Be very careful with PV Lock Shop. There is a scam going on that they are perfectly aware of. The scammer's name is David and he's Israeli. He intercepts their calls and steals the appointment for himself. He's tall, bald on the top and has a full dark brown beard. He is of medium build and looks athletic. He's not licensed and is hiding behind Google and PV Lock says they can't put any warning on their website. The know he's aggressive and had done this to several people. They also know that he does terrible work and charges an arm and a leg and that he's out of San Jose, they think. I had done business with PV LOCK before and trusted them. I didn't find out that he isn't a PV LOCK employee until I went to pay with a check and he said to make it out to his wife, Ariel ElizabethRodriguez. He passed himself as a subcontractor. The keys don't work for me and they are so sharp they cut my finger and made it bleed. I tested every single key in every single lock but it was impossible for me to open them. So he told me to have keys made up like the ones I had that have a bigger rectangular head and I was able to get more traction with them especially since I have small hands and arthritis. The number I called to make the appointment never answered when I called him back and the phone number on the digital receipt is no longer in service and when I tried to put a stop payment on the check that same day it had already been cashed. He told I could pay him in cash, check or credit card. If I had paid him with my credit card then he could've gone on a spending spree. I already filed a complaint with the Monterey County Sheriff's Department and am working on my complaint with the California Attorney General read more

Great service. We were given the option of putting a new bolt lock on our privacy screen door(more expensive) or fixing the original lock and needing to pull the door inward to get it to lock to engage. We went with the less expensive option. read more

We used this shop for the second time recently to replace door locks and add a deadbolt in our new home. It's the last time we will use them. I made the appointment in person in the shop. The day before the scheduled installation I called them to confirm; yes, we were set for the next morning at 9:00. But the next morning at 10:30 when no one had come, I called. I was told the owner was confused about the date. Baloney! The guy did show up around 11:00. To replace an existing deadbolt and door knob, and add one new deadbolt, and key all 3 locks, including the cost of the hardware, was $450. We didn't choose high-end locks; they're good quality Schlage, nothing fancy. There was a service charge AND a charge for labor, which was half the cost. The guy finished the front door installation and asked me to check it. The deadbolt didn't go all the way into the door frame. Why did I have to point that out? After he left, we learned that the door handle under the new deadbolt doesn't work properly. Why didn't he check that? If he had, he could have charged me to fix it. Instead my husband got locked out of the house. A week after the installation I left the house, locking the front door behind me. My husband got home and pushed the door open; the lock didn't line up properly so it didn't catch. Our dog could have run away or someone could have helped themselves to whatever was in the house. It wouldn't even have been breaking and entering! We called them back and they did come out to fix the front door lock properly this time, and didn't try to charge us. But why not do it right the first time? And why not check the other locks in the house, to drum up more business? Our hope was to support a local small business. But we didn't appreciate paying top dollar for a careless job. Not sure how these guys stay in business... We won't recommend them and we won't use them again. read more

I called a couple of places on a Friday afternoon because I lost my mailbox key & couldn't get my mail!! One place told me it would be a week! That would not work for me. Pajaro Valley Lock Shop is great. They seem to have a god selection of lock items, but more importantly their prices are good and they're really friendly. I actually went in for a part for my car (I needed a new keyless remote casing, which is nowhere to be found online). None of the auto shops I visited had anything remotely close, and while PV didn't have the exact thing I wanted, they did have an item that worked almost as well--which was still better than the auto shops I had been to 5 minutes earlier. They've also been great about copying keys for me in the past...even ones they probably weren't supposed to. I've always had a good experience at PV Lock Shop and highly recommend it. read more

I went to get a copy of my car keys. Overall this place seemed well stocked, but the parts seem to be old packages. I suppose if you have old locks they may have what you need. Personally my visit was disappointing. The gentleman attending me said I needed to pay for the key copies of an imported car type (mine is a dodge and he pointed to my minivan), and since he had already made the keys I paid the price, but I won't be going back to a place that feels like they're taking advantage that you may not know much about cars. read more

Carroll and his well trained moral staff get the job done and for sincerefly fair rates! Carroll is the most compitent lock smith this side of the Missisippi in my mother's opinion. My first experience at this shop left me humbked by the sincerity of this establishment. Honda told me my new car key needed a chip to pair with the car key. They said my 2003 car would not start without that chip. They required an appointment....BS I thought. I called Carroll who said he bought a new laser cutting machine and could do it for 100, or $50 less than what Honda quoted me. Brought the key and proof it was my car and Boom, I was out of that humbling shop in 10 min. Will return again to get my fidgity car door lock fixed. I've been coming here for over 10 years, but no more. The older gentleman knows his trade. He's an expert locksmith. For complex or older locksmith needs his knowledge is clutch. Unfortunately, he's rather rude. I prefer to patron local businesses because I believe in keeping my money in the community. I went out of my way to come to the old PV lock shop, even when my family member recommended I go to the hardware store. But, my last visit left me so miffed that I'm taking my business elsewhere. The older gentleman's rudeness ruined my whole day. Local business should mean better customer service? Not here. read more

I locked my keys inside my house at around 4PM. I called Pajaro Valley Lock Shop and asked them to come by and open my door. They told me it would take approximately 20 minutes to get to my house. I called after a half hour and he said he was coming right over. This went on for about 3 hours until he just stopped answering his phone. Not once did anyone ever tell me to forget it, that he was having an emergency or anything - just ignored my calls. The least they could have done is just let me know they weren't coming but didn't even get the courtesy. Finally, about 9PM, I gave up and called AA Safe and Lock. They were at my house in 10 minutes and had me in my house a couple of minutes later. Do NOT even waste your time on these losers. If that's what they consider "service", I'm surprised the Pajaro Valley Lock Shop is still in business. read more

I went to PV Lock with a 50-year old lock with a lost key and they had no problem finding the parts to replace it. The young guy couldn't figure it out, but the older guy was like "Oh, I see what's going on" and had no problem helping me out. For $15 I was able to replace the key-fitting parts in both of the locks without changing the deadbolt out, which I really wanted to avoid. I really appreciate him explaining how to install and work the lock to me so I didn't have to pay for labor. read more

I lost my only motorcycle key and asked in countless places and nobody was able to help me, not even the dealership. I came in and briefed the older gentleman about my situation, he told me to simply bring the helmet lock that it should have the key code in it. I did and he made a new set of keys for my motorcycle in 5 MINUTES I figured it would be a fortune for what he did and it was only 25$. This place deserves 50 stars read more

Took my 1969 Camaro (okay fine, it's my wife's Camaro, she just lets me drive it sometimes) here because the key was stuck in ignition. The older gentleman, Carroll hoped right in and worked his magic on it and had the key out in literally seconds. He then helped me with an issue with the exterior locks and had all my problems handled in about 2 minutes. Since it is an old car, he had to make me a custom key for the exterior lock by grinding out by hand some grooves in it. I bought some other key accessories there and was on my way quickly. The whole time, he has awesome, super nice, friendly, and I fell like he actually gave a damn about me. Anyways, I see some bad yelp reviews on here, and I don't think they are real. I mean come on, a local owned small business like this just would not do those kind of things. I hope PV lockshop stays in business so my kids can use their services when they get older.
