After our group's morning hike, we headed to Paik's, which I had picked out for our lunch. Paik's is a Korean-Chinese restaurant that started in Seoul in 2006 and has since expanded globally with four locations in the Bay Area. This location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We arrived a little after they opened at 11am and there were two tables of customers. Checking out the menu, it's limited to Jajangmyeon, jjamppong, stir-fried noodles and rice, pork, chicken and shrimp dishes, mandu and Korean chicken wings. I love jajangmyeon and ordered it with extra noodles. The bowl of noodles came with a thick savory black bean sauce with some pork and vegetables. The taste was spot-on and it's comparable to my favorite Jajangmyeon that I get in the City. You get pickled radish with your food with refills. Now I can get closer to home. Jajangmyeon is a Korean-Chinese dish and they do it well here. Four of the five of us had the jajangmyeon and one at the vegetable stir-fried noodles. Everyone was happy with their food. Nice spot for some jajangmyeon and jjampong. Love that I don't have to go to the South Bay when I want some Korean/Chinese food. Been here a few times but recently visited after a few years. Did a large to go order and our food was ready within 15 minutes. Our order was packed well and they added a lot of yellow radish and utensils which was nice. Service was friendly as well. The portions were all a bit small in our opinion. Compared to the Santa Clara location, it was a bit lacking. The food did taste good tho and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, this place is good and I like the location. It isn't the best but it does have all the necessities of good Korean/Chinese cuisine so I'll be back. Was in the area and craving Korean food, so I decided to give this spot a try since I really like their Santa Clara location. We ordered some of our usual go-tos: jjampong, beef jjampong, and tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork). - Jjampong: Good portion size, but not as flavorful as the Santa Clara location. It just didn't have that same depth or kick. - Beef jjampong: Decent, but nothing particularly memorable. - Tangsuyuk: This was the most disappointing. It wasn't crispy at all, more on the soggy side and the meat pieces were cut pretty small, so you don't get that juicy bite you'd expect. On the positive side, the service was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. Food did take a bit longer than expected to come out though. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I'd still choose the Santa Clara location over this one. read more

I've been to the South Bay location a few times, with the drive and the wait time, I was excited to get one in the east bay. There's plenty of parking at this location. We were seated quickly for a weekend dinner. It is quite small, but it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. First time trying this shot, I was interested in comparing it to Myeongdong jiajiangmyeon in the pacific pearl plaza. Ordered a sweet and sour pork, jiajiangmyeon, and spicy noodle soup (can't remember the name). I've been coming here for a while now and it's always been spot on. I only get the regular jjampong. I have tried the chili one and the meat one but I think the regular seafood one is the best. They are very generous with the seafood and it could be spicier (for me everything can be spicier) but it is fairly spicy and the broth is very rich. I always come for lunch usually by myself during a weekday and it is never crowded and the service is excellent. There is only one lady there who is always there during weekday lunches and she will check on how I'm doing about twice during the meal, which is the Goldilocks amount of how much I want to be checked in on. My daughter loves the jjajangmyeon here. I'm not a huge fan of jjajangmyeon but I have tried the spicy seafood mixed one and it is delicious. We have also tried some other dishes and honestly, you can't miss with whatever you order here. So flavorful and textures are perfect and they are generous with their portions. I did read another reviewer mention that the portion size did become smaller with the new ownership and I also noticed that. However the portion size now is still way more than you should eat in one sitting (though I still do and regret it every time). Highly recommend this place. read more

What an amazing place for noodle soup! If you like tasty noodle soup that's full of goodness, I think you should check this out. We came here on a cold night and the food certainly hit the spot! Husband ordered a beef jjampong while I had the regular seafood jjampong. Both were excellent, full of flavor and filled with lots of soft veggies and seafood/beef, thus not very carby, just the way we like it. It was a feast for the senses and the stomach! I haven't been back in awhile. I noticed the menu has changed to the double sided menu instead of the thick book of menu. We tried the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings( we asked less spicy and they were able to do it) , meat jajangmyeon and beef jjamppong. The chicken wing was so so. A bit too much sauce for me. And I felt the meat that went with jajangmyeon was a bit dry. I would probably get the regular jajangmyeon next time without the meat like we used to. Came here after trying out the Santa Clara location. I was really craving the stir fried jajangmyeon LOL We ordered the stir fried jajangmyeon and cream shrimp. Both were really good! The cream shrimp is really reminiscent of honey walnut shrimp. The stir fried jajangmyeon had a nice kick of heat and had great flavor! So exciting that Paik's Noodle opened up in Dublin! I feel like this location seems to be a bit smaller than the other ones I've been to but still great quality. After we sat down and ordered, the food took a maximum of 7 minutes to be ready. - Jjamppong - The noodles here are always so good. The texture is amazing and the way that it is able to grab the flavors of the soup is just amazing. The soup is also so very flavorful and I especially loved all the cabbage bits in it. I only wish that there was slightly more ingredients to this dish, but I can't really complain much for the price. - Stir-fried Noodle - I was a bit worried this was going to taste like chow mein but it was pretty good as the noodle texture again is what carried this dish. I did appreciate the variety of seafood in the dish and how big the portion sizes were. Overall, Paik's Noodle is always a safe choice. I'd been to the one in Santa Clara when it first opened about decade ago and wasn't terribly impressed. After watching Culinary Class Wars, my husband wanted to try it so we decided to give the new location closer to us a chance. Rating Breakdown: 1.5/2 Stars for Taste -- Our favorite dish was the fried pork (tangsuyuk). The breading was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, almost tasted more like a guobaorou. The dipping sauce has just the right amount of tang and I appreciate that it's served on the side. The jajangmyeon is solid, it comes with a good amount of meat (and peas, I could hear my sister complaining in my head). Not the best I've had but not the worst either. The jjampong came with a generous serving of seafood but lacked the classic wok hei flavor. I would skip this next time. 1/1 Stars for Value -- $11 for a giant bowl of jajangmyeon is a pretty great deal. They give you so much sauce you could easily pay a few dollars for extra noodles and make this a double portion. If you get a noodle dish and an entree to share, you'll probably spend about $20-25 per person. