I usually never post on here unless its was a really bad experience in order to help others avoid the mistakes i went through. Started going to school here for my private pilot license about a year ago. 80 hours in and still no solo. Instructors will take you on your cross country flights just to build their hours. They do not care about their students success. I let it go on for too long, 18k later i finally decided to go to another school. I started the new school and within a month im ready for my solo..... goes to show the difference in schools and their CFI's. Ground lessons were useless... instructors will just talk within themselves and still charge you the full 2 hours. Not to mention their ground instructions are completely unorganized. Made me purchase their syllabus and not ONCE did we open it or follow it within that year. Total waste of time and money. read more

We bought a VIP package for my mom to go up on her 90th birthday. I spoke with Pacific Skies ahead of time and explained that my mom had never taken formal flying lessons, but that she loves all things aviation related. She doesn't plan on getting her license at this point, but she is extremely knowledgeable about what goes on in the cockpit. I cannot recommend PSA enough for flight training. Management - Reza, the owner, walked me through the training process, what to expect based on my goals, and worked with me to coordinate training based on my schedule. He is a busy guy but always made time to return my call or ensure I got the info I needed. Instruction - Vini is the best! His training style is perfect: calm, knowledgeable, and growth focused. Vini communicates his instructions in a clear and easy to understand manner. He doesn't get upset, irritated, or impatient. Vini gives as much knowledge as he can without being overwhelming. Vini really does understand all concepts related to flight and if he doesn't, he knows where to check and will make sure you get the answers you're looking for. Any questions I had were answered and in a way that I was able to understand and apply. Lastly, and most importantly, Vini remembers where you are, what you're working on, what you're great at, and what the next steps are. Vini is totally focused on improving your flight skills without being redundant. Planes - For the discovery flight I was in the 172, which was great, but to save costs I'm training in the 152. The 152's are clean, well maintained and durable. These planes are older than me and are in great shape, nothing broken or tearing apart. The 152 is fun to fly and easy once you understand the controls and gauges. Other instructors - One of the big things about PSA is the ability to switch to a different instructor if you feel like you need a different perspective. At times I've flown with Minfei and Cornell and both have been able to offer me new insights in to landings, or traffic control communications that set off light bulbs in my head. It's really a huge bonus to be able to obtain knowledge from multiple instructors. Overall everyone is super nice, knowledgeable and free of judgement. It's a great setting to learn how to fly. read more

I can't say enough good about my experience with Pacific Skies. I did a VIP discovery Flight that my wife got me for my birthday. I always wanted to experience flying and explore the possibility of obtaining my private pilots license. Rae was my flight instructor. She was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond to make sure I got a great experience and provided additional knowledge to help me continue my quest. While I sadly will not be continuing my flight training at Pacific Skies Aviation due to the distance, I would highly recommend it to anybody interested in flying! I got my wife a once in a lifetime flying experience for her 45th birthday. The process wasn't seamless but that was mostly due to lack of follow up on my part. I recently took to the skies with Pacific Skies Aviation in a Cessna 172 with my instructor Michael as part of their Discovery Flight package. I had always been interested in trying my hand at flying and I immediately started asking a lot of questions. Michael was patient and encouraging throughout the session, not only answering my questions in detail but also demonstrating some more advanced concepts and skills. I felt safe throughout the flight while also feeling like I was given the chance to take the controls in my hands for a portion of the flight. What an awesome gift idea this was! My girlfriend bought me a 2 hour flying lesson as a Christmas gift, and boy was it an experience! Going into your first lesson not knowing anything about flying would give anyone at least a mild scare. But all that worry quickly dissipated as soon as Jared, our pilot guide, taught us everything step by step. Between all the buttons and the gauges inside of the plane, it can be very intimidating. But Jared managed to teach only the necessary things first so we weren't overwhelmed. You really get the full experience of flying a plane. Everything from taking off to landing is thoroughly taught to you. I would most definitely take more flying lessons here! read more

Great place to rent from, very convenient, location, scheduling and availability. What I like about this place, you don't need to talk to anyone, schedule it online, keys are available 24 hours in the safe box hanging from the plane. Really Nice people to from their CFI's to the CEO :) I have been renting their G1000 N2030C, looks like they don't have it anymore but they're still the best. When people with no flight experience walk into a flight school for the first time, Pacific Skies is exactly what they want. Friendly, helpful, down to earth faces, professional, clean learning environment, and a fleet that if I told you about you wouldn't believe it was a flight school. It does't look like they want business. Poor customer services. They don't even return a call. My son called them TWICE in the past 2 weeks and spoke with a female staff. He told her he had questions about the discovery flight package. She took my son's number and told him someone will call him to answer the questions. (She didn't ask him what the question was.) No one called him back. When this happens twice, it tells me this company is lacking basic customer service skills. I don't want to deal with this type of company, especially for my son's flight tour or flight school experiences. I will bring my business somewhere else. read more

