Linda Mar Beach is unlike anywhere else. They have the only Taco Bell located on the beach! So cool! And they always have surfers out in the water. This beachfront is made just for surfers, the water break off is not like the mavericks. It's great for people learning how to surf. If you are like me and like to just watch people, this is why Linda Mar is awesome, you plop yourself on the sand and watch away. Parking is sucky and now they charge for parking...boo! To my knowledge this is the only beach in the world with a Taco Bell on it. I've been going to this beach since I was a kid. It's still one of my favorite places in the world. I'm quite biased but I have family that owns parts of the docks. We have had a few day long holiday parties there. On the dock side there used to be emus that my uncle had raised. Unfortunately the dogs got at them. My uncle still does have the llamas up and over by the dock side. This beach is not a touristy beach as much as it's more a surfer's beach (who don't want to drive down the coast). The weather about half the time can be a bit foggy and can be cold. The water can be frigid compared to San Diego water but that's what I love about it! Every few weeks I jog the beach in either the early morning to see the sunrise or in the evening to watch the sunset. It's really such a majestic sight as you peer into the horizon and see the sun fading behind the cliffs surrounding this beach. The colors are fantastic around either time but the sunsets here are truly beautiful. This beach has a great trail that connects it to Rockaway beach as well. Which also has some great trails that can take you right along the coastline of Pacifica. The trail has been developed a lot over the years which has made this trail even more seamless. read more

Pacifica Beach is definitely our go to for a nice relaxing clean Beach. Close to a shopping center for snacks and food to take with us. You do have to pay for parking but pricing is reasonable. Around $7. I've been to a few beaches in San Francisco area and this is by far our favorite. During COVID, everyone here was pretty spread out and respectable of space. read more

Linda Mar is a nice long beach with enough space to hang out when the weather in Pacifica is decent. It's a pretty easy surfing spot thus it is often too crowded out in the waves. There is a nice parking lot with outside showers to wash yourself down. My biggest gripe besides being often overly crowded out in the surf is the fact that the city of Pacifica charges to park with only 2 options, $4 for 4 hours and $8 for all day. Thus if you want to hang for an hour to see what the scene is and decide if it's worth staying you have to pay for 4 hours parking. That's a rip off read more

This is one of my favorite beaches in Pacifica, not only because it's closest to the Beach House Taco Bell, but because it's beautiful and great for people watching and surfers alike. Its a great place for visitors to come and experience the beach life. It's safe with plenty of beach and surf for everyone to play in. There is always plenty of people on the beach so you never have to feel alone or have to worry about anything. One of the best things about this beach, is the great Beach House Taco Bell. It is literally located right there; you can walk up in your sandy feet and order from their take out window and than eat your Taco Bell back on your beach towel, how cool is that! I've even been told that you can take surf and stand up paddle board lessons here, but haven't experienced that yet. All in all, this is a great all rounded beach with public flush-able restrooms. I won't guarantee they will always be clean, but at least they flush! read more

Freezing cold water. Even in a wetsuit in the summer. I tried surfing here (more like paddle boarding in the shallow waves) for the first time. I didn't enjoy it too much because the water was salty and sharks are terrifying. However, it grew on me. Now I wish that I could surf again but it's raining and probably a lot colder now. Maybe next summer. Or I'll have to travel to SoCal soon just to surf. read more

What a great beach to surfers-watching! The husband of a friend had the difficult task to decide whether to stay in a SF hotel during a week for a work conference or rent a house just by this wonderful beach for cheaper price. Needless to say the decision made herself! And here I go, my first time going there with the excuse of visit them for the day. A sun soaked Sunday, who would say from this piece of land (or sea)! Very warm and nice Sunday with BBQ included (from the house) watching the surfers do their pirouettes on their boards. I will definitely come back if not to swim to do some hiking and contemplate a sunset. Very beautiful. read more

Absolutely love this little space! Whether it's grabbing a parking spot and watching the sunset or going out for a little splash, I'm always pleased. It does get a bit busy on the beach and in the water, as one would expect from a great location. You'll see plenty of learner surfers and a good chunk of regulars in the ocean. I've never felt like anyone was rude or intimidating in the water. The south side of the water is where most of the surf action appears to be. The center can provide good surf (I usually reference that between the Taco Bell and the bathrooms) but just be weary of a rock patch heading in. You'll stub your toes a few times here and there. It comes with the territory though! The north side gets a little choppier but I've actually had a good amount of fun just trying to stay in control! Overall low risk in the ocean with a high reward. The beach is clean and perfect for your lovely doggos. They have bathrooms which I've found to be nice and clean and the Taco Bell is just a unique experience. Lastly, bring a light jacket if you're just lounging on the sand, it gets a bit brisk. Also, make sure to respect and enjoy the lovely piece of nature we're so lucky to have in our backyard!! A very beautiful and lovely beach in Pacifica! I had the chance to walk up and down the shores on a foggy day (probably be nicer if it was sunny) and it was somewhat windy but the views of the Pacific Ocean and coasts were definitely worth it. Of course, if you really need something to eat and drink, there's a Taco Bell on the south side of the beach and right across Highway 1 is a Safeway and various smaller shops. read more

