The used section in the back is especially worth checking out, with hardcovers priced at two dollars and paperbacks at just one dollar. The owner is a solid guy. Very helpful and happy to special order anything you might be looking for. That kind of service is hard to come by these days and really makes a difference. Parking is on the street, but I had no problem finding a spot. The store's in a walkable area surrounded by local cafes, antique shops, and restaurants. You're also just a short stroll from the coastline and the pier, which makes this an even better stop if you're looking to spend a laid-back day in town. I really enjoy places like this. It's the kind of bookstore that feels real and personal, and I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area.

New year. New visit to the Burlingame Public library on primrose Avenue in Burlingame, California…read more Today's treat was one of their swap days. Today's swap day revolved around games and puzzles. Picked up a couple of puzzles from a family members, and the children of my friends. Separate from that. Spent some time in the computer lab. Working on some stuff. They have some decently new Macintosh systems to work on. Not my native OS normally. But I like it. I like the fact that they have both windows and Mac and tosh systems. In the end. I don't care because I'm operating system agnostic, and welcome the experience on just about every operating system you can imagine.. The maker lab at this library is also excellent . Environmentally it's hard to go wrong with a visit to the Burlingame Public library. It's a beautiful building inside and out.

The collection is managed by the San Mateo County Public Library system. Many recently published books. Not an extensive collection. Also books are not labeled with either the Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress catalogue system. Books are shelved by general groups. It almost feels more like a bookstore than a library! I feel like a dinosaur. The Burlingame Public Library is more like a traditional Carnegie library. Graceful old building (that was totally rebuilt after Loma Prieta earthquake) with oak furniture and leather upholstery. It also has older books in its collection.
