My granddaughter is taking her first ballet classes at Page Academy. The facility is clean and modern. The instructors are really patient with the young children and make the classes interesting, memorable and fun. They are currently prepping the dancers for a spring program. Prices are typical for an hour long activity. We're paying $20 per session. They offer classes for all levels including adult classes. There is a nice waiting area for parents and they can sit and watch the children learn. A restroom is available as well. There is no dedicated parking lot and street parking can be a challenge to find. We parked on a side street. read more

UPDATE on Apr 29: It took Page 6 (SIX!!!) weeks to reply to my email, only to say that she was sorry she'd taken "many days" (read: 44 days to be exact) to consider our situation, but her stance was still the same. She even acknowledged that the wording of her time-off policy was unclear. I wrote back 2 days later to let her know that we would come back in April, take May & June off, and complete our year commitment in July. She wrote back the next day, letting me know she consulted with other studio owners and made the decision to release us from our yearlong contract and reimburse me for the months remaining on it. I've attached our correspondence in March. I did not ask to be released from our contract for several reasons: a) I wanted my daughter to stick to her commitment to ballet, as she had promised when we paid nearly $1k for the year -- as a parent, we were deprived of developing her perseverance. b) We felt we should honor the contract, regardless of whether we agreed with it. c) My daughter liked her instructor (not Page), has many friends, and made many others in the months that she attended Page Academy. By ending our contract, Page also abruptly ended several relationships that my daughter worked hard to build. I still do not agree with Page's time-off policy. If I may make a recommendation (as I imagine Page will read this review one day), I think time-off should be allowed 4 weeks at a time wherever those 4 weeks fall. As it stands now, students take the calendar month off (from the 1st to the 30th/31st). But if a student takes December or May off, they receive fewer weeks off than other possible months (and some months have 5 weeks, depending on the day of the lesson). It would make more sense to offer a flexible 4 weeks off (therefore, 4 lessons off) that falls any time of the month. Since Page offers classes 48 weeks (12 x 4) during the year, it is fairer to let the customer choose which 4 weeks (aka month) they can take off. Instead, the current policy forces the student to take a "month" off when there may only 2 lessons held during that time. I hope I've illustrated the inflexibility, poor service & communication, and lack of consideration & care that I experienced during our year as a paying customer at Page Academy. Never should a paying customer have to wait 48 hours, much less 6 weeks (that is 1052 hours!), for a response. Never have I received such awful service. Absolutely horrendous. And please keep in mind that my daughter is 5 years old and has no idea any of this has happened. While I would have preferred that she finish the year, as she promised us and we promised Page Academy, I'm grateful my daughter hasn't asked about why she's no longer taking ballet. I'm not sure how I'd tell her that we were "released from our contract" (the closest definition I can think of is that we were kicked out or booted from the Academy). It's just really sad and disappointing all around -- all because of THEIR poorly-worded policies and time off that we requested that happen to fall during a "month" with only 2 lessons scheduled + inflexibility on prolonging my daughter's course so that her remaining 2 months could be back-to-back instead of piecemeal. read more

My daughter really enjoyed the ballet lessons there. Parking was not the easiest but it's definitely worth it.

I have personally seen the Page Academy of dance grow from the VERY beginning. The attention given the students and the amount of work (especially behind the scenes) and patience it takes to teach children is not an easy task. read more

My review for this dance school is long overdue! The Page Dance studio is located right on Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki. There is no parking on site but plenty of street parking. There are coin meters right in front of the studio or free parking spots along the side streets. We are always able to find spots on 10th Ave and walk over quickly. They are very good about having people get a temperature check at sign in and sanitizer readily available. Also all the teachers are always masked up and most students choose to too except for the younger ones. There are 2 bathrooms for the students to use and those are very tiny but clean with usable wash sinks. Also for those with covid worries, the studio always has their doors wide open and fans blowing for there to be lots of great air flow. They also have markers and hula hoops for the kids to know where to stand to keep socially distanced. My girls started ballet with Miss Francesca's baby ballet class, then pre-ballet/tap with Ms. Angela and then also ballet 1 with Ms. Page. All the teachers were so great with the little kids and made learning fun and enjoyable. They also use a lot of Disney piano music which is lovely! I've been amazed at how the classes have affected their posture and graceful movements. That alone has made the class worth it for me! They constantly practice at home and my oldest wants to be a ballet dancer when she grows up, she enjoys her classes that much! Ms. Page is easy to reach through email and communicates often so we always know what's going on. She also has dance items for purchase in case you don't want to wait for Amazon. She takes credit card and check payments. We did participate in one show a few months after starting class. It was at the Kroc Center and very professionally done! It was such a great experience for the girls to be on stage and just be around other people (this was in the midst of the pandemic when we had been staying home all the time). read more

