montessori will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a truly exceptional Montessori experience.

My daughter completed her first year this year and they both deeply love their school. We chose The Children's Place Montessori because of the wonderful environment, the small class size, the affordability, and most of all the total commitment to true Montessori learning, not just having a lot of pretty wooden furniture and saying you're a Montessori school. Children are allowed to explore and go at their own pace. Sometimes that means they go quickly through a subject (though still with a thorough understanding) and sometimes more slowly as time and interest provide. That opportunity makes a huge difference and takes a lot of care and attention in a classroom full of kids. We really did not want computers in the classroom when our son was in kindergarten and are even more glad they're not a part of his early elementary education. Homeschooling was not in the cards for our family, but I really feel like the approach to learning here is the next best thing for our family. This is not a business that also happens to be a school. It's first and foremost a dedicated place of guidance that serves the whole child. I'm so grateful we lucked into an open spot exactly when we needed it so many years ago and look forward to many more years as a part of this wonderful community.

When we moved out of the area so that my son started kindergarten, that is when we unenrolled. I really like the balance between indoor/outdoor time and also between structured/open play. There is a lot of free open play built into the day's schedule which I like because the kids get to interact with each and build friendships. At the same time, there is also structure and routine. A typical day is as follows (this is when my children were enrolled so maybe this has changed a bit, you'll have to check with the school): before 9 am is open play. Lots of Montessori style toys and activities for kids to choose from. 9-11 am is academics with children being grouped by age. Their curriculum is age appropriate for that group. 11-1 pm is lunch and open play outside. The outside has plenty of space plus a playground plus flowers/plants and other items to play with. 1-2:30 pm is nap time for those who still nap. Nap is a separate building in the back away from the kids that no longer sleep so the kids can rest undisturbed. If they no longer nap, then there is an art/craft activity, spanish class, music class and/or another learning activity for those kids. 2:30-3:30 pm is open play and a snack break. I think they also offer extended care 3:30 pm - ? but I didn't have the kids in extended care, so I am not sure about the experience. I would imagine there is more open indoor/outdoor play. The teachers there have been there for many years. They are very sweet and caring but also have rules and safety expectations. They are attentive and they tune into what they see throughout the day. They will share important information or behaviors that they pick up on from your child and they will communicate. I also would go to them for advice if I was struggling with language or behaviors at home and they often would have very helpful tips to help me work on that and it often worked. This place is a very clean!! The kids are constantly washing their hands from the first moment they walk in the door and throughout the day. This place will be an amazing environment for your children. They will make strong friendships and also will be ready for elementary school. It is run by very great teachers, and it is affordable compared to all the other Montessori type schools in the area. I know because i looked into all of them and researched and compared. I was surprised that there are not a larger or students enrolled, but i think the reason is that Torrance Montessori is not an app-based school and/or a social media school. This school functions with good old fashion phone calls/and or speaking in person. My children both had a great experience here and they still have playdates with friends that they met here. I am glad I found this school when I did.

My oldest started in Room 3 with Miss Mishelle, and to this day she is the reason I feel completely at peace dropping my child off every morning, knowing they are in the best hands. The foundation he received in her classroom was huge for him and truly helped prepare him to be accepted into our first-choice, very competitive private school. My daughter started in Room 2, where Ms. Tracy helped potty train her (which I'll always be grateful for), and has since transitioned into Toddler Room 5 with the lovely Nancy. Ms. Dani, who floats around the classrooms is so loved, she's an amazing assisting teacher and an extra helping hand wherever it's needed, and it makes such a difference. The enrichment programs are also a huge bonus...Mandarin and Spanish classes, plus gymnastics and dance during recess, are things you don't find everywhere and add so much to the kids' experience. However children who challenge us I have come to find have a capacity of great intelligence and it shouldn't be reprimanded but instead guided with great love and patience so that the potential is not stunted but instead flourishes. At CMSG, Athena had flourished beyond my expectations. Her socialization with her peers had improved her verbal communication immensely within weeks. And after months, after keen monitoring, her interests guided her to her strengths and in which case was mathematics. Athena was in preschool age counting, adding, subtracting and even multiplying. Imagine the feeling of asking your preschooler what was 2 x 3 and they know! I was astounded. It only goes to show the value of the Montessori Method, that running with the interest and personal strengths of the child optimizes learning. It's very intuitive and requires a love which there was an abundance of with the CMSG family. She made great friends and was introduced beautifully to cultural diversity which promotes community value and respect on a larger scale. These are the foundations in children I feel are overlooked and undervalued in public schools. It wasn't easy making the tuition but I will absolutely stand by the fact it was worth every penny. Giving your child a solid head-start is priceless and as a parent we want to give our children the best. I believe CMSG was the best decision we made for our baby. I love Julie and Dan and have great faith in them to root your child(ren) well for their best beginning. ‍

Our kid is quite shy in new environments and separation anxiety is still high. The teachers and staff are always so warm and welcoming in addressing him to make him feel safe and loved. He now talks about Ms. Hillary and his teachers like they're his friends. For context, we moved this past summer to MB from San Francisco, where we had our first son in multiple private preschools due to covid. We also had our kid in another preschool in MB prior to this where he was having a hard time, so we toured a multiple other places to look for alternatives all across MB and El Segundo.
