Everytime a student driver made even the slightest of mistakes the head guy/owner of SB would yell so loud that his face would turn red. He made my entire experience horrible and I paid $10k! Everything he said and told us to do and not do was lead with intimidation and anger and threats....wasn't encouraging or helpful at all. Seemed like most of the instructors were also scared of him so they didn't encourage us to improve. I asked my instructor about him and he said yeah we are all scared to do something wrong. What a horrible way to run a business! I would've done more f4 classes but not here, EVER! There are much better run race classes. Run from Skip Barber and never look back!!

We started 25 minutes late. The staff seemed like it was their first day there. Skip Barber describes their courses as "lead and follow". Let me describe that for you. The instructor leads and you follow. This is not a bad concept as long as the lead car is capable of the same speed as the student. The "lead" car on the day of my session was a completely stock Toyota Camry. If that sounds bad, it was. Now add 4 students in the "lead" car every session receiving "instruction" while you are driving a car capable of 150 mph and the result is a lap speed of well under 70 MPH. The same lap car was used for all cars that day. Therefore, Formula 4 cars and GT cars were restricted to the same speed behind the lap car. If driving an exceptional car well below it's potential is appealing to you, I highly recommend Skip Barber.

I have been driving 35 years and it was instructive to me (we all might benefit from a refresher!). Bobby was patient, calm but firm, and the course was well planned to slowly increase the driving difficulty and put the learner in different situations in a safe manner. Can't say enough. 10 stars out of 5.

Bill was very realistic and upfront at the start, that I would learn how to get feom point A to point B, but it might not be pretty! By the end of the lesson, I felt reasonably confident in my newfound skill. Bill gave me the Zen-like attitude and skills necessary to instantly recognize what was going on whenever the car did not respond as intended, and to take emotions out of the problem-solving process. These things can be so hard when you inevitably stall and anger other drivers---something everybody does when learning to drive a manual. A few weeks after my lesson, I ended up going on a fun drive through the European countryside to a destination not easily reachable by public transit. The guy at the rental counter, seeing I was American, tried to give me an automatic and I had to correct him. I did stall a few times, including while inching forward in highway traffic, and was able to stay cool and collected. As promised, I got from Point A to Point B! Someday, I want my next car to be something sporty with a stick shift. I am most impressed by the psychological skills Bill taught me in this context. These aren't skills I would have learned from simply asking a friend or parent to teach me. If I had teens, I would absolutely want Bill to teach them the driving skills that *will* save their life--a purpose he is passionate about from his previous job as a cop. Thanks Bill for teaching me a skill I will enjoy for years to come!

Bucket list birthday surprise delivered--spectacularly!…read more I surprised my wife with the One-Day Formula Racing Experience at Allen Berg Racing Schools at Laguna Seca--a lifelong dream of hers--and the entire day far exceeded both our expectations. From a spectator's point of view, the entire program was impressively organized, professional, and welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home, and it was clear from the start that we were in the hands of true pros. But the real highlight? Watching my wife absolutely light up out on the track. This wasn't some sanitized, watered-down driving experience. She was behind the wheel of a real open-wheel formula car, getting coached, pushing limits, and carving through the iconic Corkscrew like a natural. The instructors were outstanding--encouraging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about helping each driver maximize their potential. It was thrilling to see her come off the track beaming with adrenaline and joy after each session. This wasn't just a driving school--it was a dream fulfilled. If you have someone in your life who's even remotely interested in motorsports, Allen Berg Racing Schools is the ultimate gift. We'll be talking about this experience for years.

My husband gifted me with the one day experience. My only experience with racing has been watching F1. Allen was there all day along with his top notch staff. The entire staff is so patient and gracious and make the experience a total blast. Driving my #12 car was an adrenaline rush. If you're on the fence about attending just take the leap and do it; you won't regret it!

After 56 years of not driving I decided to get my license. I researched a lot of driving schools in…read morethe Santa Cruz County area and I felt comfortable with Sterling Driving School. I spoke to a gentleman named Micheal who was very nice and understood that I was nervous. Micheal was very accommodating with me. He assigned me my driving instructor who's name is Stewart. Now I can tell you how nervous I was but unless you saw me the first time you wouldn't understand how nervous I was. Getting in the car the first time with Stewart I was very nervous and he understood that. So he drove us to a large parking lot to get used to the car. After about 20 minutes he said let's drive the streets. To be honest I wasn't scared at all because Stewart made me feel very comfortable, he understood how nervous I was and made it fun.By the end of our lesson I was driving the streets and felt very comfortable, I drove all the way home. I was so excited that I had overcome my my fear of driving in just one session. when I got home I asked my roommate if we could take a little drive. My roommate tried to teach me before in her car but I was quite nervous and ended up not driving.I got in the car and we drove around she was so impressed and asked me where her friend went, you know, that one that was so afraid of driving. I had about 3 to 4 more lessons with Stewart and each one of them was great. I learned so much like little secrets and little acronyms on remembering what I needed to do for certain situations while I was driving. I was very grateful that Sterling Driving School was able to place me with the same instructor, Stewart to help me with the rest of my driving lessons. On the day of my test Stewarts reminded me of some important things that needed to be remembered .So I really wasn't surprised when the DMV driving instructor asked me the first five questions and they were the same first five questions that Stewart asked me. Needless to say I passed the test!!!!! Woohoo Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!! Here I am a 56-year-old woman who was afraid of driving all of her life and now has a California drivers license. I will never know how to repay Stewart and Micheal but I do know that they've made this woman very happy. Happy enough to yelp and to let everybody know that is interested in a driving school that Sterling Driving School is the best!! You won't regret it!!

From my initial conversation with Audry, Sterling's receptionist, I knew that this was an experienced, competent driving school. He explains the driving rules: the why and how to accomplish them. He helped me calm my anxiety, too. All in all, it was a great experience and I passed my test :).
