The brewery itself was so cute and cozy and as soon as we walked in i said someone is making chilli and i need it. So we ordered that and the picnic basket. Was blown away because both choices were exactly what i needed. The chili was so yummy and a little bit spicy. The picnic basket had this dip that i could not stop eating even after the bread and the crackers we used to dip were gone. This brewery has board games and what looks like space for live music that would be perfect chill night out. My friends all tried beer and they all liked it. I know nothing of hops and what not so i have nothing to add here but my shandy was great and if we didnt have other stops to make i would have definitely would have a second. if you ever find yourself in virginia and in need of a nice place to hang out, watch the game or if you ware craving chilli, head here everyone is nice and welcoming and you will get good food and drinks

They have a Wednesday burger night thing going on with delicious cheeseburgers and sides. The beer was also great and they have a pretty decent selection on dark beers. I particularly loved the beer called "cock and pull it" and the oatmeal stout they had. They have limited hours now due to COVID-19, but definitely worth checking out and interacting with locals.

Twisted Oak has rapidly become my favorite place to sit and relax and have a pint on the weekend…read more It is very much a farm brewery, as you pass through barley fields on the way in, and there are hops being trellised this spring. The space is outstanding with breezy porches, outdoor fire pits, and even walking trails across the back of the property. In winter, the wood stove keeps the inside nice and toasty. The beers are good, and Jay is a skilled brewer, gradually honing his recipes to the brewhouse. (The Miss Hazy has noticably changed and improved over the past few months.) As opposed to some places with 20+ beers ranging from the odd to the excellent to simply undrinkable, Twisted Oak typically has a range of 6-8 brews on, and all of them quite good. Most importantly, the service is outstanding. Jay and Missy (owners) are welcoming, and the part time help are all friendly and it is obvious they genuinely want you to enjoy the beer and the space. And, well, the dogs and I do.

The next day, we stopped by Cave Hill Farms Brewery for some well-earned food and drinks. This was my third visit, and overall, it was another good experience. The pretzel bites and nachos were both solid, and we ordered two different chicken nugget options--one super mild (no sauce) and the other packing a nice spicy kick. The beer selection was great, and chatting with Wendy behind the counter was a highlight. She's the kind of person every brewery or restaurant needs--funny, welcoming, and just plain awesome. Only a couple of minor misses: they weren't offering beer flights because the dishwasher was down (I even offered to help wash the glasses, but no go), and they were out of shredded pork, which would've been great on the nachos. Still, nothing that would keep me from coming back. There are a lot of great spots in the area, but Cave Hill Farms Brewery remains one of my favorites. I'll definitely be back for visit #4.

The tasting is a great deal and I believe it's $5 for 5 tastings and you can pay extra for more samples. There are no flights. The Off the Press cider with no added sugar was quite sweet on its own and my favorite! My hubby enjoyed the peach and Honey Ginger cider. The cinnamon spiced Wassail cider was tasty and perfect for the fall and comes in larger 16 oz cans (4 pack is $14) while some of the other flavors like the Honey Ginger and Peach ciders come in smaller, 12 oz cans (4 pack for $11). We bought 3 packs - Wassail, Honey Ginger, and Off the Press (Peach was sold out!) and devoured them within a week! I wasn't a big fan of the Strawberry and Blackberry ciders. There's outdoor seating to soak in the sweeping views of the Shenandoah hillside and the beautiful fields and pastures! The indoor seating is a bit cramped for only a dozen or so people. There's a small market next door that sells produce and meat. The food truck sold cider donuts and some hot food and drinks, I wish the donut was hot (it was stone cold!). High up on a hill looking down over the valley. As for the service, she was incredibly accommodating. We ordered a flight of ciders and chatted with her about the dry versus the sweet. In the end my wife found a wonderful option, the Virginia blackberry cider. She said it was her favorite. I had a Virginia tannin which I found matched a white Sauvignon blanc in some flavor, and was good for sipping in the shade on top the hill. Later we walked through the market, grabbed a 1/2 gallon of cider and pet the area dog before we headed out. I wish it was closer, but it deserved a 5 star for the cider.

The best drink in the tasting was their 8 yoa bourbon, very smooth and a little sweet, great for sipping or mixing. The vodka also tasted good in drinks. This was one of the best distillery I have tried. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and if it's nice outside, the scenery behind the distillery is amazing with a creek running right past the back porch. The do offer charcuterie and other snacks to eat here when there are no food trucks. You are also allowed to bring your own food, which is what we did.. I can't wait to go here again when I come back next year.

It was a chilly day and we followed the instructions to ring the bell when we were outside. Shout out to the folks here who provide the cute cat with a heated blanket to lay on during cold weather. Members of the staff quickly came by to let us in and we walked into a empty sitting area. To be fair, it was around 3:00pm on a Wednesday. The vibe inside is eclectic, homey, and comfortable. We grabbed a seat at a table near the fire. We had time to review menu. I picked a classic Whiskey Sour and my Mom got one of their warm whiskey cocktails. Both of us really enjoyed ours. We sipped and savored them and just enjoyed a bit of a respite from our road trip. We both got a bottle of their whiskey to take home with us. These aren't your standard whiskeys and they are definitely more expensive than what you'd probably get in the liquor store. We've been enjoying our purchases at home since our visit. Copper Fox is a nice stop and I'd recommend it to folks wanting a break and a beverage.
