    Jjajangmyeon

Truth be told, I was taken in by the celebrity chef connection, as I watched Culinary Class Wars with Paik Jung-won as one of the judges. Located in HMart's small food court, it is what it is. At ~$13 with tax, it was decently cheap and flavorful for jjajangmyeon these days, but not great. The noodles were just not chewy enough; they were too soft. The sauce was mostly onions and cabbage, I think, with some beef mixed in. It hit the craving I had, but the noodle texture made me wish I had gone elsewhere. Service was courteous and fast though.

Got the stir fried noodles and fried dumplings. You really need to like oyster sauce to enjoy this dish. They use a thin wrapper for the fried dumplings. Overall, not bad.

2.5 The staff seems nice. We ordered: JAJJANGMYUN w/ SWEET & SOUR PORK COMBO- this was ok. It was a touch too sweet for my liking JJAMPPONG- wasn't a fan of the soup lacked depth. Hannam Chain makes all 3 better, but HMart is so much closer

Jangban jjajang is probably their best menu. Its meant for two people and it is their best jjajang. Dont get the regular jjajang if you can and get the two seving one. Jjambong is just okay but I feel like the noodles don't absorb the flavor of the soup that well. They just play separately. The tangsooyuk is pretty good everytime and it make a good addition to your noodles

Torrance Food Crawl #419 Paik's Noodles is one of three restaurants in the H-Mart food court. This location seems to find a new tenant every couple of years, so we'll see how Paik's holds out in the long run. Shortly after this restaurant opened, I noticed one of the chefs looking out at the food court. I noticed a similarity with the photo of the owner, and then realized that it indeed was the owner of the Paik's Noodle chain, Jong Won Paik. So, I know that he actually shows up at the chain's locations. The menu is a mix of Chinese and Korean-style dishes. The portion size is large. The best item I've had was the Jjamppong, a spicy noodle and rice dish, with pork, squid, mussels, and vegetables. Very satisfying on a cold day. My latest visit was about six months since the last one. This time, I got the Spicy Chicken. Nicely spicy, though I wish the chicken was a little more crispy. The white rice accompanying dish was a disappointment, dry with brown scorch marks on much of the rice. Most disappointing was that the dish came with a plastic fork and spoon. It was the first time I'd eaten here where I wasn't provided chopsticks! Yeah, I'm an old white guy, so I may not look like most of the other Asian customers, but if I'm eating at this restaurant, I wish I would be shown some common courtesy and provided chopsticks, and if I didn't want them I could have asked for a fork and spoon.

Best shrimp I have ever tasted on shrimp fried rice!!! Not going to lie, the fried rice was pretty bland- I'm used to flavorful/savory/salty fried rice, at least with maybe a little hot sauce or soy sauce. This was not it for the flavor-- BUT the shrimp was cooked to perfection. Usually when I order shrimp fried rice, I am hesitant because the establishment either gives too little shrimp, or it's overcooked and too chewy. They gave about 10-12 pieces of shrimp and it was so delicious I did not even add anything to the fried rice. It was filling and tasted like the healthiest fried rice I've ever had They gave soup and pickled radish on the side. The soup has a very distinct seafood flavor that I did not care for (but my husband loved) and I enjoyed the pickled radish. Service was fast and friendly. Bonus points for taking Apple Pay. We went during lunch rush so there were only a few spots open, but every table was clean. You return the tray/dishes to the restaurant and throw out your own trash. They provide water cups as well. Very nice quick lunch date in a food court type place.

Located inside H Mart. This is the latest restaurant to open in the food court. If you like spicy foods, order the Jaengban Jajang. It's stir fried black bean sauce noodles with pork, squid and shrimp. Huge portions and delicious! Skip the Gunmandu (fried dumplings). It had a weird texture and tasted old like freezer burn.

Seafood Jampong or Champong. Great for a rainy night.

Located inside HMart. I was in the mood for JaJang myun (black bean noodles) with Jamppong (Seafood Noodles). This place is solid for that. Is it the best? Maybe not but it's decent. The Jampong had plenty of seafood in it although it appeared to contain no shrimp. The Jajang was tasty and because we ordered both those dishes, there was plenty of the highlighter yellow daikon which is the perfect sweet/tart condiment for these savory noodles. (It would have been nice to have a little side of tangy kimchi for the Jajang.) Economy-wise, the prices for both of these dishes was reasonable especially during these times. However, we ordered the Chili Shrimp for my son. Presentation-wise it was underwhelming and the portion seemed small. The flavor did have a nice kick to it. Also disappointed there was no small side of rice accompanying it which would have been ideal. Would come back and order other iterations of the jajang and jampong dishes. Based on other reviews, looks like some of the other dishes are hit or miss.

Staple Jjajang bap. Picked up today 6.17

That staple in the fried rice.. i had careful while eating just incase there was more. I called and tried ask for a replacement but did not understand what I was saying and just hangs up. And was the egg on top always put like this?

The panko crumbs on the chicken was nice and light. It was perfectly fried and not too hard/over crispy. The meat was also juicy. My toddler ate 3 large pieces of it and kept complimenting how tasty it was. The kim chi fried rice had a great fried egg in it and had great flavor. Even the side of rice was delicious! It was moist and sticky without being overcooked. The bad: I didn't get to experience the food court dining in the grocery store. The interesting: The dishes came with a side salad with orange dressing, pickled yellow radish, and some citrus wedges. The dishes came with 3 pickled side dishes (including kim chi). and a soup.

So we scoured its food court for a quick meal and found this stall with a large selection of Korean dishes. After browsing through their wall mount menu, we ordered the following dishes: A1 Galbi Tang: Do you like juicy pork ribs in clear broth? Then this dish is for you. It came with 2 huge pieces of super tender short rib simmered in a light but flavorful broth with some soft texture glass noodles. It also came with a small set of traditional Korean Banchan side dishes (with kimchi, preserved turnip and seaweed salad) and a bowl of steamed rice. A16 Hot Stone Bibimbap: This dish is for those who like veggies. Inside the hot stone bowl, there were lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, turnips, mushrooms, and zucchini. Nicely arranged and topped with seaweed, fried egg, and slices of soft beef. On the bottom of the bowl, it had slightly burnt steam rice dabbed with sesame oil. Mixing them all together, it created a kaleidoscope of colors, and delicious blending of flavors and textures. This dish also came with one set of Banchan. For those who like spiciness, it provided Korean chili sauce in a sealed condiment cup. The portions were great and the prices were reasonable. Another great spot for casual Korean food in South Bay.

Purple rice and banchan were delicious as well. I love how thick and crunchy their radish is and I loved pouring some of those juices into my broth about halfway through finishing. As for the food, you have to try the signature dish: gobchang (intestines). For a medium, you get to choose three of four types: abomasum (stomach), tripe, large intestines, and small intestines. Additionally, you get side dishes, a choice of a stew (kimchi or fermented soybean), corn cheese, steamed egg, and salad. They cook the intestines for you before bringing it out to your table, so that it says warm as you eat. They stir fry the intestines with potatoes, onions, garlic and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious. We also ordered the beef tartare, since they had posters of it around the restaurant. The beef tartare is definitely in the top 3 of the ones I've tried around OC and SD. The cuts are thicker than normal and the seasoning is just right. They don't include a lot of ingredients like other places do, but it just hits better.