This is a nice beach to relax and watch all the surfers tackle the wave! There is plenty of parking, and it cost $4 for 4 hours. There are also restrooms next to the parking lot. Disclaimer: I do not think any beach in Norcal is worthy of a 5-star just cause of how unpredictable the weather in Norcal is, and also how inappropriate Norcal is for beach weather overall. Came here with my church group a few times and I think it's a pretty good representation of what beaches are like here in Norcal. During the afternoon, the place can get pretty sunny but it always seems to be windy. The water I wouldn't exactly swim in because of how cold it is. My group came here to camp fire and play games and this beach is prefect for both. The beach is pretty clear of driftwood, seaweed, and other stuff that sometimes washes up so running around and playing games is definitely enjoyable. At one side of the beach, there is a volleyball net that you can play on. One critique of mine is that there's no public restroom in the area, so make sure you plan accordingly, especially if you are driving here from a long distance away. I would definitely recommend coming to this beach if you haven't before. Unlike some of Norcal's other beaches, Pacifica's beach doesn't require you to scale the face of a cliff to find your way to the sand. read more

This beach is super chill and somewhat more scenic compared to Ocean Beach! The wind kills you'll get over it! Also, be prepared by grabbing a jacket, something to do at the beach, some speakers, and some food to eat! We ended up getting a burrito from the tacqueria next to Grocery Outlet and it was the best decidion of the day! read more

This is why we live here, people. Yeah, the summer fog sucks, but there's nothing like being able let your pup romp on the beach with the chill surfers on Christmas Eve. Parking is easy, there's rarely a crowd and it's the kind of place you can just do your thing, whether that's reading, building sand castles, or noshing on Taco Bell if you dare (maybe this is where they find the rumored sand for their meat) Just watch out for dead birds and other detritus that your furry friends will find fascinating...take it from a pro, the smell is worse than skunk and just as hard to remove. Bring the camera...lots of possibilities from the waves hitting the rocks on one end to houses on the bluffs on the other. When it's fog-free, the mountains behind the beach are stunning. read more

Views are okay and the weather is also very overcast.... with no so white sand. I didn't get to experience it this time but apparently you can also try paragliding and go surfing here! Pacifica State Beach? No. This is Taco Bell Beach and there's no convincing me otherwise. What other beach can you go to where there is nothing but a beach, some bathrooms, and a single stand alone Taco Bell right on the sand. It's as if our heavenly father went wind surfing in my mind and transformed this dream into a reality just for me. Eating a cheesy gordita crunch in a bikini in the hot blistering California sun? Yes. Sign me up, 100%, all the way, that is my jam. In fact, before my visit to Pacifica State Beach I didn't believe in any of that God hullabaloo, but NOW... well, let's just say that my God is a gordita loving God. Amen. So besides this miracle beach-side Taco Bell the beach is pretty clean, at least in comparison to most other beaches I've been to. The people during the week are super chill and on the weekend people tend to get a little more showy... specifically the very young tweens in practically thong bikinis jumping up and down in the water. I'm totally fine with them doing it and I know the hobos pitching tents just up the beach from me were, too, but it might not be for everyone. On nice weathered weekends there are a lot of kids here (which is fine, it's a beach, it's a fun place to go, obvi) but whether they're of crawling age or throwing sand at seagulls age, they're all largely unsupervised and many of them quite nude, which I guess is acceptable here but I gotta say that there are very few things that make me more uncomfortable than a small child's wiener bouncing around so close to my beach blanket. First, it looks like white baby asparagus so that's a food that's now been ruined for me, and Second, because I (am not, but I) could potentially be a total perv and these parents just lay back and take a nap while their completely naked kids run up and down the beach with their little doodle flying all over the place and all these strangers just staring on. I saw a little naked boy run up to this woman who clearly not his mom by look of confusion on her face and just totally grind up, and latch on to her leg with a bear hug and then start peeing... on her leg! It was both awkward and hilarious, and I'm forever grateful that it wasn't me. Parking during the week is pretty easy with a lot right by the T-bell and another just across the 101, but on the weekends you'll have to do a bit of searching. I usually drive just past the Safeway into this really quite, sunny residential area with free street parking and then walk about 8-minutes down to the beach. If you're getting beach snacks, the leaf grocery store off the 101 is way better than the Safeway. There is a building with bathrooms on this beach and while I have yet to use them, I've heard they're about what you'd expect from a Guantanamo Bay prison bathroom, so if you can, either hold it or go in nature's toilet bowl, the ocean. read more