I got this as a gift for a family member when they visited me in LA. It was their first time flying a plane and they loved the experience! They even joked about switching careers to a pilot. We flew with Jon and he was great. Loved his sense of humor and his hospitality. I've been on a few discovery flights before and I heard so much more information from Jon than from all the other instructors I've flown with before at other places. We had a tight schedule and wanted to do a 7am flight on a Monday and Jon graciously accommodated us. Overall, I'd highly recommend Pacific Skies Aviation and specifically Jon for an instructor. If only I had the time and patience to sit through traffic all the way to Torrance from where I live, I would get my private pilot license from here. read more

Last Sunday I faced The Adventure of Flight. I was nervous and thrilled as I sat on the patio waiting for my trainer Reza. Pacific Skies operates out of a beautiful airport with mountain and city views as far as the eye can see. When Reza showed up he radiated a trustworthy energy and attitude that put us at ease. He took us up and trusted me to fly the plane a good 98% of the time we were in the air - including take off and landing. What an INCREDIBLE THRILL. My view of the universe is changed forever and I will never forget this day. We laughed, learned, luvved and had the time of our lives. My friend and I did an introductory flight lesson with Dan yesterday and it was awesome! Dan was super nice and I learned a lot from him in a short period of time. It was my first time flying, but I got to taxi, take off, fly and land the plane. I know that sounds like a lot for a first-time flyer to do, but Dan was such a good instructor that I was able to do all of it (fairly) competently. We flew a Cessna 172 that was in great shape. I plan on getting my private pilot's license and I hope I can do as many of my instructor-led flight hours with Dan. That said, if the rest of the instructors there are as friendly and knowledgable as him, I should be in good hands! read more

Like many, I've been interested in flying since childhood, but in the past year I've begun to really geek out on aviation. Learning to fly has become a bit of an obsession for me, but a relative lack of time and money have kept me on the ground. Finally though, after reading everything I could find about the mechanics and procedures of piloting an airplane, I took the plunge and scheduled an intro flight with Pacific Skies Aviation. I chose PSA because of the location at Zamperini Field, an excellent GA facility situated at the base of the Palos Verdes peninsula and just 5 minutes from the local practice area. It's a modern, towered airport close to the complex LAX airspace, but not so busy to be intimidating for first-timers like me. You can expect to go from parking your car to being airborne within a few minutes, which makes a big difference when you're trying to squeeze lessons into a busy schedule. I was lucky enough to work with Reza during my intro flight, who is super friendly, knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to make sure your flying experience is a memorable one. I recommend asking for him by name. Even though I'd done a ton of research before my first flight, I wasn't totally sure what to expect and he made sure I was comfortable from the outset. He'll tailor the flight to your level of knowledge and and confidence. I couldn't believe he let me have the controls the entire time, INCLUDING landing. He even let me make a few radio calls to air traffic control when approaching the intense LAX airspace. Amazing! We went from the beautiful PV coastline to the Long Beach Harbor, north over LAX and Santa Monica, then east along the Hollywood hills and a couple laps around downtown before heading back to Torrance. The sightseeing alone was nothing short of incredible. If you've considered starting flight training, or would just like to experience the spectacular scenery of SoCal from the air, I highly recommend giving PSA a call. read more

PSA is unquestionably the most professional, safest, and most experienced flight school in Southern California. I started with earning my private pilots license, am currently working on my instrument rating, and will finish with my multi-engine and commercial ratings. They make it fun to fly and do everything in their power to ensure you have fun safely. Reza is a former commercial pilot who started the school out of his love for teaching, and hires like-minded CFI's. For my birthday my wife decided to give me a different present. Not the usual piece of electronics, gift card, etc. She handed me an envelope and inside was a certificate for a Discovery Flight package from Pacific Skies Aviation. I couldn't have been more thrilled and excited. She knew I have always wanted to get a pilots license and be able to fly a plane but could not afford it. This was the next best thing. The Discovery Flight package was a hands on flight around LA. I did not find out how hands on until I got there. The day of my Flight I met Reza at the main terminal at Zamperini Field in Torrance. He was extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable. As a part of the package you could bring someone with, my wife couldn't come so I brought a friend. We started with a 45 minute tour of the plane, instruments and controls after which he ended with, ' these are the main instruments to focus on while you are flying.' Excuse me, while I am flying? Did not know I was in the pilots seat handling the yoke, and throttle. I got nervous since the closest I have been to flying a plane was a game on the xbox. From takeoff and landing I was doing alot of the flying with Reza handling the radio calls, controlling the rudder and tighting up turns if I was oversteering. He did a fantastic job directing me what to do and making me feel confident. After a few minutes I felt relaxed and enjoyed all of the one hour flight flying around Palos Verdes, Downtown Long Beach and Long Beach Harbor, LAX, and Santa Monica. By the end my friend was speechless at the experience and I think he is going to buy a package and I am going to take in all the sites in the back. Have to say it was one of the best presents ever! Reza was great to fly with and we had an amazing time. Anyone who is interested in flying should definitely give them a call and try them out!! read more
