They completed repairs (both mechanically and cosmetically) quickly. They even completed the trips between my Marina and their Service Bay. We took it back to Clearwater Marine and they tried to accuse us of laying the motor on the wrong side, even though it was THEIR guy who put it in the back of our truck, and it has been mounted on the boat the rest of the time. Supposedly they fixed it, and then when we turned it on to troll for fish the other day, it leaked again. Took it back again, and it turned out to be a missing gasket in the fuel pump!! They blamed it on the factory, which doesn't make me want to trust this motor. They do not stand behind the product they sell and supposedly service, they tried to blame us for something that absolutely wasn't the case, and when I said I would try it out and bring it back if it still leaked, the manager told me to bring it to another store, they wouldn't take it. On top of that, when I tried to register the motor with Mercury when I first bought it, it turned out it had been registered to someone else. So I paid for a brand new motor, but obviously it wasn't brand new. So, buyer beware.

Walked in, it's fairly small as fly shops go, but they had a good selection of flies (dry flies, nymphs, streamers, and even a few saltwater fiies), plus a variety of fly tying materials for those who want to tie their own. I talked to the two young guys running the shop and got some good information on fly fishing for my next trip out to the Bellingham area. The folks at San Juan think of everything, and unlike the global charter conglomerates it's a decades old stand alone Bellingham WA professional boat chartering operation with the principals involved in the day to day guest experience operation-managing a super friendly and over the top customer service oriented staff. They all appear to really like their jobs! They also run these "flotillas" where a pro skipper takes a lead boat with some stateroom guests, plans a whole week or longer itinerary for 10 or so boats to cruise around to anchorages and marinas- in San Juan's plus many go further to Canada overnights. Great way to get introduced to sailing the local waters. You can focus on the navigating and sailing/boating and someone's already got the stops, attractions perfectly planned, plus you meet some great people with you on other boats when you dock up or moor/anchor together. You are likely to see orcas, porpoises, sea lions, harbor seals and otters. Of course bald eagles, herons and all manner of waterfowl. Get your WA shellfish license if you want to drop a pot (on the boats standard) and get some Dungeness crabs to steam up and feast on. I went on one flotilla with furthest stop Princess Luisa Sound two days north of Vancouver (May 2023) whole trip from and back to Bellingham was 10 days. We lucked out with fabulous weather so I'm almost hesitant to tell people about it because it was so incredibly stunning and enjoyable. Secret I probably should keep. All the boats are professionally maintained and the fleet is mostly new or near new and perfectly outfitted for the experience- highly recommend. Full disclosure I own one of the boats (but still a "customer" of the San Juan Sailing experience) basically just a "perfect for me" way to immerse into new sailing grounds (I'm formerly an east coast and Caribbean boater) My wife (who is the consummate fair weather sailor plus food/cocktail steward) and I love the luxe experience of taking our own boat out as "charter guests." No "boat clutter" like used to develop on my old boat. All the cleaning and linens, galley outfitting taken care of. Just show up with food and bev! Fair winds‍

They asked if we had any questions or needed help. Since we did not, they just let us do our thing. I liked that. It gets intimidating having people always watching you or floating around if you do not want it. We did see them answering questions and helping people who requested it, so if you are nervous or in need of assistance they will happily help you out. There were also life jackets, wet suits, and even dry bags available for rental in addition to the equipment (canoes, paddle boards, sail boats). You reserve a slot and off you go to launch from their nice ramp, which is also open to the public. I definitely recommend wearing flip flops or water shoes. I am not from the area, so did not know what to expect. It was a bit rocky in some areas so I was glad to not be launching barefoot. The staff we had that day were fantastic. They were very nice and many of them very experienced and helpful. My friend told me they were also all volunteers. They do have a tip jar for their assistance though, so be sure to bring some cash to support them! All around great experience and I highly recommend if you are in the area looking for something fun to do!

Apparently, they also do a lot of home theater installations in King County so consider them also for home theater installations if you're also speaking with the usual home theater companies in King County. I can recommend Reference Media from two perspectives: 1. They can put together a good sounding system: Believe it or not. stores that carry expensive audio equipment aren't always good at creating systems that sound good. I listened to the Acoustic Signature turntable in their main listening room and it sounded more veiled than I would have expected. The owner knew right away that it was the Pro-ject phono amp that was causing that veiling. To his credit, switching to a digital source through the same system showed that was the case as the same system immediately started sounding pretty epic. 2. They carry a lot of less common audio brands. What initially motivated me to visit Reference Media was that they were a Nottingham Analogue turntable dealer. I've been researching options to upgrade my turntable which has a power supply that is probably overdue to fail. In addition, they also carry Gold Note & Boulder. Though these are more esoteric brands, I would encourage you to visit them even if you have a more reasonable budget. They also carry more mainstream audio brands such as Rega, Marantz, and NAD. I believe a good proportion of their clientele comes from Western Washington University and I am confident that they can put together a great sounding system at more reasonable price points.

I have been using Leepers service for the past 5 years to store our boats. After downsizing to a…read moresmall boat, I looked for a place to store our boat during the winter and chose Leeper's. A small family owned business, which is always my preference. There were always some hiccups. One year I was charged twice for storage, another year a part was removed that was never placed back in so I had to pull the boat out of the water right after putting it in and drive a four hour round trip back to Leeper's. Another year was charged for cleaning and get home to realize it was not cleaned, yet had been charged for. In every instance, the people were so apologetic and kind that I always scratched it up to human mistake. Especially when I had to pull the boat out and drive it back. This year, I was very sad to hear of the owner passing away, Our timeframe to pick up to the boat this year was April. When dropping the boat off for storage earlier I had asked for the carburetor to be checked since the boat was not performing well. Leeper's agreed and later informed me that it will need to be fixed. I gave the go ahead. Come April, I emailed them to pick up the boat within a few days. I received a response that they will remove the boat from storage when they could since there were many other boats blocking ours. They told us they can not de-winterize the boat because they did not have enough time. No problem. We made the drive to pick up the boat. The Spring hours stated a closing hour of 5:30. On the way we encountered an accident and traffic was stop and go. Our ETA was 5pm which was half an hour before closing. We still called Leeper's four times and left a message that we were indeed going to be there well before closing and to just inform them that we were still coming. We get there at 5 with the gentleman in his car at the gate about to close. 30mnts before closing time. We were fortunate to get there when we did because otherwise we had to wait another two days for Monday. Another four hours, minimum, round trip drive. The boat was not covered, and our trailer's license plate was somehow missing! but we picked it up and headed home. Once home I went to check the boat before putting it in the water. Come to realize the carburetor is MISSING. Contacted Leeper's. Was informed that the carburetor was sent out six months ago and they had not gotten it back etc etc. When asked as to why this was not told to me before going all the way there and picking up the boat, we were told some story about how they forgot to put it in the paperwork etc. Normally this would have enraged me. Yet again, I had to make another four hour trip. However, given the whole Covid issue and the fact that the owner had passed I decided to let it go. A lot of back and forth and finally the carburetor had arrived at the facility. I asked if they could work on the boat while I waited in Bellingham so I could drive it back the same day. They agreed. Borrowed a vehicle, took the day off work, and drove back. Boat was ready by noon. When it came time to pay the invoice I inquired if he would maybe consider a small discount given all the trouble I had to go through. His response was that no, and he doesn't not want to store my boat any longer because I am a 'difficult' customer. My jaw was literally on the ground. Don't give me a discount, thats ok, but do not gaslight me. I had been nothing but understanding throughout the years to support this business and this is the treatment I received. No good deed goes unpunished. So sad that this business has fallen into hands that will surely be the ruining of it.