What a great beach! My good friend was going to surfing at Linda Mar beach and he asked if I wanted to surf. I don't have a surfboard or a wet suit so I said I would watch. I drove my blue Miata across the bay bridge with the top down on this sunny December day...are you envious so far. Across Highway 280 down to Highway One on the outskirts of Pacifica. The sand is not of the Hawaii quality but it was still smooth. This beach is perfect to bring your friends, family and your dogs. Yes bring your little and big monsters. For the surfers, Linda Mar has waves for beginners and intermediates to hone their skills. The water is a little cold without a wet suit, for the brave only. There was plenty of parking and it was only $3.00 for four hours. If you get hungry there is a Taco Bell along the beach, I could not believe it. I was going to settle for some potato chips from the gas station mini mart but decided on a Nachos Grande from Taco Bell. Who doesn't love the beach in December. read more

With all the gorgeous weather we've been having, why not go to the beach? Santa Cruz is beautiful, but kinda far away. Ocean Beach is usually pretty foggy. And Baker Beach is... well... Baker Beach. Pacifica State Beach was perfect - like the Goldilocks of beaches - last Saturday. The sun was bright and the sand was warm! It was hot enough to have worn a swimsuit out there. Unfortunately, I just had on a pair of jorts and a t-shirt. But I was still able to catch some rays while my favorite +1 took to the waves. The best part about going to the beach? Getting food after that. The nicest Taco Bell ever is just steps away, although we didn't go here. There's also a shopping center across the highway, with a grocery store and several restaurants, including an L&L Barbeque. I'm becoming a big fan of Half Moon Bay and Pacifica - what's not to like about both of these areas? read more

This beach could be great but this would require some changes. The beach needs money so that it can be cleaned up, groomed and there needs to be more enforcement on those individuals with dogs who just don't give a sh*t about picking up after their dogs. Pacifica needs to start charging money to non-residents by have parking meters in all the lots and streets near the beach. Residents would have a sticker exempting them from paying a a meter. I am that weirdo whom frequents beaches during the winter months. Hoodies, sandals, hot coffee and loving company is all I need. I love to come here in February. I like the gloominess, the freezing Pacific water, and especially the Taco Bell... Right.On.The.Beach... but that's for another review. Man, there's like 4 different Yelp entries for this beach, both as Linda Mar and under its official name, Pacifica State Beach. I was tempted to just create a new entry for "Taco Bell Beach", but I'll be good and file my review here. This crescent-shaped beach, framed by headlands and backed by the scenic San Pedro valley (and the less scenic Linda Mar shopping center), is definitely the most popular in Pacifica. A little too popular during heat waves, as I found out. The parking lots are not built for serious crowds, but we were able to nab one of the last remaining spaces over by Nona's. But even the beach itself was so full there was hardly a dry spot left to lay down, and there must have been a hundred surfers floating in the water. Anyway, as a non-surfing sand-stroller I'm not entirely sold on this spot. It doesn't offer much you can't get at Ocean Beach or Fort Funston, and if you truly want to get away from it all, you'll need to go farther down the coast. Perhaps this beach is more iconic in the fog--I'd love to do a misty hike from here over to Rockaway Beach, Mori Point and Sharp Park sometime. read more

My first experience surfing in California was today! I have surfed before in Hawaii but never here, in the cold ass California beaches. This meant, my first time in a wetsuit also today!! GOD They are so DAMMN HARD to put on! I thoroughly enjoyed driving down the coast on Highway 1 today, and seeing the view. It was beautiful and sunny. The fog didn't kick in until around 2:30pm, thank god! I give this surfing beach a 4 stars since I don't have another to compare to yet! I enjoyed the surfing environment. So many surfers out there, from beginners to pros, from boogie boards to long boards. The walk-in Taco Bell on the beach is pretty awesome too. It doesn't look like your average fast food joint from the outside. It looks like those local beach snack shacks you would expect to hang out at. The beach is clean and the sand is smooth on your feet. Beware of random sea creatures you might step on! A little girl stepped on a crab and was successful at reviving it back on its feet! Definitely bring a blanket just in case! Pacifica, in general, is known for the fog!!!! read more

