I love history like this so I was super excited. I came here for the Tom Kelly Glass House. When you first walk up, there is a sign explaining the history of the house. Next to it, there is a sign in sheet so you can see where people have travelled from to checkout the house. I was amazed by how many people had recently been there! It's a short stop, just walk up and take a few pictures of the house. Look inside. Take in the history. I would definitely recommend adding this stop to your trip if you're passing through! Ohhh also, the Goldwell Museum is only a minute drive from the Tom Kelly Bottle House. Check out that place too and be respectful of the artwork!

Ok so i wasnt going to post anything, but this is a prison i totally get it i really do, but of the…read moreofficers should remember that visitors are free people we are not inmates, i do understand the day to day dealing with prisons, i work at ccdc as a nurse, the thing is with SOME, not most of the guards, they forget who they are talking to, it would be different if i myself was rude, but again i am a nurse so i know how to be polite on a bad day, SOME of the officers forget that, some of the vistitors are rude and entitled i get that but not all of us are. I repect the job its not a easy one but when the officers are rude, it doesnt make it any easier for anyone. Its not a good feeling to be searched or even in this place, but I will continue to visit my family regardless if they believe they shouldnt get visits or not. They are attentive, respectful, mindful, thorough, and consistent. The psychiatrist I saw was willing to listen to my mental problems and I think June the therapist was a very sweet lady there to just listen which I can always appreciate. I really like the dentist I see. She and the assistants make me feel comfortable and they seem non judgemental. I have the nastiest teeth for a 32 year old. Tsk tsk on me. The substance abuse counselor, Mr. Felix was such a breath of fresh air. He went at my pace and we set realistic goals for my road to recovery. I will always choose their services over anyone else's except I'm in a program which means I have to see my program's psychiatrist only. Very good people and professional :)

To find this hidden gem, take I-15 to Zzyx Road in the Southeastern direction (the wrong side of the highway deadends after about 1/4 mile, so don't worry). Keep driving, even when the pavement briefly ends after 4 miles or so. You'll see a weird Gilligans Island-style oasis creep up over the horizon. And bam, you're there! Try to go during the cooler months -- it can get up to 130F in the summer. All those abandoned buildings are a dream for photogs!