Miss Page is BEAUTIFUL inside & out ... she has a gift for teaching & captives the students with her God heart, patience, grace, & talent ... my daughter is truly blooming under her direction Depending on your child's level of dancing ... you can select from many days and time slots Miss Page is very accommodating with scheduling and the other teachers on staff just as kind & skilled. The studio is very comfortable with a waiting area for all of us parents to stay and watch if we choose to. Parking can be a bit challenging but haven't ever not found a stall in the surrounding Kaimuki neighborhood. I've had the opportunity to bring my two nieces here 6 years ago and now my own daughter has attended baby ballet. My review is based off of a few things including my personal experience with the owner Page. Firstly the studio is in need of some major up dating and a big clean. Secondly the prices have increased since Covid which is no shock to anyone but wanted to mention that it has almost double in price. Third is what I'd like to focus more on which would be my personal thoughts on a matter I brought sincerely to Page before discontinuing our classes at the academy. The teachers are very kind and mean well, we absolutely loved our time with Ms.Francheska as she gave more focus on the kids in correcting them, keeping the students focused and the class was smooth. These classes are limited in size for many reasons and there is a wait list which is understandable as we were placed on it for quite some time just to move days. Once we were accepted into the new class I noticed there were many more children(not in the age group)and that the class was much bigger and more people attended the class with their older or much younger children not in the actual class or age group of baby ballet. Some families brought their entire family(4-5ppl on the dance floor) every session, which was very distracting due to the younger children running around, bringing toys on the dance floor and also took away time from the children in the actual class when older siblings where allowed to participate along with other children from other classes coming onto the floor when their class was not yet started. I brought this concern, thoughts and questions regarding her policy and also thanked her for the experience my daughter had received to Page via email but was met with very rude remarks as she accused me of "complaining"(which was in her email title " your complaint about ballet class"and comments about me not being "understanding of parenting multiple kids"(by the way I have two of my own both under the age of 3) and that those that I had pointed out were her family(which they were not) which made her all the more upset at me. As a paying customer I wanted to make sure that my daughter along with those who paid to be students were getting the best experience and attention. I am more than understanding that some families may need to bring their other children along on occasion but some families have abused this. I felt the way I was addressed was very unprofessional and she has completely ignored my rebuttal back to her regarding her tone and remarks. Your customers have the right to express themselves, offer insight and give their feedback on their experience at your establishment. I'd recommend taking your feelings out of it and be more professional. read more

