I had loads of fun with my girlfriends at Painting with a Twist! This is amazing for large parties or a date night! I do not have an artistic bone in my body but managed to draw a beautiful painting which I can't wait to hang up in my house once I find the right frame to fit my canvas. The instructor was very patient and walked us through every brush stroke and half way he would assist in making corrections is someone was struggling. He was very helpful and descriptive up on stage. Much better live as my picture was predrawn out which I loved and I could see and hear the instructor much better. I can't rave enough about how great painting with a twist is. I went yesterday for a class, we were painting flowers. Everything was already set up when I arrived. You don't have to worry about the mess of it at home. Instructor gave good, clear instructions and there also was a helper named Faith who was great, and so helpful. I also made a candle which is new. You pick the scent, mix it with the wax, it hardens and you have a candle. Their scents were amazing there are more I want to do. They have a big variety in their schedule of different styles. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Cute studio right off of San Marco. There is extra parking in the alleyway. We had a girl's night with the church. The instructor was very funny and kept it entertaining. We had such a fun time, that I didn't take any photos I could share. But what a blast! We did a charity paint and celebrated a friends birthday. Our paintings were----good! Hahah. But the time we had together was the best. We were able to come early and pregame. It is BYOB, and you can bring snacks too. I came here yesterday with a group of my friends for one of their birthdays and we had a blast! The staff was so much fun and very helpful! It is the perfect place to relax, have a drink and have some fun with your pals. We painted the little mermaid and jammed out to Disney music during our session. Everyone sang along to the songs and we all embraced our Disney love. The studio is in a perfect location in San Marco, plenty of room for parking and a short walk from some of my favorite food joints. It is a beautiful brick building with plenty of natural light to paint your masterpieces. This is for both the expert painter and the beginner. An instructor stands on a stage at the front of the room and there are TVs situated around the room in case you can not see. PS this place is BYOB (bring your own beverage). This was such a fun experience!! I've never been here before and I am not artistic at all. I had very low expectations. I figured it'll be a fun time with friends, but whatever I paint will end up in the fire pit. I saw the painting of the night and thought well this is gonna be bad! I can barely draw a circle or color in the lines. We painted under a black light so that was different and a lot of fun!! They played the best music!! It was just a mix of popular mosaic now and music from the 90's and early 2000's! The instructor on stage was awesome and then there was a man walking around helping if you needed it. I raised my hand a few times lol When it was done I was shocked!! My painting looked so good!! We had so much fun We drank wine We laughed We listened to awesome music! I was surprised by my daughter with a paint night for my birthday. We had a wonderful time. The painting area a little small, narrow, and it got hot but they made up for that with personality and charm. Outside food and drinks are welcome. PWAT @San Marco was my first time EVER painting anything other than someone's face with makeup! Furthermore, my husband is hopeless in the art department and isn't a "put on an apron and sit in an art class" kinda' guy at all! However, our friends (who love it and raved about it) invited the hubs and I on a double date. I was super nervous that the hubs would HATE it, and we'd basically pay money to slap paint around a canvas and be miserable! Ultimately, we went despite our initial reservation and made a pact that if all else failed, we'd allow the wine to keep us company and try our best to be a good "date" for our friends! We prepared for the worst, but the exact opposite happened. We had a blast! Our instructor was patient and super sweet! We fared well, and our paintings turned out fairly well also! I definitely enjoyed my self at Painting with a Twist. I was invited to a private party and the mini studio for private event was nice and quaint. I believe we had around 13 individuals in our group and the room the perfect size. The private room was behind the main building and it had its separate bathroom/washroom from the main building. The instructor was nice and energetic and guided us while painting. Also, she helped us with our painting as needed. She had Pandora playing while we were painting, laughing and having a good time. We did not have to worry about disturbing other patrons because we were totally separated. I would visit again. read more