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- We came with our twin stroller and the server was kind enough to find us a table with ample room to accommodate it. Our food came out quick and I appreciate that they give you scissors and extra bowls for the noodles without asking. We beat the rush and there was a small line when we finished. So my beautiful wife and I wanted to try this spot, ever since we heard about it on social media. Let's say we were not disappointed! The fast paced restaurant, offers a variety of wonderful dishes, to eat on your own, or share with your table. The sweet and sour pork, offered a crunchy but subtle texture when I took my first bite. Definitely tasted better than your typical run of the mill, Chinese counter part. The vegetable fried rice at first I thought was too bland, and needed more flavor, but in the end it was delicious and really surprised me. I used to make the 45-minute drive to Paik's in Santa Clara whenever the jjajangmyeon craving hit, but that drive isn't exactly convenient. So I'm really glad there's now a Paik's location here in Dublin. Not all Paik's are the same, but personally, I couldn't tell much of a difference between this spot and the Santa Clara one. The noodles were cooked just right -- al dente with a nice bite. The sauce was generous, definitely enough for a second serving if you order extra noodles (pro tip!). I went with the spicy jjajangmyeon, and it had a solid kick! It's never super busy here, which honestly surprises me. Maybe it's the location since it's tucked away in the Lamps Plus Plaza and easy to miss. Still, I'm glad this place found a home in Dublin. We got a spicy stir fried jajang (typically for 1-2 people), chow mein, jam pong, and sweet sour fried pork. My favorite which I was really surprised by was the sweet and spicy pork! I like that the sauce came on the side so the pork stayed crispy and the pork was so juicy inside: My group has different favorites for the noodles so I'd say to go with what you're feeling. Stir fried spicy black bean noodles have heavier flavors and pack a punch! Some people say that it's a bit much after while but I personally really enjoyed it. Tucked away from driver's view is a nice restaurant that is hiding in a corner building at San Ramon valley blvd in West Dublin. I'm so glad a friend of mine told me about this place. Not all Paik's are alike. I like this location way better than the one in Santa Clara. Quality, preparation and flavors are oddly different. Love their spicy chicken kkangpoongi and beef jajangmyeon. Also tried getting tangsuyuk with chicken and like it more than pork! They make their chicken tender and juicy on the inside; crispy on the outside. Lots of meat and not too much batter. Portions are generous. I can split one jajang with my toddler and have another meal for her if I freeze the sauce. Good amount of seating inside, although not a lot of big tables for larger groups. After watching Culinary Class Wars I had to come check out Paik's Noodle. Paik was one of the judges and known as the "Gordon Ramsey of South Korea". This is casual comfort food and on a cold winter day the food was truly comforting to my soul. The jjajamyeon did not disappoint. The sauce is served on top and after a thorough mixing the noodles soaked up the sauce nicely. The jjamppong was seasoned with the right amount of spice for me. The Tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork) came out with the sauce on the side. The pork was fried perfectly and ready to dip in the tangy sauce. The consistency is thick and gooey so I prefer the dipping it. This is just for take out review. Love paiks noodles. So glad there's one in Dublin compare to Santa Clara since the drive is closer. If you haven't tried Paik's the Jajangmyeon is such a wonderful dish. Just know it can get all over the place so make sure you wear cloths you don't mind getting stains on or that you will have it all around your mouth. Ordering it to go doesn't really change the quality of it compare to eating in the restaurant, but the noodles when you order it together will end up sticking together in the container so it will take some effort to spread it and mix it with the sauce. Sometimes you don't want to think too much and don't want to deal with tons of choices...And those times you just want some good SPICY noodles. You go to Paik's Noodles on those days... This is our go to place when we crave spicy noodles... and we crave spicy noodles quite often. Our usual is the Chili JJAMPPONG and Stir fried noodles. On our first visit over a year ago, we tried the regular Jjamppong. It was red and had a nice kick, but we crave more heat so we tried the chili jjamppong on the 2nd visit, and we have not gone back. Other than the jjamppong, we also tried the stir-fried Jajanmyeon, the spicy chicken, the sweet and sour pork, the potstickers and the regular stirfried noodles. The stir fried jajanmyeon was also good but I personally do not care for fried noodles that are too saucy. So I prefer the regular stir fried noodles. The chicken and pork entrees are also tasty but the coating was too thick for my liking. The potstickers were decent but not something I order every time. The older menu had chicken wings as coming soon but we waited for over a year until it got removed from the menu. At least for the location near us. Overall this is a great spot for a quick bite to satisfy my craving for fire in my mouth. I think the prices are pretty reasonable and the service is good for a no nonsense place like this. They always ask if we want refill for the pickled radish. The decor was simple, really can't expect much from such restaurant as we are here to stuff our face not to be romanticized...one this is the chairs are hard and cold... lol The chili jjamppong deserves 5 stars, but the overall experience is more of a 4 stars... read more
