I had the privilege of attending a Heartsy/Yelp event this past Sunday at B&BJoint. I've been wanting to try these painting in bar events but never got around to it (or maybe I never really tried lol) until I RSVP'd and was accepted to attend for free! I'm glad this happened because now I know paying for it next time is totally worth it. Our teacher Joe was amazing! and hilarious. and handsome too (he did not tell me to write that). He taught us everything step by step and assured us we were doing a great job even when we really weren't. He took the time to personally go around and help every person out. He really inspired me to start painting more often. For fun obviously cause I totally suck but maybe I can be really great at abstract? haha. I really had such a great time, I cannot wait to do it again. I gave my painting to my mom and she now thinks I'm this amazing artist. Little does she know that Joe tweaked it and helped me out at the end ;) Thank you for such a great and fun time!

Awesome times!! Wine and art!!! This was truly a unique experience! I am always looking for fun new things to do and try in the city... And this fit just that! I was a little nervous going into this as I never have painted anything before or thought I'd have an 'artist' within me but the Heartsy team melted all worries away! First, a glass of wine put me at ease and set the tone to just go with the flow, then the very helpful instructor led the way on what to paint, what colors to use, how to mix colors, what shapes and layers to start with and before I knew it... I had my very own and my very first art work!!! I had so much fun interacting with everyone else in the group and exchanging art tips and hints and complementing one another on the fabulous work done :) definitely a must do again! Can't wait to see what I'll be painting next :P

BALLOON MANIA…read more.. This Pop-Up event runs five months thru Sept at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center then on to the next city. Paid at the venue $42 discounted rate for FL resident including $30 for parking in the private lot which was an unexpected cost, but had to park somewhere safe. Tickets were also available online. Decided to come here during the week to avoid a ton of little kids on the weekends or summer camp trips. Definitely NOT adult friendly entertainment. Took exactly one hour to experience all the room, so pricey for a short time. Maybe at a busier time it would be 1.5 hours but no way longer. Most of the exhibits were hands off and a few were interactive like the swings and ball room with music and cool light shows. It was something the wife wanted to see since it looked cool on Instagram, but not something I would ever do again.

As for the museum, it's inside a large warehouse. There's bathrooms in the beginning and in the end only, so make sure you go before you enter the museum. You are also not allowed to bring any outside food or drinks in but they don't check your strollers or bags for things. As for the exhibitions, some of them were better than others, but a lot seemed really tailored to kids. Some of the rooms were really boring with just balloon creatures standing there while others were more interactive. The place also was pretty toasty so dress on the cooler side. They have AC but it's summer in Miami so it gets hot inside despite that. It wasn't too crowded so you could still enjoy all the rooms without feeling overwhelmed. Would I recommend this to other people, probably not for the price point, but if you have kids and it's a rainy day it's a good activity to bring them to. It took us about 1.5 hours to slowly make our way through the whole thing.

Every single piece of art was so informative and it truly blew my mind away to see how far we've come over the decades with regard to sex erotica and fantasy. Not only is the museum fun and interactive, it does have a section where it goes through each decade of time dating as far back to the 1920s and talks about toys, birth control methods and erotic filmography, etc. Inside the "erotic carnival" portion of the museum, each display is interactive, which means you scan your phone to this QR code and you basically get to play different games & win prizes! It really is like a carnival for adults! I definitely recommend going here with your girlfriends or even your partner. (one of the displays actually lets you "get married" and prints a certificate at the end, so cute!)

The building features a large variety of installations which are mostly interactive which was a nice surprise. I expected this place to be more like a museum with facts and history about sex toys or brothels or something like that but it was not like that at all. It gave carnival game type feels with a jerk-off glory hole game in what appears to be bathroom stalls in which I won a tiny stuffed donut. There were claw machines, a bull riding section, a stripper pole, and a giant boob bouncy room. There is a sex store/gift shop at the entrance which felt fitting. Overall, a very fun place for open minded people looking for something different and unique to do in Miami.

Mostly…read morebecause when you're local the mentality is, "why pay to see a fancy house? you can drive by coral gables or south beach and see them for free". I will say, the grounds are absolutely delightful, especially if you go in the Springtime as we did where flowers are all in full bloom, that alone is worth the ticket price. The architecture is exquisite! A feast for the eyes in so many ways. When we came to visit, they were doing renovations. You could see the water damage on the roof and walls, probably caused by one of the many Summer storms, because of that the tickets were at a discount that day but we were still able to appreciate the beauty of Viscaya. There are two cafe's. One in the garden of the main house, and another across the street where farm animals use to be kept. Surprisingly, the food and drinks are reasonably priced. The day we were there, a wedding was going to take place and there was a lot of commotion going on. Fancy tables being set up, fine china, crystal glasses, the whole works. We asked a security guard how much it costs to have a wedding reception there and he said: "Just to rent the space, no tables, no nothing, starting price is 100k". So if you have 100k lying around, and plan to get married soon, this could be an option for you. Jokes aside though; I'd definitely visit again.

The property and history is pretty amazing. As many other reviews have mentioned, a good portion of the rooms and structures are closed for renovations. They have reduced the entry to $20 from $25 but it still was a little disappointing that the casino building and several rooms in the house were closed. Being that it was the offseason, some of the gardens did seem to be past their peak. We hope to return when everything is open in season and tour the whole facility.

It took us about 2.5 hours to explore the entire place including the planetarium show. The show that worked out best with timing was called "How to Die in Space: An Interactive Adventure Through the Cosmos." The girl leading it was wonderful but as you may figure by its name, the show was not a peaceful experience. There were a number of explosions that I think scared some of the kids in attendance. The other exhibits included one about flight, the human body/mind, an aquarium, dinosaurs, and general Florida wildlife. I can't say I learned a terrible amount of new information but it was fine. I appreciate the museum's mission and it probably would be cool for toddlers-little kids.

It's a wonderful little add-on to an already fantastic day at the museum with your family, friends and even date. Bonus: they also offer food options like fries, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets, making it a great spot to recharge during your visit. Highly recommended! As well as the planetarium show, it is 100% worth the extra add on to the ticket.

Founded in 2005 by Naomi Wilzig, the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM). She teamed up with the Kinsey Institute, The Research Center for the Cultural History of Sexuality at Humboldt University in Berlin & Florida International University (FIU) -- College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts (CARTA). There were many galleries with comfortable seating spaces and clean restrooms. We spent about an hour here wandering around the maze of 20 small rooms. We passed lots of international photographs, wood carvings, sculptures and paintings. There was a room filled with Miami Vice memorabilia; photos, clothing & tchotchkes. The World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) presented Mark Kostabi: Revisited, a striking exhibition of 14 new, large-scale, faceless paintings created for the museum. While living & working in Rome, he explored themes of eroticism, technology & the paradoxes of digital intimacy. Highlighted were sexting amid digital distraction, and a surreal portrayal of 3 nude women taking a group selfie; juxtaposing joy, sensuality & technology. Gorge Daniell presented gay themes through photographs & paintings of glamorous celebrities, and scenes of everyday life in pre-and-post-war America. His works were featured in major magazines, including "Time," "Life" and "Esquire," and was also displayed in the Smithsonian, The Museum of Modern Art and the Chicago Institute of Art.