We had 5 star treatment even though we didn't get to paint. My wife-y won a date night class on a facebook promotion by PWAT , and we were really excited to check this place out and have a fun night out... It's been awhile since she felt up to do anything much & we are usually pretty regular date nighters. So, we chose the 10pm "Love Letters in the Sand" class. We arrived early and noticed the prior class was finishing up. From the parking area we could see Through the windows & everyone was smiling, laughing & appeared to be having a great time ... So now we became even more excited for our experience. We took a walk through the area, then arrived early - once the previous class cleared out & staff has prepared the room for our upcoming class. My wife & I checked in, the young lady at the desk was very nice, and we adored the quaintly decorated studio. We looked at the paintings, read the very fun instruction sign, and found our designated spots. Opened the bottle of wine, popped open a cold beer and joked with staff as we settled in. About 10min before our class was to begin lighting could be seen dancing across the night sky and sure enough - out goes the electricity. The entire block was dark and it was kinda a nice to take a minute, watch the lightening in the pure dark & feel the river breeze. At 10pm when the class was to begin, the owner arrived and introduced himself. They announced they would give it @ 10 min, then reevaluate. At 10:20 they announced that were cancelling the class, as it was much to dark to paint, computers were down .... The Great news was that there no hesitation from them to offer everyone a chance to come back to the class of their choice in the future. We didn't get to paint, but the staff was very friendly, apologetic & it was interesting to get to check the studio out. My wife and I still had a nice evening out, met interesting & fun people and look forward to going back as soon as we can. And, we still had a bottle of wine & 6 pack to finish for the evening. read more

The staff were super helpful and they took us step by step and had lots of patience! They noticed some people were stressing out- and they had us take breaks and check out our peers paintings. Last night I finally got to try out Painting with a Twist and it was fantastic! Let me start by saying, we did a class at Blackfinn, not at their San Marco studio. I was part of a group of 4, 2 of whom had taken a class before. I am not artistic in the slightest and was actually nervous about how my pairing would turn out. Our class was 2 hours so it was $35. The class took place on the patio on Blackfinn. It was nice at first but it got chilly and kind of dark when the sun went down (after a bit they put on some heat lamps which helped). It was kind of hard to hear at some points but the instructors were great and coming around and making sure everyone knew what was going on. The main instructor was the owner, Geri. She was awesome. She kept reminding everyone that there was no "wrong," which was nice for someone as nervous as I was. Jordan was also walking around and helping us. It was nice to have more than one person around to help! The painting was so easy to do! Mine definitely isn't perfect and only kind of looks like the example but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. We did a Jax themed painting of the Main Street Bridge and our little group wants to make it through all of their Jacksonville themed paintings. Blackfinn had happy hour food and drinks specials in addition to the appetizers being passed around. PWAT even provided "props" for us to talk fun pictures and offered to take pictures (before and after!) with our phones. I would highly recommend PWAT for anyone looking to have fun and get a little artistic! The staff was really friendly and helpful and (probably for the first time in my life!) I felt like I actually made real art! read more

When you've been with your significant other for almost 10 years, you eventually realize that you've gone on practically every kind of date Jacksonville has to offer. Painting with a Twist was next on our list and when I found out that they were offering a Jacksonville Jaguars themed night, I knew we just had to sign up. It was So. Much. Fun. You would think that after three hours of painting we'd be over it but nope. After the second hour and a couple of glasses of wine, I was having way too much fun. I didn't want the night to end! This was a late Friday night class right before the Jags game against the Patriots, so you can imagine that all of us were getting a little rowdy, chanting "Duvaaaaaaal" every five minutes and ringing the "drink" bell after every step in the painting process haha! I love that bell. Our instructor, bless her heart, she was so kind and patient with us, despite the fact that we were a hot mess of a group. And if you get too drunk and you start painting with your wine goggles on, it's okay! They actually offer a free session where you can take your canvas back and fix it if you're not happy with your painting! I thought this was awesome. All in all, this is a fun place for date night and what an amazing staff at this location. Can't wait to go back again :) P.S. Don't forget to bring snacks because you will definitely get the wine munchies after the first hour (or thirty minutes, no judging here ) read more