I've always wanted to take my daughter to come kind of ballet or dance class just to keep her little self busy and maybe fall in love with it. I for one didn't have that opportunity growing up so I want the best for my daughter. I wasn't sure at what age they accept to attend the classes so I never bothered looking further to it. My daughter is only two. Anyways I learned that they take in baby's as early as 18 months I believe! Today was my daughters first day. And she loves it! More than what I had imagine. Mrs.Page is an amazing teacher who is kind and patient. I have been learning to dance under her for about ten years. She is a wonderful dancer who has taught us using her experiences and showing us the individual steps. She teaches and gives corrections in a kind but firm way. In pre-ballet keiki are taught the basics to ballet and tap to help with musicality. Then in the higher levels other types of dance (ex: modern, contemporary, hip hop, and acrobatics) are also taught alongside ballet. This helps expand our dance horizons in a fun way. This studio is great for younger or even older dancers who are just starting out. Page Academy of Dance is a fantastic place for dancers who want to dance in relaxed environment with friendly people. After searching high and low for ballet classes in town I'm so happy that both of my daughters are now students at Page Academy of Dance. They each had their first trial class and both loved their classes. Page Academy of Dance is located on Waialae Avenue a few doors down from Tamura's. The studio is by no means fancy, but we love Ms. Page who's their instructor and the studio owner. She's a beautiful ballerina who never raises her voices and continuously adjusts students in class. My daughters were both tired after their classes so I know they're getting a nice vigorous workout. After only two classes I already see improvement in my older daughter's posture and I can tell this is going to be a great fit for her. My little one is a natural born dancer and I'm excited to see how she progresses once she figures out how to coordinate her feet and legs. Ms. Page runs the studio pretty much by herself so if you want to sign up be sure to text her. Or you can just show up with your child and get a free trial class. Lessons are about $20 a class which is not cheap, but I think the level of instruction makes it worthwhile. Parking is on the street or in the neighborhood. Took my daughter for her free trial class on Sunday. I have to say I am absolutely thrilled to have listened to all the other wonderful reviews of this place. I live right around the area and I pass by this cute little studio almost everyday for years. I never imagined I would be interested in actually anything ballet... but of course my 5 year old has only been asking about dancing ballet for quite some time now. This place is perfect for me since it's walking distance and I don't drive. But for those who do drive parking can be a bit hard to find. The street may be your only option if it's not already taken by another proud ballet parent. I first came in on a Wednesday wanting to check out the class with my daughter but it was already close to closing since it was about 630pm by the time I got there. The lady there I found out was just a substitute for the day since I guess Wednesday's are Ms. Page's day off. But she was nice enough to give me a registration paper and a phone number to call her at. I called ms. Page the next day and honestly from the first phone call to meeting her she is such a sweet lady! I wasn't sure how everything worked but she was able to answer my questions and offered a free trial class to see if my daughter would like it before making a commitment and it was nice that they have donated tap shoes and slippers to use the first day! And it was nice if her to tell me what color I should dress my daughter in so she wouldn't feel left out. I decided to checkout the Sunday class at 330pm. It's very interesting the hours say the academy is open from 230 to 7pm so my daughter and I walked there a few min early to the class since we didn't want to be late. About 315p we got there it was closed I guess I thought it would be opened at 230. But it opened with the class time which is fine, just a little confused with the time schedules. But ms. Page came to open same time we arrived so my daughter was able to introduce herself and wanted to give her a flower she picked herself. I was very happy with how sweet ms. Page was to my daughter. I stayed to watch the class and noticed that it can get pretty packed with parents it's nice that there was some chairs along the wall and everyone should remove their shoes so they can sit on the carpet area. And there was a small bathroom so the children could change in there uniforms. Watching my daughter dance and learn from ms. Page was very entertaining and I loved how patient and happy she is with the kids. I believe my favorite thing I noticed about the way ms. Page teaches the children is she really pays attention and sees each individual child and teaches them according to how they will understand. And that really wowed me! This is definitely someone I am ok with teaching or being around my daughter! So if your thinking about taking this class, your child would be in good hands!! Thank you ms. My daughter has been taking ballet with Ms. Page since she was 3 1/2 years old. She's almost 9 years old now. Ms. Page is the most patient, gentle, kind, and compassionate teacher I've ever met. Both my girls absolutely love learning from her. Many other dance studios are so strict and take the fun out of learning. She genuinely cares for her students and their families. You give a negative one star review because your kid got shoved once in class which was not seen by the instructor and because you didn't review the terms of an agreement that you consented to?! C'mon, you gotta be joking. Read the definition of "bullying" before you use that harsh term and read your agreements before you consent. Also realize that there is jostling in the line and kids push and shove each other as they position themselves during class. I know because i watch my daughter each week during class. That ain't bullying; that's normal and expected behavior from three year olds getting stepped on and crowded on the dance floor. I really liked this studio. Page is super sweet and approachable. The teacher (I'm sorry, I can't remember her name) for the Pre-ballet class my just-turned-four year old was in was also really great. My kid only lasted three classes and Page was kind enough to put a stop on the next payment even though I should have given 30 days notice.
