This place had delicious pollo burritos. It was like eating a chicken quesadilla. The pollo burrito had no rice and was filled with a proportionate amounts of chicken, beans, and cheese that was grilled to a crunchy perfection. The beef burrito was good, but had a lot of rice. I loved the spicy sauce that comes in the squeeze bottle with no identifier (store made?). They have inside and outside seating. It looked like two different restaurants, but they are the same. Their water comes with a giant mint stem with beautiful leaves. The food did take some time to come out even though they did not appear so busy. Customer service was friendly. read more

The aromas caught me walking by so brunch it was. Menu is of course Mexican-ish and looked yummy. Seated quickly and ordered just as quickly the breakfast pan - egg in a pan topped with bacon, chorizo, cherry tomatoes mushrooms spinach and a relish. Mucho yummo it looked like and indeed it was. Service was pretty good although the staff were a bit dizzy they were so busy. Hey, I'm rhymin! Anyhow it was a great brekky, strong coffee and well worth a visit. read more

Chip to guac ratio not balanced with too much guac and not enough corn chips however I'm willing to let it slide as I don't really like the texture of avocado anyway. I'm a loyal ambassador of their $12 pollo (chicken) burrito. The way the South American spices smolder with the sour cream is just ahhhhhh... ;-) Tried the fish tacos for the first time during this visit and it's a yes from me! Fresh lime, fresh fish, fresh coleslaw - really can't fault the calibre of their Mexican street fair. Alfresco seating available, good for people watching on a warm South Melbourne market Spring day. Love this place! I've literally come here every Sunday since I moved to Melbourne a year ago. I love coming to the markets to do my weekly shopping, and then stopping off for a cold Mexican cola and tasty quesadillas at Paco y Lola. The first few times I visited they seemed to be struggling a little bit... but I feel like they've really gotten into the groove recently. Some of the food here is actually really awesome - any dish with the refried beans is a winner. Personally, I'm a fan of the bean and corn quesadillas - they don't look like much food but they always fill me up. They're just the right amount of chewy and crispy, and they come with a few forkfulls of fresh chopped tomato salsa and sour cream. The best part of Paco Y Lola is definitely the salsa that you get with any meal. There's a tomatillo salsa that's just divine, and a smokey red one with just the right amount of spicy bite. If you don't feel like eating inside there's plenty of space undercover outside, and there's a little tent outside that sells chicken burritos, quesadillas and corn fritters takeaway - they're a bit cheaper as well. Although the service can sometimes be a little bit dodgy, I think that this place is awesome! It's really simple and relatively cheap, and best of all you know exactly what to expect every time. read more

I was very Impressed with Paco Y Lola, after noticing a slew of check -ins here and missing the chance to go myself, or forgetting about it entirely, I decided to go. Plenty of high qaulity, fresh, ultra tasty street food, Mexican style, and plenty there to share. Taco's and taquitos, burritos and a whole heap of other stuff too. They have some very good beers on selection too, so have steered clear of the usual run on the mill boring stuff. Red Pig Ale was very nice. It gets busy here, and is popular, but hopefully with some friends and a bunch of stuff to share, a long lunch won't be a problem. read more

Superb Mexican food, served by staff who care. Paco Y Lola is a tequila bar, but the food is the highlight. Wonderful salsas, burritos, quesadillas and a collection of side dishes that are really interesting. I love Mexican food and Paco Y Lola does not disappoint. The flavors and spice that I expect are delivered full force. This restaurant is inconspicuously located on the Northeast corner of South Melbourne Market. The outside patio is often packed and chaotic, while the inside dining is quite and slower paced. I have been to Paco Y Lola 4 times now and have been just as impressed as the first. It has become my favorite locale for Mexican food. The fish tostadas are superb! With a little convincing that a guide dog is allowed inside with us, we were seated at a table inside near the window. Ordering a nice Mexican pale ale from the menu, which was a perfect matching for the mean to come. The service was spot on with attentive wait staff more than willing to assist (Even when I spilt sour cream all over the floor) Starting with the Chicken Tostadas, which were presented beautifully, and were full of flavour and spices. A little habanero sauce on them finished the dish off quiet well. Then to mains and we tried the beef fajitas. They were the DIY version, and although the beef was well balanced, it was too chewy, to the point that my jaw was hurting. This was disappointing, as the presentation and mix of ingredients looked so promising. The corn and capsicum that accompanied it was beautiful, and the tortillas were not too floury. The atmosphere was a little quiet as we were only 2 of 6 customers, however the beef really let it down for me. I may try it again to give the benefit of the doubt, so stay tuned for another review in the future read more

Paco y Lola is (in my humble opinion) one of the very best Mexican meals I've had anywhere in a very long time! The al fresco seating was packed, and a bit of a madhouse. Had no tiempo to wait, so we sat inside: An attractive and compact space that was much calmer. Started with a glass of lemon-lime soda with bitters ($4.50), which was very refreshing. In the States, virtually all Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa to their patrons gratis. Sadly, that was not the case here. So, instead, we got an order of totopos ($8), which was a small bowl of bite-sized tortilla chips, topped with guacamole, queso fresco, beans, and a few other herbs. I could've easily scarfed this down by myself, it was muy, muy bueno! For our mains, we ordered the puerco derretido quesadillas ($14), and pescado (fish) tostadas ($15). The quesadillas (looking more like soft tacos) were amazingly fresh, flavorful and filling. The stuffing of spiced pork was melt-in-your-mouth sabor! (I also had a taste of a chunk of the lightly breaded and fried fish of the tostada and it, too, was moist and flavorful.) The staff was really quite friendly, and one of the workers (who was on his lunch break), seeing that we were exceedingly fond of spicy hot stuff, even brought us over some special hot sauce that wasn't on the table. I found that extra bit of attention to be quite special...! The entire lunch was a gustatory sensation! I'm giving this first visit a 4-1/2 star rating, and hope to be a Yelp! regular at Paco y Lola's...! I have a feeling those 5-stars are looming on the horizon.... :D read more

Good food but bad customer service - rude and unprofessional. I had a chicken burrito on this afternoon 02 Sep 2016. It was $12 takeaway and din in for $13 - I didn't know until I paid at the counter. When I was being seated, I asked the waiter would that be different price if I din in and take away. I got the confirmation from the staff that would be no extra cost. Then I ordered, finished my meal and paid at the counter. The journey was great since I ordered my food before I paid at the counter. During the counter, I asked the bill. The manager just told me it would $13.00 which is an extra dollar charged. I got back to him that I got told it was $12.00 even I dinned in and confirmed with your staff before being seated. Then he showed me the menu and it stated that it was $13.00 if din in. I told him your staff didn't provide the menu and I got the confirmation from your staff about din in price. He can checked with him staff if he wanted. He refused to do so and just response to me "You just don't want to pay extra $1" then charged me $13.00 due to I had $50 note in my pocket. I talked to the waiter who served me afterward and he admitted that was his mistake. I asked him would I get my $1 back then he said no and apologise to me. Honestly, I don't care being charged for extra $1. However, that $1.00 just reflecting the customer service being treated, lack of the management level and staff training. The most important thing is the reputation of his restaurant was destroyed by that ONE DOLLAR. Sorry mate. You are losing a local customer who work and live there. read more
