    Mexican cola!
    Madeleine C.

Love this place! I've literally come here every Sunday since I moved to Melbourne a year ago. I love coming to the markets to do my weekly shopping, and then stopping off for a cold Mexican cola and tasty quesadillas at Paco y Lola. The first few times I visited they seemed to be struggling a little bit... but I feel like they've really gotten into the groove recently. Some of the food here is actually really awesome - any dish with the refried beans is a winner. Personally, I'm a fan of the bean and corn quesadillas - they don't look like much food but they always fill me up. They're just the right amount of chewy and crispy, and they come with a few forkfulls of fresh chopped tomato salsa and sour cream. The best part of Paco Y Lola is definitely the salsa that you get with any meal. There's a tomatillo salsa that's just divine, and a smokey red one with just the right amount of spicy bite. If you don't feel like eating inside there's plenty of space undercover outside, and there's a little tent outside that sells chicken burritos, quesadillas and corn fritters takeaway - they're a bit cheaper as well. Although the service can sometimes be a little bit dodgy, I think that this place is awesome! It's really simple and relatively cheap, and best of all you know exactly what to expect every time.

Superb Mexican food, served by staff who care. Paco Y Lola is a tequila bar, but the food is the highlight. Wonderful salsas, burritos, quesadillas and a collection of side dishes that are really interesting. Located on Cecil Street within the South Melbourne Market, Paco Y Lola is a great place to grab a bite for lunch, or a settle in for the afternoon with some friends.

I love Mexican food and Paco Y Lola does not disappoint. The flavors and spice that I expect are delivered full force. This restaurant is inconspicuously located on the Northeast corner of South Melbourne Market. The outside patio is often packed and chaotic, while the inside dining is quite and slower paced. I have been to Paco Y Lola 4 times now and have been just as impressed as the first. It has become my favorite locale for Mexican food. The fish tostadas are superb! Each trip I have ordered something different and enjoyed each very much.

Great food, great location -very authentic food with a great taste. there are a lot of competition for Mexican food places in Melbourne but for me this place is right up there and is affordable too.

We were looking for a restaurant that was less touristy than many of the others along the laneways,…read moreand we came upon Tipo 00 so we made a reservation. We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - It was difficult to get a reservation at prime dinner hour, so we opted for a 3:30 PM late lunch/early dinner which worked out perfectly for our schedule. - The place overall has a great vibe, good music, and it is pretty small. - There were some really interesting drinks and good wines to choose from...we went with wine since we had other plans later that evening. - We decided to start with the salad with pear and honey, and then my wife and I split both the black squid ink pasta, and the special pasta that had Moreton Bay Bugs. The salad was incredible perfectly dressed... Having it first gave us away as Americans for sure, but it was perfect. The squid ink pasta was every bit as good as everyone said in reviews, and so was the special pasta. - Service was great, not overbearing. They even brought us some extra bread so we could sop up the sauce from our pasta. Bottom line: There are so many great restaurants in Melbourne and Tipo 00 is right up there and should be on your "to try list".

However, we had no choice the food was so decadent so extravagant so beautiful we had to go twice. Beware of the sweet breakfast options they are VERY sweet but so good after and amazing breakfast went back for the soft shell crab omelet and it didn't disappoint. The portions are enormous and it's hard to not over do it because you can't stop eating. We feel like we didn't even scratch the surface with the food options here despite an otherwise small menu because we kept seeing a parade of the most beautiful plating we'd ever seen. Frankly this place should have a 6 month waiting list to even get a reservation but we walked in and we're immediately seated both times even tho it was clearly busy and many servers were running around keeping things moving.

I came here on New Years Day for dinner. The menu is 6 pages long, but there is a picture of every dish, which makes it really helpful to decide (I assume especially if you're not Korean). I kept it classic and went with the beef bibimbap, and boy am I glad I did! The only adjustment I made was no bean sprouts. Served in a sizzling hot stone bowl, you'll have to control yourself for a couple of minutes to let the rice continue to cook and get all crispy on the edges. The server was quite sweet and asked me if I knew how to eat it when she delivered the bowl. I sheepishly said, "um, mix it all together?" and she nodded in approval and skipped away. All of the ingredients and flavors blended together perfectly, aided by a generous helping of gochugang (sweet/spicy red sauce). I added a grapefruit soju to wash it down. Like many places, you'll self serve cutlery (chopsticks, spoons, napkins) as well as water from the counter. Someone takes your order either at the register or your table (didn't seem to be rhyme or reason to which or why), and then drops off your food when you're done. Space is tailored to groups of 2 or 4, though one group of about 6 or 7 kids came in together looking worse for wear after NYE. Prices are about $15 each for most entrees. The food was delicious (see photos) and I will be back!