Love this beach! Easy to get to, short drive from the city, always room to park in the parking lot, even on busier days/weekends, and there's a Safeway close by to help make a beach day even better with food, snacks, and drinks. There are always people surfing, swimming, playing games, relaxing, and so much more. It's a free public beach and I adore it. It's in a small little cove and either this is how it is every time, or we've just gotten lucky, but the fog seems to stay out of it and just surrounds it. Phew! It's definitely one of my favorite spots to hang out on the coast around the Bay area on a whim. It's great for children, pets, families, or even come alone and just relax by the ocean. It's so soothing. ps: If you find a really awesome tungsten men's wedding band in the sand, please let me know, as the beach/ocean stole it from my hubby not long ago and we'd love to have it returned. The beach is located off Highway 1 in downtown Pacifica. From San Francisco: Highway 1 South - Exit Paloma/Francisco Blvd. From Half Moon Bay: Take Highway 1 North - Exit Oceana Blvd The kids and I love to hang out at this beach. Many friendly surfers are always around excited about teaching the hard sport. My kids love to bring their boogie boards to body surf against the waves. Even my dogs love to hang out on this clean beach. Great sand castles can be made and if you and the kids wear your wet suits, the water is actually not that cold! There is some bathrooms and cold showers available to the public. There is also a Taco Bell on the beach if you get hungry. I haven't tried it out yet...I'll let you know when I do. If your child has to do a mission report then you and the family can make a day of it by visiting the San Francisco de Ass (Mission Dolores) and then enjoying this beach! I will give a review of the Mission Delores later...but for now I will just say that it is a beautiful mission. read more

I remember loading up the cooler and 'gathering firewood' from the safeway across the street. Ah and who could forget the tacobell beach side. After talking to a woman in one of the longest days ever (way too long of a story) she said that after living in Pacifica for her entire life, locals in the water get pissed off because the waves are crowded while people rush and steal them. I love this place! The waves are amazing to watch, and the meadows and trees allow for the perfect place for a private picnic to enjoy the scenery! This beach is so much better than Ocean beach, which is always crowded with hipsters and surfers smoking weed, and don't even mention the homeless guys! The break is really hit or miss, but it's a convenient location for people in the east bay if you don't want to fight the currents at Ocean Beach, Rockaway, or Montara. If you go here on a weekend, you have to accept that this is a beginners break and there will be huge crowds and lots of newbie surfers. Don't go there expecting epic rides. The biggest downer are some of the older guys and gals. A lot of them tend to hog the waves with their big ass boards and are pretty grumpy. As a beach, it's generally cold and unattractive. Drive a mile or two down to Montara for much nicer looking beach. read more

Went here during labour day weekend at 4pm! It was a warm day but the beach wasn't that frowned. Sand looks black but it's smooth. A lot of seaweed. It was safe to walk bare foot- didn't get cuts from shells. A lot of parking spaces and my friend told me that she parked in the residential area nearby and walked 5 mins to the beach. Water is cold as expected- very nice for a warm day. A lot of shops and restaurants near the beach. It's family and dog friendly. Overall, easy access, easy parking, clean, not crowded, nice waves. I visited this beach for the first time around sunset on Wednesday. I'm new to the Bay Area, and this was my first time seeing the Pacific Ocean as a resident. There were still people out and about walking with friends, playing with their dogs. Impressively, there were also still some 20+ dedicated post-sunset surfers waiting out in the line up. The beach is a bit rocky, and the restrooms are not the best, but the parking was easy and convenient at that time/day. Can't wait to go back and spend some more time here -- and hopefully be able to catch some waves. :) read more

There were no lingering creepy fog factor either. It went from sunny blue skies to dense 60 degree fog in a snap. We didn't know this but you have to pay for parking. I believe there's several parking kiosks nearby. A kind lady offered her ticket since she was leaving early so we were already in good spirits. Pacifica is known for their turbulent waves so the coastline was riddled with surfers and... rocks. I was wearing sandals and the rocks were a nuisance but nothing you can trek through (1st world problems). The beach was quiet and wasn't littered with a smorgasbord of bodies. I would definitely head back when my kids are a bit older. read more

WHAT'S TO LOVE: * Dogs are very welcome here and from what I could gather, can be off-leash so long as they behave. * You're allowed to grill here. Sea + BBQ = happiness. * No bad attitudes. Unlike Southern California beaches where it's not uncommon to get a 'tude from annoying douchebags or inexplicably aggro a-holes, this place has a very chill vibe. * Bathrooms. It still stinks like an unwashed crotch in there, but at least the toilets flush. GRRRR: * Don't bring your radio, play it at max volume & listen to shitty music. * The traffic to get there (though it was the Sunday before July 4th) and the hot mess called the parking lot. Spare yourself the hassle (unless you're hauling boards or a bunch of crap) and park across the street either in the secondary lots or around the residential area. read more