For a pre-valentine date, the Hubby and I went to Painting w/a Twist (PWAT) on the eve of Valentine's day. I happened to register for the class a few hours before 7pm and luckily the class wasn't booked. Now, I'm 30 years old and still draw stick figures and animals that all look the same...so I was skeptical about being able to paint ANYTHING. PWAT is located in San Marco, parking is at the back of the building. We walked in the main building and were amazed by the various paintings and supplies, we were also greeted by a great and friendly staff! The main bldg houses the larger classes, our class was in an adjacent smaller bldg that can hold up to 14 students. Our class was 2 hours and painted a wine glass. The twist about PWAT is that you can bring drinks and food to paint. It's painting for fun in a relaxed environment. How awesome is that?!! They set up your gear ahead of time for you - canvas, easel, brushes, water cup, paints, aprons, etc. Our instructor was Nate, who hands down is AWESOME!! Laid back and great instructor!! Throughout the session, Nate would guide us how to paint the Wine Glass step-by-step, so its essentially idiot-proof. Fellow instructors and staff members would come into the class to check up on us and take random pictures. I love the staff members and their attention to customers. Overall it was a great experience and will plan for my bday this year at PWAT! read more

This place was soo much fun! I can't even believe how good our paintings turned out. Me and the hubby arrived a few minutes before our start time and we got checked in and got our smocks and canvases. We found our assigned seating which was exactly where I wanted to sit so it worked out for us. They had cups and ice to put things to chill. Of course I kept my wine chilled and had some poured before class got started. The instructor goes thru the whole painting process step by step and while some may feel she moves rather quick she is also very accommodating to any questions and was very willing to show how to do the example again. Overall me and the hubby really enjoyed ourselves and had tons of fun doing this experience. I would seriously recommend this as a fun date night or friends night out :-). read more

too much fun! i kept telling myself there was no way i was going to enjoy this.. and then they came out with a baby yoda painting and i had to do it and i just had to drag my boyfriend along knowing he'd probably hate it. but what do we know... we LOVED it! it was loads of fun and so interesting. the atmosphere was wonderful, i love that the girls who taught the class were so helpful and made jokes and brought everyone in the room into a good mood. also.. our paintings came out absolutely adorable! i will be back so many times more, its so much fun! definitely jump out of your comfort zone! read more

I've had the pleasure of painting with a twist, both times at the San Marco location. My friends and I made sure to bring finger foods like french bread & spinach dip, chicken wings, and guacamole & chips. We also had various wines both red & white as well as home made sangria. We wanted to do something different for a long overdue "Girls Night Out," so we decided to check out "Painting with a Twist." I was the only one who had never done a painting event before, so I was a little nervous about it - but our instructor, Jeffrey, immediately put me at ease. This particular location was easy to get to, being in the San Marco area with lots of parking around it. The studio itself was spacious and well-ventilated. Jeffrey taught from a small stage up front, and our stations -- complete with brushes, paints, easels and canvases, had already been set up. The painting of this night involved the Eiffel Tower and some flowers. Jeffrey did a great job of explaining how to paint this particular piece. What was the most fascinating, though, was not how similar the paintings were (there were 11 people in our class) to the original/example, but how different! Everyone ended up with a masterpiece of their own! Kudos to Jeffrey for his patience and clarity in teaching while also keeping it fun! All of the women I was with have already agreed this will be something we do again. It was relaxing and fun and we walked away with our own little work of art! read more

Didn't do 5 stars only because the eating, drinking, and painting didn't really flow together. There wasn't enough counter space to put your stuff while you painted. How Fun! i went on the 21st of August with my friend, her daughter, her mother, and her neice...we were late due to traffic but they were very friendly about it..the set up is nice, long tables with all the gear you need set up for you..there was some music that our instructor played and i think everyone heard a few tunes they loved..the instructor was really nice and helpful..but he seemed to get pushy near the end and reminded us a few times that there was another class after us..you can take your own beverages to sip while you paint which is fun, and some of the paintings looked like ones that id like to try..we all agreed this was something we would want to do in the future..you also get a card to have punched for i think a free class and also theres the option of a private class and im pretty sure they will go to another location too if youd like..overall great experience and i look forward to returning read more
